"My husband and I were introduced to the Derwent Hotel by his parents when they went to the ballroom and sequence dancing weekends and we were hooked. We have now been going for 28 years and have seen the hotel change so much with the introduction of the games rooms which is fantastic for young and old people. The aztec pool is lovely but the jacuzzi is now shabby and needs renewing but the other pool near it is great and usally nice and warm! The outside pool is being re done at the moment and will be great in the summer with the patio and barbecue area. We have been up to four times a year taking up to 50 family members and friends who are now going back with their children and grandchildren like us. The newly redecorated restaurant is lovely and you can always guarantee a friendly meeting on arrival from Jim and his staff. The reception staff are friendly and always try to help. There is always plenty to do so if the weather is bad it doesn't matter. Valule for money this is the best hotel in England. Entertainment is provided every night to suit all ages. What more could you want from a holiday. CVant waiot for our next visit. The Weatherhead family. Stratford-upon-Avon"

"Room adequate & clean but small. Shower very claustrophobic & useless if on the large side as no bath! Confusing layout. Excellent food in restaurant & very friendly efficient staff. Lovely pool & gym complex & plenty of entertainment in the evenings. Ideally situated for beach & town."

"We stayed at the Derwent as a last minute booking for the Young Farmers National AGM. The location was absolutely spot on for the Riviera Centre. The room was basic but adequate, however extremely hot which we were unable to regulate, the lifts were temperamental but the food was superb. The sink was seperate to the bathroom and in the bedroom itself which took a little getting used too. The light above the sink didnt work and there was no hairdryer available which is unusual. However in light of these niggles, it was actually a lovely weekend and I would recommend staying at the hotel to friends and family."

"All in all a great hotel and our stay will be one that is remembered for years to come. we were in a group of 22 family members (All age groups) and we had a great time. the service in the hotel was really good with the dining area being a mixture of waiter and buffet style, the food was excellent with plenty of choice, the complex was fantastic with loads to do there is a games room with bowling alleys snooker/pool tables, table tennis, video machines. the pool is great with all the facilities you would want 2 pools, jaccuzi, sauna, steam room, now on to the evening entertainment which was fine and no complaints. the only thing that i was not happy with were the beds they had seen better days and could do with replacing but i think the hotel is currently going through a refurbishment plan and you have to bear in mind that this is only rated a 2 star hotel. all the staff were extremely friendly and helpfull, we really enjoyed this hotel and are already planning our next trip"

"We have stayed at the Derwent before and always have an enjoyable time. The facilities are excellent - the swimming pool, steam room and games room (ten pin bowling and table tennis) are our favourites. The food was good too and the waiters and other staff very helpful and pleasant. All the bar areas were also relaxing and a lovely environment to sit in. I think in future I would ask for a room at the back or side of the hotel as our room overlooked Belgrave Road and was very noisy during the night and early morning (beer kegs being loaded onto a lorry very early in the morning and the road sweeper particularly)."

"We have been going to this hotel for over 6 years it just gets better and better, the food is very good. The breakfast is buffett so you can pick whatever you want, the evening meal you have a couple of choices if you do not like these there is a self service (there is something for everyone even for the children). The swimming pools are lovely nice and warm never too crowded. Staff are so friendly and very helpful if there is anything you need just ask they will always try to help you. This hotel is part of a complex so you can use facilities in all four adjoining hotels if you dont like the entertainment in one hotel you can always go to one of the others - always something going on. My children especially enjoy the clubs with the entertainment staff who are so friendly. Hope this gives you an insight into this hotel, I know we will definateley be going back again and again."

"Room was rather small compared with the last time we stayed but was very tastefully furnished. Food and service were good. Disabled parking was not very convenient - space was rather tight and we had to bump up and down the kerb - although it was good to have it so close to the hotel and there was a lift up into the hotel."

"Booked in for 3 days to Derwent in Torquay. The bedroom was reasonable and entertainment was good. There are several entertainment areas throughout the hotel, so pleanty of choice. The food was very nice too. The leisure, pool and gym facilities only look good from a distance. The gym I found was small lacking sufficient equipment, I mean only 1 exercise bench with a people having to wait to use it. The Jacuzzi was old with bits of broken fiberglass around it. No notices or rules to exclude people for antisocial behavior, One crowd in the pool, used the F word loudly and continually whilst a pool atendant just looked on. Their language was offensive and foul, it spoilt the enjoyment of faclities."
