Comfortable, Clean and Good Value
"I had booked this hotel simply as a cheap place to stay overnight when in Blackpool for a concert - only £28 for the two of us! It was definitely aimed at the more mature age group when we stayed, with evening entertainment and excursions available. Lots of information provided in room and a process for parking which involved arranging with anyone you block in for them to get out. Stayed in room 129. Had a double bed and two singles to ourselves. Decor and furniture generally so, so but everything was clean and functional. Absolutely giant remote control - assume this is to help for mature people's eyesight and dexterity. Shower was fine. Tea & coffee making facilities (although if you use the sachets and milk up you are supposed to have to pay for more, but the late night barman gave more to us). Didn't stay for breakfast. Mealtimes appeared a bit 'butlins' with set 'sittings' but again can't comment on food because didn't eat any. Would stay again."

"This is our 4th visit to the Lyndine in the last year and we have always had an enjoyable time. The rooms were average size and were cleaned daily, clean towels were left and linen mid week. Food and service in the restraunt is always good. Being in our 40's with two teenage children the entertainment on an evening could be a little bit more up to date but overall is enjoyable. There is a nice friendly atmosphere and is well worth a visit !"

In Janurary i thought we could give it another try and stayed at the lyndene 2 fridays on the trot. the reception, rooms, food, and entertainment was great. we will be going soon as its great to use as a getaway break.. spoke to some friends who are going next weekend and some more who are wanting to go at the same time as us.

would not return
"We had checked this hotel before we arrived and did not have any great hopes for it but it seemed ok and was very cheap. We were going mainly for the entertainment which was very good.
The hotel is let down by the state of the interior and the food which was dire. We went up to the third floor in an ancient lift which was dirty. We had a sea view room which was very small, the window handles had been broken and not repaired. Although the bathroom had been newly refurbished it was also extremely small. The room door had been forcibly broken in sometime and was repaired with a few screws into the door casing, not a very inviting beginning. Most room doors were in a poor state of repair.
The food was made with very cheap ingredients although many people seemed to enjoy it! We managed part of one breakfast and part of one evening meal, after that we ate out.
One entertainment room has been newly refurbished and was lovely, the other is very dated and worn.
If you dont mind poor quality food and very small rooms and can put up with some of the interior then you get a very cheap weekend with great entertainment."

"We stayed at the Lyndene Hotel in Blackpool in November 2007. The room we were allocated was exeptionally small, there was no room to move around. The furniture was very shabby and did not match at all. We only got clean towels on arrival, the maids came in daily but did not leave clean towels daily.
The entertainment was geared up for elderly people. We are in our 50's but felt like we were in a pensioners club!! Very disappointing indeed.
The food was average, the waiters were very pleasant."

La Ponderosa falls well short of hoped for expectation
"Reserved 6 double rooms at the Lyndene Hotel for a 40th birthday weekend in Blackpool. Wanted to stay in the hotel used by Peter Kay as the "La Ponderosa" in the TV series "Pheonix Nights"
Due to unforseen circumstance had to alter reservation to only 5 double rooms, but did so a full week before our stay, in order to allow hotel time to relet the 6th room.
Upon arrival was informed that I would not be refunded the initial deposit on the 6th room as this was standard hotel policy and its non refundable.
Reception would not budge and simply informed me that I would need to speak to a manager in the morning.
When discussed with manager he stated hotel policy and very matter of factly refused to refund deposit paid on room.
The door to my hotel room opened directly out onto the main dining room and I had to repeatedly ask diners to move in order to get in/out of my room.
No hot water in room for the whole weekend.
Room had an ashtray and stank of stale smoke.
Breakfast was served betwen 8.30 & 9.30 (without exception!) and had no options other than a pre-prepared fried breakfast."

the twilight zone
"never again, I thought I was coming to a family hotel but its more like an old peoples home, Ive never seen so much wheelchairs and walking frames and sticks in my life. Not family friendly at all we had three little boys with us and we were told that they were nt allowed on the dance floor when they got up to have a dance. On the last night of our stay the entertainment was dire probably ok if your age is about 75 , I love 60s and 70s music but the artist was singing songs of people that had been dead since before I was born and im 30 and I do appreciate old music but not that old that Id never heard the songs or the artists, and who the hell was the artist in the tight leather pants that thought he was gods gift (UURGH).So never again the hotel should be advertised as a pensioners paradise not family I should have realised straight away when there was no other kids there probably families have visited and never returned. I have come to Blackpool twice a year for the last 10 years And have stayed in little B&Bs for quarter of the price and found them cleaner and more welcoming to my children, also there was a group of 12 of us as it was my fathers birthday and the staff couldnt even open us a bottle of champayne without charging us. so never again for us at the last chance saloon, P.S rooms stank of cigarettes"
