Fabulous Holiday and amazing staff
"In August, we stayed at Butlins Skegness as a large family of 4 adults and 2 children. We chose the Gold Apartment for the amount of rooms we required and to have the freedom of self catering.
On arrival at the site we went through the process of booking in, which although there were large queues, was dealt with quickly and professionally by all the staff.
The apartment was exactly as we thought. It was roomy enough for 6 people and the beds were very comfortable. The only thing that let it down was some areas were quite grubby and the wall heater looked as if it had been fitted wonky by someone who couldn't see. Attention to detail is not at its best and the cleaning of the rooms was poor. The beds were remade in the same sheets and the dishwasher was switched on for 3 glasses and a mug. Towels were replaced each day but they didn't always take away the used ones so we ended up with 3 bundles of new and used towels by the time we left.
However, it was a great holiday we came for and a great holiday we got. The amount of entertainment included in the price of the holiday is immense. The live shows in Reds and Centre Stage are second to none. The quality of the Pantomime was hands above anything you can see in the theatres at London. There was so much talent on the stages and you could see they worked so hard to make it special. The whole place gave sheer delight to the children and brought back childhoods to all the adults. So much so we had lost our voices from screaming and singing by the time we got home.
There are many great places to eat with great quality of food to chose from. We cant write this review without mentioning our favourite restaurant, The Pub & Kitchen. Our first night there was for the Sunday lunch. We had arrived a bit late in the afternoon and it was very busy. My daughter is disabled and needs to eat when she wants or she gets very tired and will be in pain.
On arrival we spoke to a lady called Suzie (Zsuzsa) who told us there would be a 50 minute wait for food. We also knew that all other restaurants were busy as well so decided to book a table and wait but, we also explained to Suzie about our daughter. We were sat at a table in the bar area which we were happy to stay at, when within 5 minutes a waiter came to take our order. Our food was then delivered to our table within less then 15 minutes. Suzie had gone out of her way to get our order to us as quickly as possible. The quality of the Sunday lunch was excellent with everything being fresh and home made by the chef, Peter.. We were so happy with the food, service and helpfulness we went back again during the week as the children wanted to see Suzie. As soon as we walked in the door, Suzie came straight to us with a huge smile. We again had wonderful service from the staff and Suzie with great food. On the way out the children ran to give Suzie a hug which she happily did. They still tell everyone about Suzie when talking about their holiday. Sometimes its the small things that make your day special and something to remember like saying hello, being remembered, holding the door for you, children's hugs, going that extra mile, a wonderful meal, and Suzie, Peter and the staff at The Pub and Kitchen give you that in bundles.
The Redcoats are just as you expect, friendly, always smiling and look after the children so well, parents can relax knowing their children are safe and having the time of their life. The shows put on by the Redcoats are so professional and spectacular. A special mention for Red Coats Liam and Rachael is due as they spent a lot of time with our children and talking to us with such enthusiasm and happiness.
We also have a shout out for staff member Caz Smith who we looked forward to seeing for our afternoon hot dogs in the fun fair. She was always smiling and pleased to see you and was a joy.
Butlins should be so proud of their staff as, as well as all the wonderful things to do for adults and children together, the staff make the holiday by working tirelessly to keep everyone happy and every member of staff had excellent customer service skills.
I hugely recommend a family holiday at Butlins Skegness for the sheer joy it brings you all. It is truly value for money. Where else can you see Stephen Mulhern and Diversity in one week. As soon as we got home we booked our holiday for next year and cant wait to go back and see all the lovely people & staff we met and made our holiday special and memorable."

"Went to Butlins Skegness. On arrival we put our bags in and checked the place to make sure it was clean and safe as we had a baby with us. Then we left and went to look around.
When we returned we were horroified to find that someone has broken into our place. Urinated on the carpet in the bedroom, been through our bags and used the toilet leaving faeces everywhere.
The staff did not help in any way. They didn’t report it to security. They didn’t go to look at the room until an hour after reported. Their solution was to move us to another room of which smelt of cannabis. We were also told to make sure we are out of the complex by 12 otherwise we would not get a refund. We had no charge on our phones, leaving at 11 at night, a 3 hour drive home with a baby.
I’m the end we left the same day of arrival. Getting home at 3am."

no doctor on site
"went for a break after husband's prostate operation he is 70 , and after going ot of the centre stage for a cigarrete he returned to his seat assisted by two of the door staff who informed me he had fallen on a wet carpet on the way back in , they asked if he needed 1st aid 'to which he replied no but if i need a doctor later how do i go on? they informed him to go to the gatehouse, but we wanted to watch the show first, we returned to our chalet where my huband took acouple of painkiller's, the next morning at 7a.m he went to the gatehouse, and asked to see a doctor and was told we don't have a doctor on site and was informed he'd have to go to hospital , which i did and was later diagnosed as having whiplash which he is still suffering' but the main thing is they should have shut that entrance to the centre stage off that night as a lot of people used it later after my husband's accident . it was not blocked off until the next evening a serious breach of health and safety ,so be aware of having an accident ,also the wetness of the carpet was caused by a broken urinal which is a disgusting thingnto fall on"

"We have just returned home from a short break at Butlins Skegness and to say the break was not good is an understatement.
We booked silver accommodation for our stay but upon arrival we decided to upgrade to the new beachside chalets , as we have never stayed in them before, this was a decision that we soon regretted.
Our main issue was on the Thursday of our Monday to Friday break. We had arranged to go to skyline whilst our 2 boys aged 14 and 17 went swimming. The boys had left their mobiles in the chalet and we arranged to meet them around 11.15 at the chalet to let them in to collect their mobiles and head into Skegness town for the day.
To our surprise my wife got a text from my youngest son at 11.16 to say they were in the chalet and would wait for us.
Upon arrival back at the chalet shortly after we asked how they had gained entry to the chalet, their response was that a member of butlins staff had let them in as they were waiting outside.
We reported this to guest services and an investigation was launched, eventually the member of staff who had let them in to the chalet was identified through checks on the door. When I went to guest services to find out what had been done I was put in a room with my wife and we spoke to a member of the management team. She said that the member of staff had been identified and the issue was being dealt with, she then continued to say that there was no harm done and if my 14 year old had gone to guest services they would have given him a key card, if we as parents had have wanted him to have a key card then we would have given him one, the fact that he does not have a key card is that we did not want him to have one.
Not only did this issue take up most of our last day of holiday I am amazed that such a nonchalant attitude was taken to this issue. Yes nothing did happen this time but the fact that a member of butlins staff let 2 children into our accommodation without checking beggarâs belief. My oldest child is autistic and has a habit of starting to cook and leaving the room, hence why he does not have a key card.
Not only did this member of staff breach all company policies and procedures, health and safety and security issues but he has also made us feel like we have been violated, they could have been kids chancing things and emptied our chalet which had money, mobile phones and tablets in it.
As premier members we are disgusted in the way that this has been handled, the fact that this member of staff was even briefed in the staff meeting the previous week about this makes it worse (we was told this by the kind lady who did the housekeeping in the chalet later in the day).
Other issues we encountered were:-
Hair on the walls and floor of the shower,
Hairs and bits on the toilet,
Bits on the bathroom floor,
Bits on the lounge floor,
Stains on the middle cushion on settee,
Draft coming through the patio door (right hand side) leading to the balcony,
Door to chalet was sticking and had to slam to close (Reported and fast service from maintenance to sort it),
Plates needed to be washed prior to use,
Main bedroom window wouldnât open (Reported it on the Tuesday, left name and number etc, but had to go in the following day as it was not sorted. Came to sort it Wednesday afternoon),
Had to boil a kettle to shave due to not having any warm/hot water in the bathroom (this was reported on Tuesday, but never got sorted),
The restaurant emptied their bottle bins late at night (after 11pm most nights), very noisy not good when you have an autistic child who has sleeping difficulties.
FLT and lorry activity early morning (before 7am most mornings),
Swimming pool changing area could have done with a clean regularly (nappies and other items in the cubicles)
We have had correspondence from our complaint and the fact is that butlins feel that nothing has been done wrongly as the member of staff has been spoken to, this apparently makes things ok.
We as a family have had 22 breaks at butlins since 2009. We are gold premier members and have booked for next February and August. (These holidays were booked before this incident), we were even looking at buying a caravan as we liked the resort that much.
We will not be booking any more holidays with butlins and to be honest if we had not have started paying for next years holidays we would not be going on them. As a family over the years we have spent a great deal of money with the resort and the staff we have dealt with have been really great with us, even when we go to discover butlins to book our next break we are on first name terms. I am really disappointed on how the higher management team deal with loyal customers.
I hope that this issue that we had has been resolved as I would not like any family to go through "

"We stayed in the sea view apartments and they were spotless, the price included towels and daily housekeeping which we could not fault. We paid for the premier food package and the food was great no complaints from anyone, lots of choice for the adults and children. The staff are all really friendly. On leaving the holiday we realized we had left our sons comfort rabbits and 2 weeks later we have just received a call from lost property to say that they ended up being washed with the bedding but were immediately handed into property and are being posted back to us first thing, fantastic. The only negative are the queues for the entertainment on a evening for center stage. "

263 Sandhills Butlins Skegness
"Conned by mother & son Margaret & Mathew Upton we have stayed in the caravan village for over 15 years and have never had any issues with any private hire owners until now. The £50 security bond/ deposit. We got £10 back. The only 2 problems we had in her van was the shower head tightener was slack so we just left the shower in 1 place. And the other was a faulty grill flame. Dirty cooking utensils and lots of personal items left around. It was bearable despite these problems. However when we can to get out deposit back various excuses were made firstly to try and stall and then in an attempt for them to keep the deposit. We're were outraged but left without any course of re-dress as she is a private let. We have since found out that this is the usual was that this mother and son operate in order to get an extra £50 per week for letting there caravan. OUTRAGEOUS BEHAVIOR "

Dave Brown caravan hire Butlins
"Previous review alarmed me, however we couldn't fault the caravan . It was clean, well stocked and a very reasonable price. Mr Brown was very helpful and met us promptly with the keys. He showed us how to get to the caravan and told us what we needed to know about how things worked. We had a fabulous stay and would recommend.

"We go to Butlins every year we love it. We stayed in the new beach hut apartments witch have balcony's with sitting area, they are lovely. We had 3 apartments for all the family we all thought they was grate. The food was nice overall we had a nice time until the last day..
When it was windy one of the patio doors to the balcony swung with wind trapping my 14 month old daughter finger. There was no catches to hold these doors back no safety. We went to hospital when we went home that day as she was using them fine but just to check they was ok plus we saw a medical person at Bbutlins. Her nails black and will fall of .
After reporting this to Butlins for no compensation just for the pure fact of the situation being resolved so this matter doesn't happen again to another child. After weeks of investigating they have said hope she ok and there not doing any thing about it no retaining catches will be fitted on the doors. So mark my words it will happen again. As a child friendly resort you would think they would Understand.
Am upset and disappointment as we go every year and they basically don't want to know.
We are not fussy people we could of complained about the ants we noticed all over the hall way but we just got on with it.
If any more accident with the doors
Please come forward as my daughter is apparently the first accident so let's see how many more."

butlins isn,t butlins anymore
"Stayed in a Butlins silver room July 2016 Monday - Friday, arrived early had a look round the camp tried to check at place where we told to check in and was sent somewhere else who was going to send us back to where we had just come from, eventually we got our card keys and stood hovering over the door until 4pm, because the cards would not work till then, we unpacked and went for dinner stopping for a smoke under the shelter on the way what a DISGRACE walking in the open air, food was not too bad and entertainment was ok,next morning we had a shower spent the day in Skegness town after breakfast, came back to the chalet mid afternoon to find the bathroom wet through leaking shower base went back into the bedroom in single file as the door would not open for the bed, found all the facilities shut early crazy golf, fairground ,children's play area and snooker hall just one night as they said they short staffed for snooker, 2-50p for crazy golf is crazy, my husband enjoys a smoke sat outside at a bar no ash trays on table had to leave table and go and stand under a hut which I think is rather stupid, but largely ignored smoking areas like everyone else did, all in Butlins is not what it use to be and we went home a day early, and complained with an email to Butlins they said they would ring in a fortnight we are still waiting, definitely will NOT be back............"

Honest review just back from butlins
"Nice place and Skegness is good with seal sanctuary down by the beach,Lets talk about Butlins,Went for 7 days silver apartments ,Apartment ok wasn't dirty nor spotless but livable for 7 days.
Tea bags and sugar and little milks for tea when you arrive, out and about there is a lot to do do for kids, circus, cinema, live shows ,diversity was there but too busy and walked out as packing people in like sardines telling you where yu can sit and not what
skyline -bit pricey for meals-Average price about 8 pound for fish and chips I would say and Burgerking about 8 pound a meal also and the restaurants are quite dear so meals pricey as are drinks -nearly 4 pound a pint or bottle of beer so better of with pint-more in it lol.
spar is quite dear so prob best to go shopping, they have a lidl-iceland-morrisons-tesco all situated near train station-
If you looking for cheaper food exit out Butlins side gate and travel up the beach path a little bit and there's a few pubs with karaoke, one pubs called beachcomber and is not the beachcomber inn that's in Butlins, little chip shop there as well
drinks are too dear in spar also and get the bus to Skegness and back as good nus routes
carnival-if your kids are under certain height wont be allowed on dogems -gocarts-walzers-my little one is 5 and still had a bit to go on height restriction
plenty to do nice place-spend a fortune lol
Aquarium in Skegness is a con ,lot of rubbish i thought but did see a shark-nice place on the up i reckon-will go back."
