Absolutely disgusting, worst experience of my life with 2 small children
"Absolutely vile. Never again. The caravan was pet friendly. Well the saying i wouldn't put a dog in it, we had to and 2 children under 5. Was absolutely filthy. Stains all over the sofa and dinning table chairs absolutely stunk of urine, dirty windows, floors black, not even been mopped, radiators were all stained, curtains were all scrunched up, not been pressed. Everything about the caravan was awful. We complained and couldn't accommodate us anywhere else, so we had no option but to leave and go home. The staff were not bothered, give a refund with no genuine apology. Ruined our weekend away with the kids. Non of us had eaten in the morning due to the filth and no where to sit without sitting or smelling dog urine. Wouldn't recommend at all. The whole place is too busy and no one to help. We had not even even 12 hours here before we couldn't relax or sit anywhere that was disgusting. Paid alot for very little. Luckily we managed to book somewhere else 40 mins away for the children to enjoy the rest of their holiday. NEVER AGAIN! can't even give this place a 1. Absolutely mortified"

"First impressions were great as the caravan we were in was lovely. Platinum Grade and lived up to our expectations. Was in a gated area which you need a key fob to enter only the gate was never closed so key fob not needed. We were supposed to have towels in the caravan so never packed any and after travelling from Edinburgh in the hot car we wanted to have a shower before we went out. we went to reception and linen store and was told they'd be sent right up but it was late afternoon of the next day when they appeared.
The entertainment was terrible and the hall it was in was very very smelly and seemed to be the topic of conversation around the site. I believe they had a flood at some point and the flooring was still drying out. I think they should have closed the place down until it was all fixed rather than putting wet floor signs everywhere and all the guests having to suffer the smell of damp carpet. The smell was really terrible.
The only thing for free in this place is the pool (if you can get in).
Do not go to the shop on site go to the nearby Tesco.
Make the most of Blackpool, it gets you away.
I left something behind in our caravan, so contacted them the next day 12th and am still waiting on a response. I guess they've had our money now so not interested."

Okay for a weekend away.
"We stayed in a platinum caravan (mum, nanna, two kids 5months and 22 months), very well located on the park, caravan was not very clean, tv didn't work, dirty bin on arrival and the fridge smelt, no outside patio furniture. Good points, the caravan was equipped with every thing you required, beds okay, good sized caravan. The park was not very big, lots of queuing. entertainment average, not many places to eat, 2 for 1 standard food, very expensive to eat on site. The good weather helped massively."

"We arrived at Haven Marton Mere and checked in at 2.30pm without any hitch, that was the only good thing about the entire week. We had booked a Prestige caravan so were exremeley shocked on entering to find a filthy carpet complete with numerous cigarette burns. The caravan smelt of stale smoke, which we appreciate Haven may find difficult to monitor but this should have been checked and put out of service until the smell had gone. However that was not the worst of it, we had brought several items to put in the fridge which when we opened could only be described as a stench of fish emitting from it. The freezer part was mid defrost with bits of frozen fish amidst the ice. The ktichen sink was stainless steel with a thick coating of brown, and the same for the washing up bowl. There were also for some unexplicable reason hairs in the microwave. There was very inferior decor and linen. My partners daughter found a dirty spoon down the side of the sofa. I could just go on and on. I visited the customer service manager on site to complain and she gave me a form to complete and hand back in. On our return home we were offered a complimentary upgrade on a future short break. I have declined the offer as we would not want to return and once again pay hundreds of pounds for what we should have had in the first place.. The facilites are very limited and may suit families with very young children. We went to see the on site caravans that were for sale and were shown a couple of basic ones that were much older than ours was supposed to be and they were ten times better. The caravan we booked was Prestige and there is only one higher. I can only sympathise with anyone booking a lower grade one. I have written back to the customer services manager to urge her to examine this particular caravan to see if it was indeed a Prestige. If so I think we were very much decieved by the photographs on the Haven web site and their descriptions."

"This was our first visit here and our first caravan holiday.
After reading the reviews I was a little apprehensive to say the least!
On arrival we were checked in quite quickly and made our way to the caravan.............it was clean spacious and we loved it! we also took our dog which was no problem.
The site itself was very good, the entertainment was good and all the staff were friendly and pleasant.
I could not fault it at all.......can't wait to go back!!"

Will not return to Marton Mere.
"This was our first trip to Blackpool and Marton Mere Caravan Park. When we arrived, we had to check-in at the showbar which was packed with families waiting to check-in. We'd booked a Prestige caravan so got checked-in very quickly. If you don't book a caravan of Prestige standard or higher, then be prepared for a very lengthy check-in process.
On finding our caravan, we found no beds made up and no linen provided. I returned to reception to let them know, and the lady asked me if I'd upgraded to prestige at a later date, I told her it had been booked from the start and I luckily had my booking conformation with me, stating 'Linen included. beds made up for arrival' in black and white. She told me she'd get someone round to sort this out. We waited 2 hours with all our luggage in the living area, couldn't put anything in bedrooms as there would be no room for the beds to be made. I finally called guest services to find out when someone was coming, eventually 2 1/2hrs later someone appeared.
This minor hitch wasn't the best start to our break. If it wasn't for the Flatscreen LCD Freeview/ DVD TV, then this caravan certainly was not prestige standard. There was also food items left by previous guests in the cupboards, the surfaces were thick with dust (which I had to wipe down), furnishings were dirty, oven took ages to cook food.
Not much to do on the park, except arcades and Swimming (if there is a slot there is not an activity on at). Showbar entertainment wasn't up to much, and drinks were abit more expensive than I expected. Overall, we tried to make the best of our holiday, but will definately not return to this park."

"This was our first stay at a caravan park and after reading previous reviews, quite frankly we were dreading it. However we checked in fine with no delays and the caravan was in a peaceful location close to the Mere. The caravan was warm, clean and well equipped. While the entertainment building might not suit all, it was what we expected at a caravan park near Blackpool. The pool was fine and our daughter liked the evening entertainment in the Showbar. All in all, we really enjoyed our weekend trip."

Cheap and cheerful(ish)
"We booked 2 nights at Marton Mere through Sun vouchers, so we weren't expecting much... and that's pretty much what we got. On arrival, the booking office was shut so we had to check in at the "show bar", which was accessed through the arcade... the smell of cheap hot-dogs and the incesant sound of the slot machines and screaming kids did not make for the best of welcomes.
The park is absolutely huge, with row upon row of caravans. We had booked 2 caravans but, when we got the keys, we found we had been allocated vans which were miles apart from one another. I asked if it was possible to get 2 closer together but the assistant could not have been less helpful.
When i finally found our van, it was in between 2 staff vans but, once inside, the caravan itself was large, spacious and spotlessly clean. It consisted of a double room and 2 twins, a large lounge/diner with seating for at least 9 people. The bathroom and toilet were separate, which was good for a group of 6 adults. The shower was excelllent - powerful and a decent sized cubicle.
Entertainment on site is based in the "show bar", which had a large bar at the back, booths round the edge and rows of tables on tiers towards the stage and dancefloor. The free entertainment consisted of a very dodgy magician and a reasonable band, playing a mix of old and new music. Prices in the bar were reasonable, considering we were a 'captive' audience. However, the cafe bar stopped serving food at 9pm, after which the only hot food available was the chippy (v.expensive) or hot-dogs (v.cheap and not great).
Due to a previous poster's review about children pooing in the pool, we decided not to have a swim.
Getting to Blackpool on the bus was easy and cost £1.90 each way. However, a taxi is fixed fare of £9.50 so, if there are 4 of you, it's just as cheap to get a taxi.
Overall, it's what you'd expect for 2 nights for £20 in a Blackpool caravan park. Not the sort of place you'd go for a romantic weekend but, for the price, it was OK for a girls' weekend."

Not Alot To Do For Young Children
"We were allocated this holiday park via sun holidays our first impression of the park was good as we drove to the reception area We had paid to upgrade our caravan to a super luxury one When i picked the keys up the guy asked me if i had brought my own bed linen - i had paid for the bed linen and the beds to be made up this was included in the upgrade he said it wasnt on his system so i had'nt paid i had it in black and white so he was forced to sort it out WHAT A GOOD START TO THE HOLIDAY If the caravan they had given us was super luxury one then i would hate to of seen the standard/budget ones There was all black mould on the nets at the windows The glass on the door to the caravan was covered in mould and the shower had to be cleaned before we could use it as it was covered in mould The rides outside the funworks charge you £1.50 per child to use them they take the ticket off you so once your child comes off the ride they cannot go back on as you have to pay again when it rains the rides outside are out of order and there is not rides inside to keep the kids happy unless they like slot machines Evening entertainment is ok The park is about 10 mins drive from the centre overall i would not go to this park again and would not recommended it to anyone that has young children"

Not an experience I would want to repeat!!
"We stayed at Marton Mere Holiday centre a couple of weeks ago. We were very disappointed with the caravan which was tired and dirty (especially the furniture in the lounge area). The fridge door didn't shut properly as the fridge was in desperate need of being defrosted. It took Haven 3 days to replace the fridge after we complained.
The park is small and in need of an upgrade. Facilities are lacking, especially for people with disabilities. The evening entertainment is good for children, but you need to get your seat VERY early, as you will be left standing!!
It is certainly not somewhere I would return to. It is okay for children, but the playground is small and you have to pay £1.50 per ride, on top of what you have already paid.
If you want great facilties and lots of things to do, then this isn't the park for you. It is about 4 miles away from the centre of Blackpool. The only good thing I can say about the site is that there is a good bus service into Blackpool."

Cheap Break - Great Time - Fantastic
"We applied for the Sun's £9.50 holiday promotion and were allocated this Haven Caravan Park just outside Blackpool.
My partner was very worried about staying in a caravan park, however Marton Mere could not have been nicer.
Our caravan was located right near the swimming pools (outdoors and inside) the play area, restaurant and ammusement arcade. we had thought considering we had booked the break cheaply through the sun we would be stuck on the outskirts of the park and have to trek miles to the entertainment but this was not the case at all. (our caravan was Windsor - No 10)
3 of us stayed here. Me, my boyfriend and his 7 years old daughter. our caravan slept 8 and had 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. it was very clean and spacious and had a tv that actually worked.
the facilities were great for children with plenty to do. and with Blackpool nearby it was a perfect place to stay for a weekend. (especially as we were lucky with the weather - staying on hottest weekend so far this year. 25 degrees)
only slight downers were that there was no toilet roll when we arrived so had to make an emergency dash to the shops. also a child pooed in the swimming pool on our first day there and everyone was made to get out whilst pool drained. after that we were somewhat put off swimming. but this was not Haven's fault.
the food inthe restaurant was also not great. edible but not great and it took ages to be served. also the carpet in our van was quite stained, however it was not dirty, just permanatly marked.
also the road into blackpool was being dug up which led to what should have been a 15 minute drive taking often over an hour, again though not Havens fault.
also be aware that the walls of the caravan are very thin and everone, inside or outside the van, can hear all that is said or done."
