A fantastic family-friendly camping site...
"A fantastic family-friendly camping site for caravans and tents. Facilities are super - clean showers and toilets, family shower rooms, a bathroom, laundry, shop selling food, toys and games and camping requisites, on-site pub serving evening meals.
We were concerned that some of the pitches are on a slope - when we stayed the first time we had a tent and were allocated a flat pitch, when we returned with the caravan this year we were on a slight incline but the staff at the site helped us to get the van positioned correctly, so we need not have worried.
The views from the site are superb, particularly from the top end of the field - Chesil Beach at dawn is breathtaking. The site is very well-maintained and campers are treated like guests - other sites have had us moving pitch twice in a week, but none of that here.
There is a lovely little play park for children, and the atmosphere is one of family fun. The site doesn't seem to attract rowdy groups or teenagers on their first holiday without their parents!
The shop is small but the shelves are packed with just about everything you need, and no rip-off prices. The pub is a family pub with entertainment some evenings, the food is wonderful - huge helpings, quality ingredients and well presented. The restaurant has high-chairs and baby essentials as well.
The site is a couple of miles out of Weymouth, but there is a bus service if you prefer not to drive. All the major attractions are within a short journey, and there are beaches and some good walks within a few minutes on foot. Not recommended to head for the beach with a pram though - it's a tricky route!
