10 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"We stayed here last week for a week and it was fantastic. The hotel was immaculate, staff friendly and there was a breakfast buffet to die for! The hotel is situated on the 192, but I couldn't hear any traffic noise, there are shops (gift and supermarket) nearby and plenty of restaurants within walking distance. We took full advantage of the courtesy shuttle to both Disney and Universal, drivers were friendly and the times suited us - however they may be more frequent in season. The buffet was a great way to start the day, from bagels to doughnuts to Cheerios there really was something for everyone. I would highly recommend this hotel (as do the rest of the family) and would stay here again."

good place to stay
"The hotel housekeeping took good care of the rooms and the front desk staff was courteous. We were there for a week and we enjoyed the stay. The hotel has a good location and close to everything which was nice. A very good experience."

"My wife and I checked in January 19, 2005. The tile in the lobby was being removed with sledge hammers, the room we were given had not been cleaned (the desk said their computer showed it ready), the new room was closer to the remodeling (a safety handrail in the shower had a screw missing, the fridge made noise most of the night, and the tubless shower was made for a person about 5 feet tall). A gift bag was given at check-in with a discount coupon for an Italian restaurant within walking distance, the continental breakfast food was very good but the room crowded, and the time share desk was next to the check-in desk (you can get discounted event tickets and a free breakfast for a 90 minute presentation at a resort). Our presentation lasted 4.5 hours since we got a vacation package we didn't expect to buy. Oh, there is a building being constructed in front of the hotel. You need to use a side-road to get to the lobby. The hotel staff was friendly and courteous. A disabled couple complained about having trouble getting around the lobby demolition area. The tile had not been replaced at the end of our stay on Saturday. You have to tell them you didn't use the room safe or you get charged a dollar a day."

Nice Price, Nice Location, Nice Amentities
"Thanksgiving Weekend 2004 - I would definitley recommend this hotel to first time Disney visitors. Price are great. We always found good parking spaces. Breakfast was great for complimentary service. Across the street from numerous souveniour shops, for last minture shopping. Hotel was full when we checked in, but we had no problem acquiring crib for the baby, even though it was slightly flemsy. Rooms have microwaves and nice sized fridges that can easily hold a gallon of milk. Our travel agent couldn't tell if the fridge and microwave was included when she booked the room. Shuttle service hours a little inconvenient. We rented a car and drove to all the parks each day instead, in no time at all. This was our first visit and would recommend vs paying the high cost of the resort hotels, when most seemed even further to some of the parks. They didn't seem so up close as Disney advertises. The hotel even has an on-site ticket area for park entry purchases."

good value for money
"My husband and i have just returned from a 10 night stay at the sleep inn maingate. Our room was great not huge, but clean, certainly did not smell. We got a fridge and freezer, a micro wave, coffee maker and tv. Free internet in our room (you need your own lap top) All the staff were extremely helpful especially Dahli our housekeeper and zena on reception. Guest services were good and got us a good price for the dixie stampede.
The pool is on the small side but it was always clean, the breakfast room again is quite small and sometimes we had to wait 5 Minutes for a table (whats 5 Minutes for a free breakfast)
If people want 5* luxury then they should go and pay 5* prices, we came to florida to visit the theme parks all we wanted was a good clean room and shower, breakfast and knowledgeable staff and thats exactly what you get at the sleep inn maingate for a great price. I would certainly stay here again.
PS. if you fancy a snack there is a 24 hour Mac Donalds at the end of the car park!!"

A lovely hotel
"We stayed at this hotel during October 2004 and was surprised at its good quality. The hotel was clean and never appeared over crowded or noisy even when it was full. The staff were all helpful. The breakfast was more than ample with much more choice than I had expected. I will certainly be using this hotel again and will be recommending it to friends and family.
One point however is that it can be hard to see the hotel from the 192 as it is hidden behind at Mermaid Gift Shop and IHOP."

Never again will we make a reservation here
"We certainly will not make another reservation at this hotel. We arrived at 1800 hrs after a 9 hour flight from the U.K. Hurricane Jeanne was approaching and a curfew was imposed starting at 2300 hrs. This hotel said out Travel Agent had cancelled our 6 nights reservation and they were full. We had nowhere to stay.
We rang our Agent who said that what the hotel said was completely untrue and full marks to them, they found us alternative accommodation 20 miles away.
Whilst we waited, another two British travellers arrived and were told their Agent had cancelled their reservations. They reminded the hotel that they had telephoned the day before to say they were having a parcel delivered for them and they would arrive the following day.
This hotel has forgotten the meaning of service and care for its guests. They are clearly only interested in making a fast buck out of local residents who were moving away from the coast to avoid the hurricane and would pay anything to get a bed for the night."

Probably won't stay there again...
"Hurricane Charley notwithstanding, we probably would not stay at this particular hotel again. Firstly, if you stay, RENT A CAR! The "free" shuttle service takes you to the parks too late in the morning and picks you up too early in the evening to take advantage of the entire Disney experience. Plus, if you need to come back early for any reason, there is only one shuttle in and one shuttle out per day.
Other problems were leaky windows during the rainstorm, resulting in wet, smelly carpeting; no towels in the room or available twice during a six day stay; vending machine not stocked; only two restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, and one you had to cross an extremely busy four-lane highway.
On a positive note, the expanded continental breakfast was really very good. Lots of carbs and little fruit, but fine.
So if you have your own car, and aren't in a hurricane or have any rain, this hotel would probably work for you."

"Pretty good deal for $50 a night and convenient for 5 girls who didn't want any hassle. Free hot breakfast galore with fresh fruit and pastries, free shuttle to Disney theme parks and Universal at convenient times in the morning and evening, beautifully appointed rooms and great inside hotel in general. No qualms whatsoever and would definately stay there again."

Very positive experience
"We enjoyed our time here. It's a very reasonably priced convenient hotel. I was pleasantly surprised after reading negative ratings here to find this hotel very comfortable. Staff was helpful and our 5 days stay here was very pleasant. Check out took about 30 seconds - as promised.
Sound insulation could be improved but overall it was a very good experience. Would definitely stay here agin in the future."
