"We spent our Xmas at the kingscliff. Clean modern rooms with hairdryer and iron. Affordable. The chef provides a range of luxury meals and lunches cooked to perfection. We had entertainment on Xmas eve. Cheerful and jolly. The staff were pleasent and helpful. The location was brilliant across from the beach. Thank you kingscliff"

Two day stay with extended family
"This is the my third time to stay in the Kingscliff Hotel , this time was to attend a funeral in Clacton with 14 members of my family.
All the rooms are very clean with very nice bathrooms, the staff were lovely very polite and helpful , I have stayed in many hotels around the world and do struggle to find a half decent hotel in the UK sadly , I was very pleased to have found this hotel for when I went to visit my parents in Clacton.
We all had a very comfortable stay , thank you to all the staff at the Kingscliff, a great hotel .
Thank you , Linda Pearson "

"The new rooms are excellent, really going up market now, new windows which cut out the noise, shower room are really modern. Only issue we had there was no food or bar snack, we had our lunch at 1.30pm and by 7pm need some thing to eat. Never been to a hotel were the bar sent out for burger and kebabs ..."

âOnly stay here if you have incredibly low expectations and money to burn!â
"We stayed at The Kingscliff Hotel for a friends wedding that took place in Clacton and the service was terrible from before we even arrived. The hotel was recommended by the happy couple as they were also staying there that night, in their âhoneymoon suiteâ.
The Best Man received a call from the hotel the day before the wedding to confirm the group booking of 3 double rooms and not the 8 that were originally reserved a month previous â it was apparently too difficult to reserve a number of rooms under 1 group name and not give out our rooms to other guestsâ¦! After a meeting with the manager that same day, they managed to accommodate the majority of us but others had to find another hotel at short notice.
To accommodate 3 members of our party that had previously booked a family room, instead had to share a single room, which consisted of 2 camp beds and a health & safety risk! On check-out, the Manager âconvenientlyâ managed to find their original booking and then insisted that they should cover the cost of the family room (as well as their single room) even though it was sitting vacant all night!!!
The breakfast, which was included in the cost of the room (£85), at £10 per head, consisted of cold tea/coffee and the smallest portions of food you could imagine. According to their menu, if you werenât a guest at the hotel, it wouldâve only cost you £7.50 â no wonder they make you pay on arrival!
When the bride & groom viewed the hotel months before, they were shown the glorious honeymoon suite that was decorated with red rose petals, champagne on ice and other nice touches, as you would expect. However, when they returned on their wedding night, they were greeted by mould and peeling wallpaper â no champagne, no rose petals, NOTHING! There was nothing about the room that was romantic, if anything our standard double room was probably cleaner!
Other than the above, the staff were miserable, unhelpful and completely incompetent at carrying out the simplest tasks, such as booking rooms!
Itâs a lovely hotel on appearance but the added stress for the bride & groom was completely unnecessary â no good will gestures or compensation was offered for the inconvenience of all the combined issues and has led to me leaving this review and warning others not to stay here!"
