"6 of us stayed at the Waterford last week on a golfing trip. Rooms were spotless, lovely comfortable beds, breakfast excellent, great restaurant and pub recommendations and we were able to walk to all bars and restaurants with the Waterford being only a few minutes from the centre of town. The owners are extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else in Southport. As good a private hotel as I have ever stayed in and many UK hotels could learn a lot from a visit there."

Would certainly reccommend this place!
"Three of us recently spent a night at the Waterford. As soon as we saw the place we knew we had made the right choice. I booked here because of the reviews on the internet and can honestly say we were not dissapointed. The room was beautiful and very clean with matching bedding and curtains, tea service, iron and board, even dressing gowns for all. The en-suite bathroom which again was lovely and clean had a massive corner bath with overhead shower. The breakfast in the morning was cooked to perfection with good quality ingredients. I would certainly stay here again and would have no hesitation whatsover in reccommending this place."

Great hotel - great views!!
"We have just returned from a short break at this superb hotel. We were made to feel very welcome, with a carefully made breakfast, meticulously cleaned rooms and excellent amenities. It is a delightfully maintained small hotel, tastefully decorated and friendly. Trina and Paul, the proprietors, were very helpful with our every need for local knowledge, down to suggesting the best restaurants and places to go! The hotel has an amazing location, overlooking the Marine Lake, with the beach in view behind that. A short walk down the road is "Lord Street" - the main shopping area of Southport, which is also packed with restaurants and tourist attractions. A splendid place - it has everything - location, hospitality and amenities - would recommend to anyone! :-)"

Great place to stay
"During the past 6 years we've been to Southport several times, but this was the first time that we actually were really pleased with our accomodation. It's a very clean, pleasant and well located hotel, run by a very friendly and helpful couple. The minute you enter the hotel you feel right at home. Breakfast is simply delicious, something to look forward to. The hotel is situated in convenient walking distance to several shops, restaurants, the theatre, a movie theatre, the bowling arcade and, of course, the promenade. We would always book our next stay in the Waterford Hotel and look forward to returning. You'll find many hotels and bed and breakfast places in Southport, but you'll hardly find one which is cleaner, better and more taken care of than this one."

"Stayed at the Waterford Hotel on October 9th. Very average stay.Pleasant hosts who provided a good breakfast. The bedroom was shabby with worn furniture, an uncomfortable bed , powerless shower in a bathroom with lino on floor!!. Woken at 3am by fellow guest who had t.v on full power for 2 hours.! Hotel has over rated reviews - wouldnot stay here again. First hotel we have ever stayed at where you had to pay full tarriff on ARRIVAL. ( have travelled to many countries in europe.)"

Wonderful relaxing break
"We booked this hotel on the last minute after looking at the reviews on Trip Advisor. We were extremely pleased with our choice. We received a lovely welcome and were shown to a very nice comfortable room with fresh clean bed linen and a spotlessly clean ensuite bathroom & toilet. Our breakfast was excellent and served in a beautiful dining room with relaxing music playing in the background. Trina & Paul, our Proprietors, were wonderful hosts and made our break very enjoyable & relaxing. The hotel is situated in the quieter part of Southport but within easy walking distance from the shops and restaurants/theatre. We would definately stay here again."

Outstanding Hotel run by Modest Owners
"I booked this hotel for a weekend purely going by the reviews on this site! I was not disappointed. This Hotel is outstanding in almost every way BUT you would have to stay there to realise it. Awarded 4 stars and a Silver Medal, but you won't find this in any of the hotel literature or on the website. The owners are too modest. The room I stayed in was furnished to a high standard with a television, fridge and thermostatically controlled radiators. Carpets, curtains very clean and well maintained and bed linen crisp and well laundered. Bed was very comfortable. The presentation of the room on entrance was excellent and demonstrated the trouble the owners went to in maintaining it. The bathroom was very clean and plenty of quality towels were provided. Breakfast consisted of a cereal of your choice, followed by a sizzlingly hot full English breakfast, toast, tea or coffee and orange juice. The perfect meal to set you up for the day in a well appointed dining room, with fresh flowers on every table. The hotel is positioned well away from the noisy end of Southport (read the reviews of some other Southport Hotels), yet within walking distance of the shops, with the pier and the seafront. being a very short walk away. A very enjoyable weekend which I hope to repeat next year! RW"

Best hotel in town!!
"We are two couples from Switzerland and had an excellent stay in the Waterford Hotel in Southport! Paul and Trina are very kind and helpful! From Switzerland we are used to have a proper and clean surrounding. So the Waterford Hotel is really clean and proper. We travelled a lot arround the UK, but the Waterford Hotel was one of the best we have stayed ever! The hotel is managed at its best by Paul and Trina. The two became friends of us, so kind and nice they are!"

Great place to stay
"Have just returned from our second visit to the Waterford and were not disapointed. Trina and Paul were as hospitable as ever and the new dining room is a vast improvement. Would reccomend to anyone planing a trip Southport to give them a ring (GB)."

Yet again BRILLIANT
"Returned again to this wonderful hotel but this time there was 14 of us. Ages ranged from 60 down to 3. We had a wonderful welcome and throughout our weekend stay, nothing was too much trouble. The owners, Trina and Paul lookes after us like members of the family and the feel good factor you get makes the holiday special. If you are visiting Southport, this has to be the best place to stay."

A Quality Hotel for the Quality Guest.
"I have just returned from a refreshing visit to Southport made all the better by my stay in the Waterford Hotel. From the moment I opened the car door having parked in the car park to the moment of my departure I received the personal attention of Mr and Mrs Meyler, the owners, which could not have been bettered. This ranged from the offer to carry my bags up to the spacious and well furnished room, the friendly welcome as I checked in, to the "Is there anything else I can do for you or is there anything else you need". The room was in a quiet position, just as I requested, and the bathroom was spotless. The breakfast was plentiful, and freshly cooked by Mrs Meyler and served by Mr Meyler who was keen to see that the guests were entirely happy. A packed breakfast was offered for the day of my departure as I had to leave very early (5.30 a.m.). The hotel is a very short walk away from the town centre and in a quiet position. Just a word of warning though! If you are a raucous, party loving, noisy guest, this is not the hotel for you! AND even more pleasing is the fact that YOU wont be welcome!!!! Dr JH"
