Pack your earplugs!
"Good sea-front location and friendly staff, but be warned, this place is party central! Great if that's what you're looking for, but if like us, turning in at midnight and not 5 a.m is more your thing, the crowds yacking away on the terrace and the boom boom boom form the music in the bar will keep you awake for hours and hours! The fixtures in our bathroom were even rattling along with the bass! Insist on a room at the back of the building if you want to try to avoid the din, though then you won't get the sort of glorious sea and pier views which you get at the front."

Great value and friendly helpful staff
"Gay AND straight friendly hotel when we stayed here in Feb 2009. We had a double room with breakfast, booked the night before our Friday night stay. Although the room was very basic and on the small side, we had almost everything we needed. We paid a rate that on reflection provided great value at £59.00 through Laterooms.com. A bonus was the fantastic sea view that we had from our 3rd floor room. Reception is not clearly marked, but the staff in the bar showed us the way (you'll need to ask the bar staff for access). Gay venue, but not at all intimidating for straight travellers (we are a straight couple). No toiletries in the shower room, and that would have been annoying had we paid full rate. The noise from the bar and nightclub is definitely present and late, but would only disturb the lightest of sleepers on our 3rd floor. I would imagine it would be more of a problem on 1st and 2nd floors though. Lift was working on check-in, but not when we returned from our night out, which was a minor irritation. Breakfast was great and this alone probably accounted for £15-20 of our payment, so all in all, well worth the price, especially considering standards and location."

"My girlfriend and I always get a weekend away in Brighton in the Summer, to just get away from it all and be ourselves! The staff at this hotel were so so helpful, and pleasant, amking sure we got another taxi (previous one got lost it seems) as soon as they could, so we could get to the station and catch our last train home. The rooms were cumfy and very clean, and the view out across the pier magnificent. But a word of warning... if you want it quiet, then make sure you book a room at the back, because the place is buzzing till about 4 or 5am. Right under the sea view rooms is a bar which goes on most of the night. No problem for my girlfriend and I, as we were out clubbing till 3am, and were too tired to stay awake for long. :-) We visited their underground club, which had a good mix of music, and it's great if the weather is rough outside, as you don't have far to go to get to your room! In the mornings we sampled their fabulous cooked breakfast, which was delicious, and thrown in with the price of the room. Very good value, great place. Will be back next year."

Best Gay Hotel in Brighton
"Have visited Brighton many times but this was my 1st stay at Legends. Booked a basic single room which was very small with tiny shower room but clean & comfortable. Location was great for the Brighton gay scene and the Legends bar is fun with free entry for residents to the large basement nightclub. Remember though, that as well as having a bar/club, the hotel is on Brighton seafront , so it is not the quietest place to stay. Staff were very friendly & helpful and the (enormous!) breakfast was very good. In my opinion this is the best gay hotel in Brighton"

A great hotel . . .
"Stayed at Legends for the first time on Sunday. I had often heard about this hotel from friends who had been to Brighton and decided I would try it. I was not disappointed. It has a perfect location right on the seafront and there is a Multi-Story car park just behind it. My standard single room was modern, clean and very comfortable and, although it looked out on to a side street, it had a bay window which, if you stood in it, gave you a great view of the sea. A cleverly placed mirror in the shower room also had the same effect. The check-in was probably the most efficient Iâve ever come across in a hotel and there was the added bonus of Topping & Butch appearing in cabaret in the ground floor bar during the afternoon. They were terrific fun and very much enjoyed by the packed audience. I thought that Brighton was a really interesting and enjoyable town to be in. The little lanes and copious bars and restaurants with chairs and tables outside, gave it a really exciting continental atmosphere and Legends Hotel itself has a lovely terrace overlooking the sea to relax in the sun with a glass of wine (or several . . .) After visiting several of the famous gay bars in the town, my friends and I ended up in the Legends Night Club for our late night drinks and, had we had the stamina, we could have been there till 4am! After a very good nightâs sleep, we had an excellent English breakfast of which nobody could complain that it was not enough! I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone (providing they are happy to stay in a very gay environment). The place was very well appointed and presented and the staff were all very efficient and friendly. We will certainly be staying there again on our next visit to Brighton."

Honeymoon in July. We had a Junior Suite...
"Honeymoon in July. We had a Junior Suite and it was fabulous. The whole hotel was wonderful with plenty to do and so many activities included in the all inclusive option. All the staff were very attentive without being over-powering. We used the tennins courts, gym, bicycles, spa, dvd hire, room service, min bar and all restaurants. We found the whole holiday amazing and even had trips included in our all inclusive. I would not recommend staying half board as, although we didn't have to pay, lunches consisting of sandwich, chips and soft drink worked out to approx £25 per person. Drinks would also be very expensive if you had to pay for them. There was nothing that we had to pay for and we made full use of everything. We would also recommend going on the undersea walk which cost about 19 euros each plus taxi there. It was amazing to see the fish up close. The currency used mainlyis the Euro. This really was the holiday of a lifetime and nothing disappointed."

Lovely Sea Side Views, Good Value
"Two of us stayed at Legends Hotel in April for three nights. This hotel was great. We found it clean, bright, and had a magnificent view of the sea and pier. Everything was in walking distance and I would recommend it. The breakfasts were excellent value and very large portions. I would most certainly stay here in the future and would not hesitate to recommend it to friends and family."

It was without doubt the worst night we ...
"It was without doubt the worst night we have ever had in a hotel. There is a club (part of the hotel) below the guest rooms that goes on until 5:30am so don't expect to get a moments sleep until then. The "double" room has a three quarter(!!) size bed with springs that jut into your back and the bathroom is the smallest we've have ever seen. There is nobody at reception after 8pm so there is no avenue to vent your complaints, requests or even concerns [What if there was a fire?!] during the night. A random person managed to open our door at about 2am - that is totally unacceptable! Hotel manager refused to give back any of the money we had paid, even after all the above. :( STAY AWAY."

Nice hotel, lovely location
"For our long weekend in Brighton we wanted a nice hotel on the seafront which wasn't too expensive but still a bit of a treat. Legends fitted the bill perfectly. Our room was quiet and well presented with a fantastic view of the sea and people walking up and down the promenade. Although it's a new hotel it had a nice romantic feel to it. In the corridors there are lit pictures of Hollywood movie stars from the 50's which is a nice touch. On the ground floor is the main bar which is really pretty. During the day the bar isn't too busy which was really nice for us, and the outside terrace is lovely to sit and have a drink and a bite to eat. The hotel is really well located for everything in Brighton. There is a nearby high street with lots of arty shops, and about 10 minutes away on foot are the Laines and the main shopping areas. And Brighton is just full of bars and carfes and restaurants, you can't go wrong really. The hotel also has its own nightclub which is really quite cool given that it's not a huge hotel. It's in the basement. We were expecting something really small with very low ceilings etc, but actually it's huge! There's loads of posh seating and a nice dancefloor, and pretty neon lights everywhere. It's big enough such that away from the dancefloor you can sit and have a conversation. The staff at Legends are friendly and efficient - it's not 5 star but for the money we're paying it's fine. We'll definitely come back."

Stayed on a Monday night!
"Hotel has been refurbished in the last year! All staff were excellent, room was ok, quite small but adequate for a business overnight stay. Busy bar area, especially as Dave Lynn was performing that evening. Went downhill a bit when the fire alarm went off twice during the night, both false alarms thankfully!, and the disco went on til 4ish, which you could hear unfortunately. To sum up - probably good to stay for a weekend, when partying is on the agenda, but for a business night, maybe not the best place to stay!"

OK, but could be a lot better
"Just stayed for 3 nights in a luxury room, room large but very bland, it needed an armchair & more art work. Web site said there were room safes, not in the room we had. Shower room was far to small, only suitable for small or thin people. Our room was not even serviced the 1st day !!!!!!, had to ask for toilet rolls at the bar when we returned that evening. Breakfast was very good, but served in the bar with flashing lights and large screen TV's played through a sound system that was far to loud. A major problem is no Wi-Fi Internet access, in fact there is no internet at all !!!!!, when I asked at reception I was told to use an internet cafe, in this day & age !!!!!. Staff OK, not very friendly. We would not recomend this hotel or stay here again."
