"If you want to be kept awake all night with drunk people coming back to their rooms and having fights, swearing shouting etc then this is the hotel for you. You will also have to pay to use the car park. I have read on other websites that your car could be at risk as well. If you are unfortunate to have a room on the road side asked to be moved as the sound of cars passing is quite annoying. Truly dreadful place !"

Great location for travelling in Southam...
"Great location for travelling in Southampton and getting on the M3/M27. Not quite in the central Southampton but not far from the pubs/clubs in the London Road area. Nothing special rooms wise, but functional and fairly quiet during my stay. Would recommend for anyone working in the area or locally."

Not that bad
"I stayed at Travelodge Southampton the night before my Wedding, as I was getting married at a Church a few hundred yards away. Having read all of the reviews about this hotel I was really fearing the worst. I must say though that my experience was not at all bad. My room was clean and of a decent size. The bed was comfortable and everything in the bathroom was in working order. My stay here was exactly what I expected. Not 5-Star Service or an amazing room, but when staying at hotels of this budget you shouldn't really expect anything more. I am obviously in the minority but I really don't think this hotel is that bad."

"Electrical fault and acrid burning in bathroom (no joke) and nobody gave a monkey's. It was a truly awful place. Better to sleep in park and take chances. Staff were terrible, parking terrible"

Could do better
"Travelodge cheap deal, you will need to take tools with you and be a good handy person. It is in need of TLC and some serious maintenance. Beginning to look grubby"

Boat show guests- stay Clear!
"Got the web site of the boat show site. They said they have special rates...room was 99stg what an absolute rip off, very dissapointed, car park full, dingy reception, lift a joke, room very standard and dated, could'nt watch t.v. bad reception, noisey, spoke to staff in the morning and was told the room is normally 59.00 but because of the boat show the prices go up as they are guaranteed to fill them, way overpriced and would not recomend it, another lodge 5 mins up the road Imperial Lodge double room for 47.50-weekends, just a pity we did'nt know this until it was too late. Very dissapointed customer and will not be returning."

Quick stop over and thats it!
"We arrived at the hotel to find spaces in the car park for about 10 cars, which were all taken. We were then told to go to the otherside of the hotel where there were more spaces-again these were taken. We ended up parking in a bay in front of a shop near the hotel. Thefore if you want a parking space-get there early!! The room was very nice, bed was very comfortable, hardly any noise. Breakfast is available for £4 per person and they bring a bowl of cereals, fruit and fruit juice up to your room at whatever time you request. The main problem I had was the shower-it was far to powerful even if you had the taps on weak power! The sign that said please make sure the shower curtain is in the bath didnt make any difference as the shower head squirted water everywhere (all over the top of the curtain and pouring down the wall at the end of the bath). In the end I filled the sink with water leant over the bath and washed my hair that way instead of making the bathroom a swimming pool!! Staff were fine but as for the shower in the bathroom and the parking-they both need some work!"

don't forget your earplugs
"If you are unlucky enough to be at the front of the hotel beware! There is a very busy road junction just outside complete with screeching braking , honking noises, shouting drunks till the early hours. As for the tv make sure the av plug is on otherwise the picture is horrendous. As for the lift, it belongs in a creaky old horror movie. The good news is that its only about a twenty minute walk to the centre. Make sure you are sedated before retiring to bed!"

"I'm sorry to report that, as a fairly frequent user of Travelodge, our visit to the Lodge Road, Southampton property did not come up to expectations. Our room was looking very tired and was not properly equiped in the usual way. I think an urgent "makeover" is needed here."

Great place to stay
"Great place to stay. 15-20 minute walk to pubs like Hogshead & Yates. Bus stop right outside. Taxi costs £4-5 to the centre. We stayed here for £10 per room per night which was a bargain. Close to the centre without all of the noise from the drunks. Rooms were basic, but clean and nice. If you do anything more than sleep and shower in your room then you're obviosuly not making the most of your weekend away. Proper."

Always something missing...
"I visit Southampton alot and have stayed here numerous times, as well as the Premier Travel Inn (Southampton Central). Like most Travelodges, it does the job. In fact the beds are big and very confortable and the rooms are spacious (probably more so than the Travel Inn) But the main issue is that there is always seems to be something missing in the room everytime I go....coffee, remote control for a TV and what was most annoying was a recent lack of hot water in the morning. The TV's also only pick-up BBC1, BBC2, ITV and CH4. Not even Five! Although they seem to be being updated. If you have £40-50 to spend you are better off picking an upmarket B&B (such as the excellent Hunter's Lodge) or even the Travel Inn, but if you are on a deal you could do worse. The staff are helpful, but overworked!"
