"used to be our favorite, but......... after 10 years, get new mattresses!!!!! the originals are all worn down. We stayed in a suite, not half as good as the suites in the Royal Beach next nearby. Food at the Royal Beach by far better........ It seems as though management is to busy saving in the wrong places rather than giving us the usually expected 6 star type of vacation."

"This review is geared towards young families rather than couples or individuals. We're regular visitors to Eilat, and before we had children had previously stayed at the Dan and the Royal Beach. More recently, with the children, we have stayed at the King Solomon, as this hotel considers itself best for kids (although this is not the opinion of this reviewer). However, our last stay at the King Solomon was pretty awful so we were tempted this time to stay in a 2 bed suite at the Royal Garden, which is self-catering. In the end we decided to pay a bit more to stay in a family room at the Dan Eilat. It was the right decision! The family rooms (just 18 of them in the hotel) are great, and exceeded our expectations. Very spacious (at least twice the width of a standard room) with a separate room within the room which sleeps two children easily. The children's room has doors which is an added bonus. The room has an enormous double bed, a couple of sofas and a table and chairs, and a large balcony facing the sea. The bathroom has 2 sinks, a bath with a shower, and a separate walk-in shower. The food at the Dan is excellent. The choice at breakfast is by far the best we have experienced in Eilat. The evening buffet is also very good with plenty of choice for children (not just chicken nuggets and chips!), plenty of good quality fresh fruit and ice cream. There were some nice extras for the children on Friday night too. As with all the hotels, large, mainly corporate, groups arrive for the weekends. However, the Dan seemed to cope much better with the influx than other hotels we have stayed at and, to be honest, we hardly noticed they were there. There is a small toddlers pool adjacent to Daniland, the kid's club, which is also partly covered. Daniland itself is quite small and seemed to operate at irregular times of the day but our children were more than happy to busy themselves around the little pool. Reception also organised babysitters for us. They were either hotel staff or from a local agency. Standard rate is about £3 per hour plus a cab fare home. This allowed us to enjoy time to ourselves and experience some of the fantastic restaurants along the front, most notably The Ranch House at the Royal Beach. I guess our only complaint would be the state of the beach. To be honest, the beaches in Eilat are not that great, but it looks to me that the Dan has given up trying to make something of their section. The sun beds looked tatty, there was a lot of rubbish (bottle tops, cigarette butts etc) on the sand, and the condition of the sand itself was poor. An adjacent hotel has, we understand, imported new sand for their beach and I think the Dan needs to do likewise. Other than that, we were delighted with the Dan, and we will certainly stay there again."

"The hotel is situated in a good location, the beach is only a stones throw away. Don't expect soft clean sand. Its sand, but only just. The decor and rooms are ok, but have slightly passed their sell by date. The pool/sea view is lovely and quite enchanting at night. The breakfast is good, but it can be rather crowded. The pool area is clean, but again crowded. The staff are pleasant but nothing more. The spa is ok... smoking is still allowed in most places, even in the hairdressers. There are lovely restaurants nearby for lunch and dinner, They are pretty resonably priced. You are a short distance walk from some lovely shopping areas and the small mall and out door market stands. Overall its a good place to stay for winter sun, just don't expect constant service."

"We stayed here for 3 nights in September. It was packed with Israeli families with tons of young children. It is not a good place for a romantic holiday. The hotel was very clean. Excellent security. The lobby was beautiful. The pool and beach were great. The hotel is directly on the beach and comfortable lounge chairs are available for hotel guests. The hallways and rooms are dated and need to be upgraded. The service was generally excellent. If we reported a problem or a request, it was taken care of immediately. However, there were a few items that we had to notify them about. This was disappointing for the money that we spent; the hotel staff should have checked this. For example, while we requested a king bed, they gave us a room with 2 double beds pushed together. We called the reception desk and they offered us another room. We looked at the other room, but it also contained 2 double beds (and it smelled of cigarete smoke). It was not until the second day that they replaced the 2 beds in our room with a single king bed. The bathroom was large and clean. However, the bathtub backed up with water when we showered. While they came and snaked it, It still did not drain properly. The light on the balcony did not work. While these items are minor, they should not be there at all for over $300 USD a night! The breakfast was plentiful, though the quality of the food was average. I would probably look to stay at another hotel next time I go to Eilat. It is excellent for Israeli standards, but below average for U.S. standards (for the price)."

"I have stayed at the Dan Eilat at least once a year for the past 10 years and there is not much to say other than to go and try it for yourself. The breakfast is best breakfast served I have yet seen in any hotel, in the world!"

"Spent 3 nights in the Dan Eilat hotel first week of April 2006 - a family of 4 with 2 small kids (6 and 4 y/o). had a "family junior suite" - main bedroom / seating area with an additional "kids room" enclosed with a door and two twin beds. A really good experience. Impaccable service -room was serviced at least 3 times a day plus turn down service. As many towles as 2 kids can use - and more... and, of course, free towel service at the pool and the beach, free indoor parking, and the most lavish buffet breakfast seen outside the Ballagio in Las Vegas. Will definetly stay there Again."

"My husband and I stayed 3 nights at the Dan Eilat in March. The grounds and pool area are lush and well kept. The rooms as one poster noted are "funky" in a cartoonish way. I guess we are used to more subtle decor. My husband remarked that the carpet on our floor made him dizzy to look at. Everything is very colorful, which is fun at a beach resort so it was fine. Some of the hotel needed updating. Our room was spacious, clean and had a great view of the pool. The staff was excellent, especially the bellman. They went out of their way to help, even returning our car rental for us after we had already left Eilat. The food was very good. The breakfast was great and had more choices than any breakfast buffet we have tried. The fruit and veggie selection was outstanding. The location was perfect. The hotel parking lot was full and the lot attendant couldn't direct us to additional parking. We had to go back and find a bellman to tell us where municiple parking was. No big deal. All and all a very nice stay."

"Stayed at Dan Eilat during New Year. Although the hotel was full it was a real pleasure. The pool area is very large and we could always find a nice sunny spot to sit in. The location right on the sea is a big plus. The two great things that made this holidy stand out was the proffesional and friendly service and the food quality. In our mind, the food at Dan eilat is a real feast to the eyeses and pallets. Will most probably return to the hotel in the Spring."

"My husband and I stayed there recently for a special occasion and the staff couldn't do enough to make our trip memorable. The rooms are very comfortable, the pool area is fabulous and the food was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - and the benefits of joining the e-Dan club are well worth doing. We intend to go back next year too...!"

The food was great and aplenty. Staff was extermely hospitable and professional. The concirege even arranged a surprise for our anniversary of balloons and champagne in our room. We will definitley go back."
