Filthy place, rude staff! ***AVOID!!***
"Reception staff rude, very uninterested in the customers and very blunt. Our caravan had a dirty mop in the door way, the whole caravan smelt of foist and sick, there was rubbish in the bin and the whole place was dusty. However, the main issue was that we had no electric and we had a baby that needed feeding. Complained in reception, received no apology, but got moved to another caravan which was just as bad as the first one! A piece of wood under one of the sofas in the living room was broken, the bathroom smelt of urine and behind the toilet was filthy. The closet which is used to hang coats in, had been used as as bin for the cleaners, it had dust and rubbish swept into it. There was a foist smell which seemed to be coming from the seals around the windows, which meant the whole caravan stunk! At one point the caravan door wouldn't open, meaning we all had to exit via the window! When we rang to inform someone, the lady laughed at us! In the restaurant on site, all the staff are rude and their attitude towards customers is quite frankly disgusting! Who trained this set of baboons?! They eat chips from customers plates before serving them to the customers. 1 portion of chips took over half an hour to arrive! (Maybe if the staff didn't eat them all then there would not be a problem in the first place!!) when I asked for the money back as we needed to go, they were rude, never apologized and just blanked us until the manager came in. They interrupt you while ordering and stand there talking about going out drinking and fighting and where does the best Chinese!! This restaurant is also known as 'the jam jar cocktail bar', but yet they didn't even have the correct ingredients to make the cocktails on the menu, and a pitcher was in fact served in a water jug. They serve frozen deserts, which when arrive are still frozen! And the descriptions of their food are all very misleading! The under 5's play area is filthy! I felt physically sick that i had taken my nephew in there. Down the side of the soft play mat, there was an inch of dust, rubbish and dirty socks, I was disgusted! It's one thing allowing the caravans to be unclean, but a kids play area should not be in that state! We have emailed to complain, however we don't seem to be getting taken very seriously. We have only been offered a partial refund as they believe this to be enough compensation for the nightmare of a 'holiday' that we experienced . I am furious with the state of the place and how they think it is acceptable to let it be like this! NEVER again will I visit Cayton Bay, this rotten, filthy place should be closed down!!"

"This is the 3rd year i a row we have been to this resort,we stay in a private owned caravan on this resort and i must say the owner cant be more helpful last year we had a pipe burst and within 10 minutes it was being fixed. Only 2 negatives really 1 although its a pet friendly site there not welcome in any of the bars or facilities on site and 2 on arrival this year found we couldn't take cars to vans to unload our things so it was a bit of a pain but overall we found it a lovely experience and im sure we will be making it 4 years in a row next year."

"I booked a gold plus caravan for 7 of us. I opened the caravan and was shocked. It was extremely dated and run down looking. I went straight to reception and said that there was no way i had been given the accommodation i had paid for. The unhelpful receptionist stated that you don't pay for a new or modern van - gold plus means 3 bedroom, central heating and a DVD player. Our caravan had all that so we were getting 'what we paid for'. I asked to be moved as I wasn't happy at all and was told that the park was fully booked (it definitely wasn't - we found out). I would've went home but it took us 6 long hours to get there and thought I would try to make the most of it for the sake of the kids. Anyway, my 4 day experience was horrendous and one I will never repeat. The swimming pool was filthy - dead bluebottles everywhere and slimy scum clearly visible -my kids refused to use it. The clubhouse was terrible with only a handful of people watching the evening entertainment. Mind you, the tables were sticky and the drinks a rip off so that probably had a lot to do with it. The site was in the middle of nowhere with absolutely nothing to do. Back to the 'gold plus caravan' - we tried to use the oven once but it let out so much smoke that the smoke alarm repeatedly went off, the toilet seat was broken, the gas ran out mid-shower, the steps were so low down as was the handrail that it made it extremely difficult for my elderly disabled father to get in and out. Despite stating when booking that 2 of my guests were disabled, we had no parking or footpath next to the caravan - we had to cut over grass (weather was terrible so it was wet and mucky). The sofa bed in the living room was disgusting. It was a paper thin (well used) mattress that lay over the wooden frame of the filthy couch - agony to lie on. All in all it was the most horrendous experience we have had and I would definitely not recommend wasting your hard earned cash on this 'resort'. I cant believe I did!!!!! "

"Total disappointment lodge was more like a fancy caravan but for £530. For 3 nights was expecting at least some parking it was situated across from park and club so it was noisy all the time usually you hire a lodge to be in a more secluded area and to have its own parking we might as well have gone for a basic caravan the lodge looked unfinished the windows were filthy there were no blinds and people using short cut to park were looking in caravan every 2 minutes had to sit with curtains closed on photos it showed lovely decking we got a set of steps so there was nowhere to sit out TOTAL RIPOFF will never go again "

some staff very untrustworthy.
"enjoyed our mon-fri hol apart from the following=My daughter found a blackberry mobile phone in the play area,so we went to security on the door of entertainment complex and told him we had found the phone please could he put it on the tannoy and come to us in the club when the owner came,I was told by the security man=if you dont hand it to me now you will be arrested for theft as its company policy anything found has to be handed in !!! we had no option but this man=Did not say thankyou to my daughter for being honest, and Did not take her name/contact details incase the person wanted to say thankyou. My husband was annoyed so an hour later he approached the other security guy and said if its not collected does it belong to my daughter-=he said, weve text someone on the phone to say we have it and to collect it.what my husband didnt know was that my daughter tried to do that but the phone was locked and had a pin code on it !!!!!!!!!!!!!! so unless he was Dynamo and was that clever he cud know the code then hes a Liar !!!!! Issue number two= my 3 mth old son was very ill the night before we went home so we all very tired and left a cupboard full of clothes in the caravan which included new clothes,i rang the next morning for them to tell me they arent there !!!!!! so either the checker or cleaner has them !!!! i rang customer services who were both abrupt and unhelpful saying its not their resposibility, well i know that it was our fault but what i also know is that the clothes belong to us not them and their customer care skills are apalling.I have now rang head office as i had three promises of phone calls back and never received them. The lady at head office said she will check if phone has been collected !!I said my main issue is the untrustworthy staff and also how the security guard spoke to us.I will not be returning to park resorts holiday camps due to the fact that the staff do not care about their customers ( the ones that actually pay their wages),I was promised phone calls back which never happened and will happily tell friends and family not to holiday there !!!!"

not possible to leave NO stars!
"Well, cutting a long story short.....dont spend your hard earned holiday money on this resort. After suffering amnesia i was duped into going back here following a complaint against a previous encounter-" we promise you will have a trouble free holiday..." HAHAHA. Tired, expensive and the poorest relation of any other caravan park i have ever stayed at! Avoid. Location between Scarborough and Filey is nice. However, i would stop at either of these locations in future."

Value for Money
"Before we visited I was a bit worried due to bad comments on Trip Advisor. When we arrived there was no problems in getting our key, we were late arriving but having phoned ahead to let them know our keys were with the Security Guard. He directed us on the map to our caravan. We arrived at our caravan and entered. Not a problem, place was a bit tired but clean and the bedding could not be faulted, clean crisp sheets and duvets and pillows. Kitchen was well stocked with plates cups etc all clean. Over the weekend we made use of the pool with its 5 small slides and one large slide together with fountains which the kids loved. The pool was shallow and safe for kids again clean and tidy. The Cabaret evenings were very holiday campish, which was brill for the kids and they thoroughly enjoyed. Everybody was kind and helpful and we enjoyed our stay. PS The China Express 2.8 miles away did a wicked chinese and delivered."

Fantastic Holiday, would go back
"Before going on this holiday I was very concerned about the park from reading some of the other reviews and I shouldn't of been. When we arrived our first impression of the site ws very nice and clean and when we made our way to check in we expected there to be lots of people waiting to check we were surprised when there was only a couple of people sitting waiting, it was about 2.26 and we could check in at 2.30 when I went to the check in girl she said I had to take a seat and wait till 2.30 so I did it just made me laugh and then after she stood looking into thin aire for 4 minutes she then called me up which did make us giggle but I suppose the have their rules, when we got to our caravan it was very clean. We were there for a week and used the pool every day nearly our 21/2 year old daughter loved it the only thing for us was you could not swim in it but very child orientated and the life guards were on the ball the whole time. We went to the kids show a couple of time and again our daughter enjoyed it the drinks in the bar were abit expensive but I suppose thats how they make their money we did have a meal in the restaurant one night and for the money it wasn't bad but the bonus was our daughter went in the soft play area whilst we enjoyed a the rest of our meal in peace. The site was also nice and quiet I think there must be a lot of privately owned caravans with having a young daughter we were happy with this I think if you had older kids they would be a bit bored but we would return to this site and other park resort site. This was our first park resort holiday we have been to Haven sites before and must prefered this one but don't think I would go here when the kids are off as it would be alot different then."
