Lovely hotel - will come back again!!!
"Have stayed in this hotel for the weekend and really liked it. The staff very friendly and welcoming. The room ( we had the superior room) absolutely massive. Their gym and swimming pool is lovely as well. Rooms are very tidy. This is our second visit to the village group hotels. Previously we have stayed in Ashton Moss Village hotel which is probably 5 miles away from this one. If you are looking for the modern style then this hotel is not for you. You'd rather check the ashton moss. This is a cottage style building , with its own character and features. The only downside of this hotel is the waiting time in the restaurant. Having two kids it is impossible to keep them entertained in one place more then half an our , we had dinner for both evenings ( as hotel is located not in the best part of the world - there is nothing better around)in the restaurant and it took more then an hour for the food to arrive. Should admit that the food was lovely - but after such a long waiting time the one thing on your mind is to get out from there as quickly as you can. Location wise this hotel as i have mentioned before is not in the best part of the world - but presumably when you book it you know where you going or if you dont - at least you have your own car - so it is not the problem. But if you dont then i will not advise to go ahead with this booking. Overall i personally loved here and will come again"

Style over substance
"We stayed at the Village in Hyde to attend a wedding in nearby Dukinfield. From first appearances, it looked very smart and had been newly refurbished in stylish creams, beiges and browns.
We had to wait a little bit at reception to check in and check out again, and the receptionists did not seem all that professional. However, they were very helpful with booking us a taxi to get to the wedding venue.
The room itself was pleasant, and the shower in particular was good. However, we were on the second floor and we could hear a function going on in the bar on the ground floor until well past 1 a.m. at which point we conked out. Had we not had a few ourselves, this would have been really quite intrusive.
The breakfast buffet was OK. There was a reasonable selection of hot and cold stuff, but the sausages were really anemic and cheap, bacon very fatty and scrambled eggs tasteless. We also had to wait about 15 mins for a table although the Starbucks coffee they served was delicious.
We did not use any of the facilities and unless I had to be in that specific bit of Manchester again, I would not rush back, although it was a bargain."

All under one roof - leisure club with huge pool, pub, restaurant . . .
"Stayed here a few times and I've not been dissappointed yet. Always made to feel welcome, food can be a bit slow in the restaurant at peak times but good quality. New menu is very Italian. Pub food good too. Rooms had 42 inch tvs this visit and some of the hotel appears to be refurbished (lesiure and pub). There's a new Village Hotel just a few miles away in Ashton Moss, very contemporary and stylish but we prepare the service and feel of Hyde, more relaxed and very friendly, the staff make a fuss of the children."

ups n downs
"Booked on Village hotels website and paid £240 - arrived with my family for 2 nights double n twin room with breakfast. attending match at Man u - first my negative thoughts - reception staff just about civil but not that welcoming - when we were allocated our rooms they were on different floors which was a minor annoyance but worse was to come. our room was reeking with smoke despite a no smoking sign on the door. I then asked reception to allocate me another double room which they said was not possible as all were booked. We were given a twin room instead. the next day they sorted us out with a double room but offered no apology or compensation for our hassle. The rooms were more of a 3 star nature but adequate.Returning from the match about 830pm we decided to go to the bar for a meal which was being served until 930pm but a dj was playing music so loudly that we could not even talk to each other so we went to the nearby Bangla Indian restaurant which was excellent. we ate in the bar the next night and the food was pricey n average, Steak n Frozen chips was about 11 quid.
Having said all that, the Hotel breakfast was excellent and the leisure facilities superb, the bar was lively and had a nice atmosphere and the location was fine for the motorway network"

"I stayed at this hotel while attending an event in nearby Dukinfield.
I stayed in a twin room with a friend. The room was clean and spacious. It had tea & coffee making facilities, although not the iPod doc that was advertised on the website! The bathroom had a bath, and shower which was powerful and relaxing.
The check-in staff were helpful and polite.
The hotel has leisure facilites (pool, gym, etc) which are free to hotel residents, but is also open to the public (there was a swimming lesson going on while we were using the pool).
We arrived back after midnight, and the residents' bar was still open and happy to serve us into the small hours.
Overall, I had a great experience and I look forward to returning in 2008."

"Arrived on a Friday evening before Christmas with a number of drunken partygoers outside and in the lobby area making it a little intimidating for a family with young children. Check-in was efficient but unfriendly, I don't think she was enjoying her job! But after this shaky start things improved, the restaurant staff were very helpful and understanding of our needs and those of the kids despite the busy Christmas party. Carvery food, though not gourmet, was simple, and quick and just what we needed.
Family room was very spacious with the kids beds made up for us and an empty fridge, always useful when traveling with kids.
Swimming pool is excellent, probably the best you would find at this price point with shallow bubble pools the kids can use and an adult only spa area that we didn't use.
Buffet breakfast was good. We would stay again based on the room and pool."

V Good but not at weekends
"If I'd stayed here outside of the weekend I would have marked this as excellent. However on a Friday night this hotels attracts all that is bad about British Youth. Loud parties where noise invades the bedrooms. Aircom carrying the masses of smoke coming from the dancehall and drunks in reception. Very Good except Friday and Saturday!"

good all round hotel
"Vastly improved since the refurbishment and change of staff. Excellent health facilities but very very busy with non residents. This is also reflected in the car parking - I always have to park in the overflow car park.
Good food. Excellent rooms since refurb.
Lacks character like all 'village' hotels
Location not great , but generally a good all round hotel."
