fab family holiday
"Barry & Andrea are excellent hosts throughout your stay with fun and plenty of games for kids in the bar area. The rooms are spotless for hygiene and space for all numbers of people. Minutes walk to the seafront. The hosts are very helpful with your needs and getting best value for your money. Great selection when it comes to breakfast for all ages. I can not say a bad word about our week long stay at the Hurstmere Hotel, and will definitely visit again in the near future. "

"We stayed over the easter holiday break 2008 for a 3 night stay. It was the third time we had stayed at the Hurstmere, and the service was as good as previous visits. The proprietors, Barry and Andrea as friendly and helpful as ever. Since we were last there in Nov 2007 the rooms now have new LCD TV's in them with built in freeview giving you much more choice of TV programmes should wish to watch TV at some point during your stay. As on previous visits nothing was too much trouble, if you want advice or suggestions of what to see and do during your stay or the best places to eat there was always helpful suggestions and advise from the Andrea & Barry. If your looking for good value for money in a friendly welcoming hotel then look no further, and situated roughly halfway between the Tower and the Pleasure Beach perfect to access all main attractiuons in Blackpool. We will be back sometime later probably for the illuminations. Dave & Cheryl."

"We have just returned from an excellent weekend away. We arrived at the hotel at 4.00pm, and were met by the owners Barry and Andrea. Upon checking in, we could tell that nothing was to be too much trouble for the owners. They were polite, helpful, warm and welcoming. We were lucky enough to be able to choose our rooms, and as there were 4 of us (2 rooms) we were able to have rooms right next door to each other. The rooms were warm, and comfortable. Sure itâs not a suite in a 5 star hotel but it was perfect for the price and very reasonable. A TV with all the freeview channels is in the room which is enough for the amount of time spent in there. At breakfast there was a good choice from simple orange juice to a full english. The food was of a good quality and exactly whatâs needed before a hectic day doing the sights of Blackpool. If you are looking for a quiet night in, there is a nice small bar in the basement of the hotel were there is a pool table, games for kids etc, and the drinks again are reasonable. For a more lively evening, Barry and Andrea are able to recommend good places to eat that are close to the main entertainment centre of Blackpool (a 5 min taxi ride or 20 min gentle walk). This hotel is perfect for couples and families. Babies are catered for as the hotel provides a travel cot, fridge and bottle warmers for the little ones. All in all a perfect hotel in a perfect location, right between the pleasure beach and tower. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Blackpool."

Very helpful staff
"My wife and I have just returned home to Australia after an extended holiday around the world and on 9 and 10 October 2007, we were guests at the Hurstmere Hotel at Blackpool (Barry and Andrea - Proprieters). It was my wife's birthday and we enjoyed a lovely meal at the Harry Ramsden's Fish Restaurant 60 - 63 The Promenade Blackpool after which we topped off the evening at the Tower Ballroom. It was not until next morning that my wife realised that she had left her handbag containing her purse with credit cards and personal information at Harry Ramsden's. She had placed it on the floor under her chair against the wall. Up until then she had not been taking her handbag with her during the previous stages of our holiday and we departed the restaurant for the Tower without realising it had been left behind. It was not until the next morning she discovered the bag missing and we were not confident the bag and it's contents would be recovered. When we mentioned the loss to Barry of the Hurstmere Hotel he was extremely positive and helpful advising the Police and continually phoned the restaurant until the first staff member (Kim) arriving there told him that the bag had been found and was held in the Restaurant's safe. The bag and all it's contents were returned to my wife and through you we would like to express our very sincere thanks and appreciation to all those involved at Harry Ramsden's for their honesty and integrity and to Barry and Andrea who were so comforting at what was a very worrying and emotional time. We really enjoyed our stay at Blackpool made all the more memorable by some wonderful and thoughtful people."

Clean and warm welcome
"Stayed on the weekend the clocks went back 07. The Hotel is situated between south and central piers so was close to most things. On arrival we had to wait to check into the room and the host seemed very manic!! Obviously Fridays are a hotels busiest time but it didn`t create a great ambiance from the start. Upon seeing room , we found it to be spotlessly clean , but the loo seat was loose and the room was a trifle cold. Bed was`nt comfy and the TV was on a bracket right above the bed that meant watching it was only possible in a position like an astronaught ready for take off with NASA.!!! Also we slept in fear that it would drop off and KILL us. The shower area was poor and there is more power in a watering can, the head offered very little movement at all, not ideal if you are tall or short. The host was very keen on stressing the need for no take-aways or packaging in rooms and telling us he likes to shut bar early rather than welcoming his guests. The car parking was secure but was a 5min walk away and in the need of emergancy there would be a proper faff getting car out if one of the first in. We had B&B and in the morning the breakfast was poor in our opinion. The system means filling in a form the night before ( I like to choose at the time) we had basically a full english ( it came on a plate a touch bigger than a saucer, perhaps it was part of a set as the orange juice came in a thimble!! no joke) Poor quality produce was used ie cheap sausage 1 of ! even the tea was lousy!!! and portion sizes were very stingy ( more toast was offered but a full english should do you all day this didnt and I didnt enjoy it. we actually forwent it the next day and used a cafe that the host told us about round the corner. The host was pleasant enough and as i say the place was clean, but would i stop again? NO. I would however recomend this place to people who want to lose weight and dont mind being told what to do all the time in a condersending manner."

Really good northern hospitality
"Fully met our expectations in every way and far exceeded them in the warmth of the hospitality and the excellent breakfasts. Excellent position for getting on the trams which are the way to see the lights and to go in the tower and the city center. Barry and Andrea fully deserve their rating as one of the best small hotels in Blackpool. Brill internet connection too !"

i'd go there again
"I booked a double room for my girlfriend and myself. it cost £25 per person and at the last minute my sister booked the last double room this was good value for money as i've seen some of the cheaper hotels first hand! The hotel is fine except the cold tap would not turn off sometimes. The loo seat was a bit loose. Breakfast was very good and they had very sercure parking for free. they only let couples and families stay so we had a good nights sleep, no noise. I would recommend the hotel to anyone. Good location very close to front near south and central"
