Excellent staff, good clean accommodatio...
"Excellent staff, good clean accommodation at a budget price. Gave everything it promised, was quiet too, adequate parking facilities - a good choice. Also affords a discount at the adjoining Little Chef restaurant which provided good food if you like that sort of thing."

Value for money
"Stayed here in April. Booked the family room for £15 per night. Clean and adequate for a stopover. Quiet room at the back of the travelodge and staff were helpful. Would not have liked to have paid full price for the room - advance purchase deals are well worth looking out for."

Great value, no problems
"Clean and cheap. Stayed here with wife and two kids 9 & 10. Make sure you book at least 21 days in advance on the travelodge UK site [--] and you can get in as cheap as 10 pounds!!! Real value."

Everything you need!!
"This hotel has been recently refurbished. The rooms are warm and bright and the staff are pleasant. It's pet friendly. We usually stay in Hilton hotels, but for &45 a night this seems much better value!! You can watch digital TV and the king size beds are very comfortable. All rooms are en suite and you can even have films, internet and phone access in your room. Breakfast is at the adjacent Little Chef, which is cheaper than it used to be."

Smelly, dirty carpets, worn out hotel
"When we arrived we were faced with a receptionist who clearly did not know what she was doing. (It turns out she was a cleaner). 20 mins into the arrival procedure someone arrived who did know what to do. Unfortunately when she arrived so did the smell. I am very sorry but that lady has a personal hygiene problem. Unfortunately this seems to be reflected in the majority of the hotel and its staff. Our corridor and room are no better. Admittedly the room is advertised as a smoking room, but it smells of stale cigarettes. The carpets are dirty. The corridor has a combination of BO, trash, and cigarette smoke smells. My wife was literally gagging by the time we were in our room. We paid £55 per night. I would have been relatively content with that had the place had a clean and new feeling with pleasant smelling, well trained and presented staff. I have resided in many travel lodges. This particular hotel should be looked at closely by the hotel chain management. Try an unanounced inspection!!!!!!!!"

Okay for a stopover!
"We recently stayed here for two nights. We had to wait a while to be checked in as there was already couple in front of us and the only person on reception was tied up on the phone obviously taking another reservation. When we did check in the lady was pleasant and helpful. We paid £26 per night on the internet and this was excellent value for what we got. The room and bathroom was clean and both were spacious. We only wanted the room as a place to sleep as we were seeing friends and attending a wedding and it was okay just for that. It is not four star luxury but it is more than adequate. A word of advice, the little chef across the way is a complete rip off for breakfast - £7.99 for full english and £1.99 for a couple of slices of toast. We drove a few minutes down the road (towards Dumfries town centre) and went to the local Morrisons supermarket which does a fantastic breakfast for half the price! Would stay again as a stopover."

"When we arrived, we were faced with unhelpful and surly reception staff. The lobby area also stank of rubbish and sweat - it was a truly nauseating odour. Trash was lying in the hallway, and was there over 2 hours later. We found a cockroach in our bedroom, the fittings were poor, and the general furnishings were very tired. The only food was from a Little Chef in the carpark, or vending machines in the lobby which were badly stocked. When we went to a restaurant up the road, and told the staff where we were staying, they actually groaned and shook their heads in disbelief. Ok, we didn't pay a huge amount of money for this hotel, but half the amount would have been too much."
