"This hotel is part of "Qaryat Al Beri Complex" which also contain the Shangri-la hotel, a private beach and a shopping mall. PROS: - Positive and cheerful atmosphere - The hotel personnel are always smiling and eager to help you - Complimentary WIFI every were - The rooms are clean and equipped with the basic amenities - A great quality towards the value you pay CONS: - The "Afya" restaurant staff weren't attentive enough. We had to repeat our request several times to get them. - The rooms have a slightly weired smell"

"Have stay only 2 nights but for sure will come back as this place his very friendly and the staff are really cool (no 5*fuss). You feel welcome from the moment you step in. Only negative comment is the construction that is happening next door, but just ask to have your room change they will straig away do it."

"I have been at the Traders Hotel now for longer than I can count. Also have been to other hotels in AbuDhabi. Top: location; staff friendliness; caring staff; big rooms; value pricing; good room service; access to all the places in the Souk; easy access to the Shangri-La hotel; cool lobby Decent: Traders' Lounge Drawbacks: no atmosphere at the bar (but then, go to Shangri-La); no membership points accumulating for free stays; construction noise on the side to the Fairmont Hotel (but simply ask for a room on the other side)"

"We stayed here after trading down from the Shangri La during an extended stay in Abu Dhabi and were really pleased to have had the experience as part of our holiday. The good score is because at Traders you can take advantage of some of the good things offered by it's fancier next door neighbour without many of the drawbacks. Firstly you can dine at any of the Shangri La's fantastic restaurants or the neighbouring Souk so it's not a huge deal that the restaurant food at Traders is so-so. Secondly, the service is excellent ( e.g.when we were ripped off by a taxi driver, the porter and reception staff took over and allowed me to leave them to deal with the problem), and we found an added warmth from the staff not as present at the Shangri La. There's also been a few comments on here about the pool, but the rooftop pool when we were there was always very quiet and perfect for relaxing. The adjacent gym was also pretty quiet and all the equipment was brand new. Again, to compare to the Shangri La who's gym isn't even on the main hotel site. This area also has a nice pool bar which has a happy hours between 5-7pm.The outdoor pool as well is relaxed and an ample size. If I were to return to Abu dhabi I'd stay here again, yes it has elements that make it pretty much like a standard business hotel but its got enough to recommend it beyond that and is in close enough proximity to things it hasn't got to still make the stay worthwhile."

Good rooms and service, very average food, pool & gym

"I travel regularly to Abu Dhabi on business and have stayed at a lot of the hotels and Traders is definitely one of the better ones. The rooms are very comfortable and the service is very good. It's worth upgrading the standard to the deluxe room for acres of space. Unfortunately for a business traveller the things that begin to matter over a period of time are the pool and gym - both of which are small and constantly seem to have one part or other out of action; and the food which is both expensive and distinctly average. This is made up for a lovely beach - even though the staff seem not to want you to use it before 3pm! I recommend you do as I did and ignore them - they will soon accept the fact that you are there and might even offer ou a drink."

"I was a little wary having read earlier reviews about the building work etc but I was more than satisfied by my experience. The beach is in place and everything seemd to be functioning. No more building site. Staff were thoroughly attentive in the Shangri-La style and quality. I was upgraded to Exec Suite and had a very large room and sitting area with balcony to "the beach". I should say that the beach is an artificial strip of sand on what might otherwise be regarded as a river..and on the otherside is the Grand Mosque in the distance and some industrial building on the oppostite foreshore. Many hotel are being developed along this stretch "between the bridges". Next door is Shangri La Residences and Hotel and a range of souk style restaurants in between. The hotel was clean and fresh (well its new) and the decortation is..well gawdy on one hand but contemporary on another. The designer was certainly colour blind. The room was well kitted out. Staff service excellent in every respect. The food was to again very good and well presented. The Trader Club on the 9th floor had a nice range iof drinks and nibbles, but quite small. I'll be staying again when next in AD and can recommned this as it feels more 5* than 4*. Thanks everyone."

"Having been talked into this Hotel by our Travel Agent (Virgin-UK) we arrived 2 days before Christmas for an 11 night holiday.Clean, Brand New was how it was described, someone forgot to mention it was in the middle of a building site with cranes overhead and the continual stench of diesal. Had upgraded to the Shangri-la Traders floor before arrival, this gives benefits of all day drinks / snacks. We were until the last day one of only two rooms occupied on the upgraded floor and i would imagine the whole hotel was only 15% Occupancy. Service was efficient at times, though staff seemed unhelpful on many occasions.Swimming pool was very noisy with Cranes and the actual Beach was closed during the whole duration of our stay, instaed we had to use a beach designated for Shangri La Residences which was often noisy with families and young children. We did complain to the manager during our stay and received a complimentry meal with wine. Whole are in front of hotel is new building works"

Shangrila on a budget

"This 'budget' hotel has all the comfort and efficiency you could need on a business trip with one huge bonus: you get access to all the five-star bars and restaurants, pools and beaches of this sprawling Shangrila complex. It's about 20 minutes from the city centre, but that's a small price to pay for the calm and relaxing feel."

"very nice business style hotel, upscale, connected to the shangri-la. get a limo from the airport, it's a BMW 7 series in stretch for 200 dirham. nice. great all indian, pakistani and asian staff, everybody speaks english, even roomservice. everybody is very friendly, always smiling, always helpful, even if you don't tip like crazy. big enough and very clean rooms, comfy bed, big bathroom with seperate shower. all modern design with a touch of coolness, but not too much. outside pool which is rather small but well kept, did not check out the spa- and fitness facilites. beach access, unfortunately sorrounded by construction sites during my stay. everything seems to be getting ready for the F1 grand prix nov1st. a little bit away from everything, 20 cab minutes from the city, close to the airport, close to yas island. medium choice breakfast buffet, but open from 6 to 10:30. tested only 1 restaurant for dinner so far, but very good, assorted western and dalmatian kitchen. not too expensive, a huge burger goes for 55 dirham. smokers / nonsmokers section plus outside seating. free highspeed internet, stable and fast enough for skype videocalls. overall: a winner, friendly, will come again."
