"The trip was near perfect. My boyfriend and I (ages 23 and 31) stayed for six days, but wished we extended the trip because we were having such a wonderful time. First thing’s first: the hotel offers a free airport transportation service, so take advantage of it! The room was beautiful, we stayed in a “preferred” room, which I think is just a closer view to the ocean and includes a hot tub on the balcony…fantastic idea. We stayed in the “1” tower, on the left side which did not overlook the pool and at first I was disappointed we didn’t have both a pool and ocean view, then realized we had a much more private experience on the outside room. The plunge pools are also very nice, but there is absolutely no privacy. The food was fantastic; the breakfast buffet had many, many options including a bunch of healthy foods for those sticking to their diets while on vacation. The French restaurant was wonderful and we paid extra for a private dinner on the beach which was, guess what….great! The coffee shoppe made fantastic cappuccinos. I cannot say enough good things about the service, simply wonderful…everyone was happy and eager to help. It was my boyfriend’s birthday and they unexpectedly announced it on their daily itinerary and brought him a piece of cake and birthday card to our room. They also put rose petals on the bed the night of our romantic dinner on the beach! The massages were great too! He had a sports massage and I had a Swedish, he said his sports massage really helped his aching muscles. The fitness center was pretty good too, plenty of bicycles, tredmills and weight machines. The pool and daily activities were on par with other all inclusive resorts, beach volleyball, archery, bungee trampoline, etc. The drinks were delicious and as strong as you’d like them to be! The infinity pool was beautiful. They had a water trampoline and big blow up rock climbing thing in the ocean, very fun. The only unfortunate experience was checking out! We didn’t want to leave! I would strongly recommend this resort to anyone of any age, it was a diverse and fun crowd. I was staying when they had a water issue, the shower and sink water smelt pretty bad for a couple days but was completely fixed and even with smelly shower water I would still rate this resort five stars because everything else was simply amazing."

Excellent Property

"My wife and I just returned from Dreams Riviera Cancun after staying from Oct 3 - Oct 10; the resort is about a 20-30 minutes shuttle ride from the airport depending on the number of stops and the driver; upon arrival, "welcome home" you are greeted with a cool towel and glass of champagne; the staff escorts you to chck-in; we received our room upgrade from garden to oceanview; its was our anniversary, so the staff had placed a "Happy Anniversary" banner over our door, along with a bottle of champagne, fruits and chocolates inside;

the rooms: my wife loved the use of tiles; jacuzzi tub was really nice; matresses were firm; pillows and comforters very nice; balcony overlooked the ocean; big standup shower; the water did smell like rotten eggs, so they hopefully will work that out soon because brushing my teeth with it was tough; also, no privacy when going to the bathroom (so you really want to hear your spouse/family go to the bathroom); but in all, the rooms are very nice; they need more storage space as there arent dressers, just 3 shelves to place clothes; safe worked in the room without issue;

the staff: superb; excellent attention to detail (especially Victor at the World Cafe); they carried out plates from the buffett; brought mimosas; after a week of asking if there was anything he could do for us; my wife asked Victor to dance on the table, and his face was really red - too embarassed; Freddy and the entertainment team keep things moving although they are not in your face or pushy; we had been waiting for beach volleyball all week, and finally got the nets up on our last day, so my wife and i played for 3 hours; the only slow service was at the Japenese on our last night when the resort started to get busy;

drinks: frozen watermelon mojito was the only 3 words that came out of the wife's mouth all week; premium alcohol (Jack, Grey Goose, Absolut, 1800, Johnny Black, etc.) but you need to specifically ask for it off the shelf or you will be given the house alcohol

food: excellent for an all-inclusive, best we've had across the caribbean yet; Oceana - beef tenderloin and jumbo shrimp excellent (Mahi Mahi was slightly overcooked); Steakhouse - ribeye and filet mignon were excellent; Portofino - shrimp wrapped in serrano ham was excellent; Himitsu - shrimp in yellow curry and beef in green curry were both decent and not overly spiced; we did not eat at Bordeaux; El Patio serves you a huge portion of fajitas but the tortilla soups were both really good;

pools: 4 pool in all; one activity pool; the infinity pool with swim-up bar; then there were 2 useless wading pools with water not more than 12 inches; there may or may not be enough pool space if the hotel is full capacity and everyone wants to swim

shows were ok; monday night football on the beach was fun; nightly movies on the beach would be good for kids; we never made it to the Desires nightclub;

overall; this place is really nice and will be twice the price per person than what we paid, so it was an excellent value"

Dream trip to Dreams

"We took a chance and booked to arrive on opening day at this brand new resort. Little did we know what was in store for us for a girlfriend getaway. Wow......we were the very first guests to arrive. What a reception. 500 staff cheering and welcoming us to this resort. We felt like rock stars. It was a trip to remember. This resort is stunning. The details are incredible, from linen curtains beside the beds, to bamboo railings, to "star" lights in the pools at night, to the largest shutters you have ever seen in the lobby. The rooms are over the top! The entire resort is a work of art. Every time you look around, you see more details. You are not going to find too many other resorts to compare the beauty and details here. The food was fantastic. I am not an AI fan and this resort changed my entire view of AI. Small portions allowed you to try many of their unique offerings. Loved the grouper tacos and ceviche for lunch. There were many healthy options as well as the typical American hamburger and pizza (if you can't live without it). Dinner meals were also wonderful. The drinks were great. No cheap plastic cups here. They brought me a few favorites to try and yum! Mojitos were fantastic. The pools are beautiful. One of the nicest infinity pools I have ever seen. The beach is quite nice. Long stretches to walk, beautiful water and sand bottom. The nightly entertainment was fun. We had a fire show, juggler and a rock band. Morning yoga was very good. The bar and pool service crew are so friendly. The staff is what truly makes this resort. I have been to many nice resorts at a much higher rate than this one and none of them compare to the kindness of the staff. It will be what sets this resort apart from all others. I feel like I made friends in our few days there. These people work long and hard hours, but are so happy to be there. The entertainment crew is so fun, the wait staff is so friendly and the management is truly top notch. If there is a problem they can solve, they will do it with a smile. Are there little kinks? Sure, but nothing major. There are kinks at resorts that have been open for years. Be realistic and you will have one of the best trips you've ever had. Don't sweat the small stuff. This place is awesome! I loved it so much, I am returning with my husband and kids for Thanksgiving and I have never returned to the same place twice. I can't wait to see everyone again! Watch out Rod, Robert, Susana, Luis, Kevin, Netza, Javier, Ericke, Andy, Fredy, Guadeloupe, Paulo and everyone else we were so priviledged to meet.....I'm coming back and bringing the crew!"

"Just got back from an eight day stay with my wife and boys. The resort is beautiful and the staff for the most part where incredible. Did have some issues and thought they could have accommodated us better. Only complaints are SLOW service in a couple or the dining restaurants 2+hrs., Buffet food was never warm (but that's normal for Buffets), Bathroom in rooms have little privacy for family travel, Didn't get room upgrade as quoted on reservation because it wasn’t available? Even though there were only 50 guests in the entire resort. It was available if we wanted to pay for it? Overall it is an amazing resort, just need to work out the issues."

"We just spent 6 days at the new resort (Oct 3-8) and all I can say is FABULOUS!! The resort is first class in every way imaginable. Great food, great service and the beach is great! I will say this about the beach - you can walk about 20 minutes in each direction down the beach from the resort. After that point you get in front of some bare lots (ie condos to be built) and the beaches are not maintained in front. As for the beach in front of the Dreams resort - it is immaculate! They rake the beach each morning least my bare feed touch the seaweed washed ashore. The water is not as nice as further south deep in the heart of the Riviera Maya (South of Playa del Carmen). This is a high end resort. Beautiful rooms, pools and restaurants. They did not cheap out on anything. It's pretty much a Four Seasons in my mind. Even the kids club is top notch with super friendly staff and an amazing facility for kids.

I only have two pieces of "constructive criticism" - which are unique to our circumstances. First - while the rooms are spectacular - well appointed, great design, high end and visually appealing - we were there with 2 small kids and found the room a touch small with a crib in there. But that's not a big deal. Also - there was no dresser - just 4 shelves in the closet - so a little tight on space with 4 people. The one thing I found somewhat bothersome is there was no buffet on the beach. You have to leave the pools and beach for the World Cafe (buffet). Its beautiful - each table set with china, stem ware and silverware. They DO, however, have plenty of staff that will take your order and serve you pool side a-la-carte but we find with small kids its easier to get them in and feed them ASAP rather than wait for that freshly cooked hot dog. We didn't dine at most restaurants (not alot of fun with a terrible 2 year old) but everyone had great things to say about the food and service and the menus are superb. The decor is spectacular throughout. One other point to be aware of - if you are a couple booking a romantic get away (and we would highly recommend this resort) and if you are splurging for the ocean front rooms with jacuzzi on the balcony - be forewarned that SOME of the premium rooms have "adjoining" balconies. By that I mean the balconies between rooms are separated by rails - not a concrete solid wall - so you could find yourselves "tubbing" with your neighbours beside you...... We were there opening week and it was simply spectacular. Beautifully done with great staff, great service, great rooms, pools and restaurants. It was such a treat to be there when it was "quiet" - maybe 20 per cent full. We were completely spoiled. By far the nicest all inclusive we have been to. 24 hour room service with a great menu, premium liquors etc. All first rate. I would highly recommend it. Definite six stars throughout."

I cant say enough good things about this place. My only complaints would be the water in the room smells horrible!!! Lots of rotten egg smell while you shower. Rooms were great besides that. We had an indoor AND outdoor personal jacuzzi. I will be back to this resort in March!"

"The resort is wonderful. The food and service was the best of any all inclusive in Mexico I've been to. Great pools with beautiful view of the gulf.
Only one compliant. The rooms which again are outstanding, have doors that allow you to hear the staff in the hallway and the guest having a conversation in the room next to you.
My wife and I did not mind the conversation except it was very short and repetitive. ;-)"

They were a well oiled machine on their first day of opening. I have stayed in all inclusives before, but nothing compares...no short-cuts here. I am already making plans to go back (I rarely go to the same place twice). I highly recommend this resort."

The staff is well trained, happy and friendly. Service is perfect. The sceniery is breath taking."
