Great hostel, great atmosphere, fantastic hosts!
"I stayed here with my young daughter. The hostel is clean, well equipped and even has a live in chef offering cheap, tasty, authentic mexican food. The hosts are very helpful and there are activities and tours offered. The hostel has an array of different room styles, from dorms to lovely private en-suite doubles. The hostel is in a good location near to the downtown area and its restaurants. The ADO bus station is within 7 minutes walking distance for onward travel in Mexico and international departures. The local R1 bus to the hotel zone can be caught from Tulum Avenue a couple of minutes walk away. We have travelled extensively, and this hostel had one of the most laid back, relaxed and friendly atmospheres we've been to."

Good hostel option
"If you must stay in Cancun (Playa and Tulum are better )this is a pretty good place. They have AC in the dorm and if you ever tried to sleep in your own sweat ,,,,this is important. Nice breakfast plate( made up one at a time )was sweet. Kitchen available too. I got lost going there, mind that it faces a city park only 3 ? blocks from the 1st class bus (airport and anywhere )"

Such nice people!
"The hostel staff were really welcoming and nothing was ever too much trouble. Right in the centre of Cancun, away from the hotel district, but easy to get to the hotels, bars etc by bus. Would stay again!"

Friendly hostel with great staff
"We stayed at this place at the end of our trip. It is right in town and easily reached by foot from the ADO bus station. We had no reservation, but because of low season it was no problem getting a private room. If possible I recommend booking ahead with this place. The building is older and has a beautiful architecture. The rooms are clean. There is a new manager and he has updated the hostel. He is constantly improving the place. The staff is very helpful and friendly. In the morning they cook and serve a very nice breakfast. We recommend the place. If we are going to Cancun again this is the place to stay."

Really helpful, friendly staff and great breakfast
"We had a room with aircon and en suite, very quirky decor but loads of room. Henry is very friendly and helpful and makes a great mexican breakfast which is included in the price. Security is excellent as no-one can be let in or out with the management unlocking the front door."

First night in Mexico
"We chose this place as an inexpensive alternative to the big fancy hotels in the Cancun hotel district. We flew into Cancun, rented a car, and spent the first night of our trip in this hostel. We planned to drive to Isla Holbox the next morning, so we left early and did not stay for breakfast. Our room was large and clean with a private bathroom. My only complaint is that there was no soap and we had not brought any with us."

Great Service, Shame about the Bed Bugs
"Hostel Quetzal is great, the staff are friendly and the breakfast is delicious. Very nice rooms and dorms. We stayed in a private room first which was great, then transferred to the dorm. I woke up the next day, with no exaggeration - over 100 bedbug bites. The manager said that he'd never seen it before and gave us our money back. We then checked reviews on other websites and saw that many other people had been bitten too. When we went up to the room to get our stuff, the maintanance man was spraying a chemical all throughout the room and on the beds. The smell was intensely strong. I don't recommend this hostel, as the bites are still itchy now - over a week later."

wonderful, enchanting, unique. The BEST HOSTEL
"A weary travellers paradise. Small, great group of guests, a very homey atmosphere and a caring staff. My room was huge, well decorated with a beautiful garden, pretty bathroom. The decor was unique and the service first class. Nightly cocktail parties a great way to meet guests and discuss travels. Breakfast is wonderful and included in the room price. Hostel Quetzal was a refreshing surprise. The hostel was an entertainers home with 5 private rooms, a dormitory, beautiful gardens and a rooftop terrace. Also the hostel tour to Chichen Itza was the best tour I have been on in Mexico. Intimate, complete and they even take you to undiscovered ruins that you can climb on."

"This was a fantastic quality hostel. The prices were low and the service was great. It is a good size and setting, making it a comfortable and relaxed place to stay. Located in a great area in downtown, walking distance from the bus station, it is close to bars and restaurants or only a cheap bus ride to the hotel district and beaches. The staff were friendly and welcoming from the minute we set foot in the door. Its a great hostel for a party, for meeting people and generally enjoying yourself."
