"just had a weekend stop for the lights with our son who is autistic as well as having downs syndrome and we couldn't have been made to feel more welcome dispite having arrived later than expected on the Friday evening. The hosts Simon and Rhona couldn't have tried harder to make our stay as comfortable as possible and the food would be hard to beat anywhere. All made fresh at the time of ordering with fresh herbs and spices, excellent! The rooms were in need of an update and this was presently underway in the lounge area. For those wanting to get away from the hen and stag brigade this would be an ideal location for any family or elderly visitors. Thanks for a lovely break, the service was a breath of fresh air, we will be back."

There was so much to eat and the portions so big we just could not go thro the 4th course. The rooms were very clean and most of all u both always ve time to talk to the guest and the atmosphere good. "I have just returned from the New Guilderoy Hotel in Blackpool with my Mother, 14 year old daughter and her best friend. I can honestly say that most of the reviews we read before going on our trip were spot on. I read one review which was a little disappointing. I know that Simon and Rhona were also disappointed by this review. Not because of it's content or the guests opinions but purely because some of their guests were unhappy with their stay. If they had spoken to Simon about their concerns he would have moved heaven and earth to fix it - as they did with my Mother.....Thankyou both. Rhona and Simon are the best hotel hosts I have ever met - and I've met a few!!!! I could not believe it when they told us they only took the hotel on this season. They are so professional and helpful in everything they do with great plans for renovating the hotel. They are so committed to these plans I'm sure I won't recognise parts of the hotel when we return - which will be soon. Parts of the hotel are being discretely upgraded even as I type this. The hotel itself is comfortable and spotlessly clean. Our breakfast every morning was wonderful and filled us up for most of the day. Even the girls got up in the morning for breakfast - anyone with teenage daughters will know what a compliment this is! Parking - I got parked right at the door of the hotel and left the car there for four days. Buses and trams are a minutes walk so who needs to drive. There were numerous other parking places in the street. I could go on and on writing this review but you only have to read the other reviews to know that you won't find a better place to spend a shortbreak in Blackpool. Excellent value for money, good location and great company. Go on! Give it a go ....... you won't be disappointed. But remember, if you are ...... tell Rhona and Simon and just like Bob the Builder ..... Can they fix it? YES THEY CAN!!!!!!"

"Having read the reviews on this site we were looking forward to our short stay at the guildroy. What a dissapointment ! The location was quiet with good parking right outside the hotel, and the tram stop was only a short walk away. The big downer for us was the room we were given, a double en-suite on the top floor.Every floorboard in the room creaked not just a little, a lot ! Every step was followed by a hell of a racket , god knows what the people below us thought of it. The decor of the room was from the nineteen fifties topped off with the smell of stale ciggarete smoke. The mattress and pillows on the bed were uncomfortable but, to be fair the linen was freshley laundered. The plus points were the owners who were very friendly and the nicely cooked breakfast. A lot of money needs to be invested in the Guildroy to bring the rooms up to scratch."

"After reading all the positive reviews on this site we were determined to stay at this friendly bed and breakfast. Though they were technically booked with a no vacencies posted in the window, they didn't turn away two young couples and took the time and effort to make us feel at home. The breakfast served was generous and service at all times was of the highest quality. This is an affordable bed and breakfast which runs with the highest class. With the future plans that Simon and Rhona mentioned to us we have no doubt that this will become a successful and sort after place in Blackpool. We are sure to return in the future from Steve, Gem, Guesty and Laura."

Wonderful Romantic Break

"We booked this mid-week 2 night break via laterooms.com; partly to see the illuminations & also to spend some time together & relax. The review of the hotel stated that it was ideal for Romantic Breaks & 5 Course Candlelit Dinners could be booked. Although we could not manage the 5 courses; the home cooked food & ambience of the Oriental themed dinning room were worthy of any 5star hotel in the uk at treble the price! The friendly service was second to none. In house wine & bar drinks were very reasonably priced & the lounge, dinning room & bar area are very clean & tastefully furnished. Lovely quite location in the north shore area, only 3 minutes walk to the tram stop & 5 minute ride to the Tower. We were in & out several times per day in our car & had no problems at all parking on return as there is ample on street parking facilities. There is a lot to be said for a small hotel of this size (22 rooms) as you receive the personal touch, homely attmosphere and are made to feel special. Nothing was too much trouble & we shall definately return. Vanessa & Graham Crookes - Market Drayton, Shropshire."

"Having not visited Blackpool for 5 years because of bad hotel experiences we decided to give it another try. We booked through laterooms after reading the reviews posted on there. We arrived on Friday afternoon to be greeted by Simon and Rhona who are an absolutly smashing couple and shown to our room. The en-suite room was very tastfully decorated and very clean which also actualy had a telly which worked with a good picture and DVD player too. The chef Paul is a really nice sociable guy whos cooking is brill, nothing too much trouble for him, even when asked to cook Tracy's mushrooms in the oven(remember her Paul). If you decide to stay here try one of their curries made with home grown chillies to your taste. During our stay we tried most things on the menu and found everything spot on and most nights struggled to make it to the bar we were so full up.We found out that Simon and Rhona were in their first season as hoteliers and with sevice like this im sure they will be very successful in their venture. We recommend this hotel very highly for its first class hospitality, food, service and comfort so come on give it a go. All the best Steve & Tracy Fox (See you again for sure)"

"I can throughly recommend this friendly and effecient hotel. Simon and Rhoda could not do enough for us and were always helpful and willing to put themselves out for us. Excellent value with a full english breakfast included which we needed time to digest before discovering the many attractions of Blackpool. Situated 5 mins from the start of the illuminations with a tram stop to take you right down to the pleasure beach. We found the hotel very clean and well run. An ideal choice for a holiday or a weekend break. We will certainly go back."
