"We have just returned from a 5 night break at this brilliant hotel. We could not find anything to fault. Lovely location, quiet, within walking distance of the lovely village of Cockington & Torquay town centre, Hotel had ample car parking space. Breakfasts were outstanding and were freshly cooked with high quality local produce including homemade jam & marmalade made by Les himself, he is a great cook. Marion and Les made sure nothing was too much trouble, all the guests shared the same feelings as us and everybody was impressed making for a great atmosphere. We will definitely be returning."

I would not hasitate to recommend this Hotel to anyone
"What a joy, I was greeted on arrival by Marion, and immediatley shown to my room. A lovely clean double room. It had en suit plenty of clean fresh towels and rven a bar of chocolate. The tea and coffee facilities were all prepared with plenty of everything required. Marion made me a pot of coffee which she served in the lounge. The lounge was very confortable with lovely views of the garden and beyond to the sea. As I was going to a Wedding I was given a key to get in, as I did not know what time I would arrive back. My goodness what a splendid breakfast the next morning. Every thing you could possibly want including a hot buffet, beautifully prepared eggs, bacon, suasages, black pudding , hash browns, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms. Again plenty of tea or coffee.
When my Daughter came to pick me up, Marion happily made us more coffee before we lefted. What a happy experiance. Would I stay again, Yes Please Terry Ford living in Spain"

Amazing Friendly stay
"We both have busy jobs so booked a last minute weekend away and were very lucky to get a room at this hotel which we found via Trip Advisor, due to a cancellation. Everything was fantastic, the couple who run it Les and Marion were really friendly and made a fuss of us from the moment we arrived. As we never visited Torquay before they gave us brilliant advice on where to go, what to see and where to eat (we stayed for 2 nights and both restaurants we went to were absolutely out of this world, I would recommend the hole in the wall and if they have the mussels on then make sure you try them!!) Room was lovely, clean, comfortable and bright. Breakfast was absolutely amazing - a self service basis from cereals, fresh bread, croissants, fruit to a good old fashioned full English which was all made with fresh local produce (and plenty of it!). Les and Marion were on first name terms with all the guests which we thought was really lovely. Itâs a really good location, a nice leisurely walk along the seafront takes you down to the harbour and into Torquay centre, plus the bus and train routes are both literally a couple of minutes walk. It was our first visit to Torquay and we would definitely go back and this would definitely be our No.1 choice of where to stay. It was just so much more personal than staying in a big commercial hotel, really relaxing and just what we both needed. So thank you Marion and Les for making a lovely weekend just that bit extra special x"

A little gem in Torquay
"My wife and I spent a relaxing weekend here and enjoyed every moment. OK, so there are bigger hotels in Torquay with more facilities but if you want a peaceful location with spotless accommodation and a truly friendly family welcome then the Charterhouse Hotel is the one for you. They have a small car park with a few meters walk up to the house and Marion and Les will welcome you most enthusiastically. Our superior room was light and clean and the hotel in general has a nice fresh and homely feel. They have a super garden and a small clean swimming pool. Breakfast is a treat and Marion will attend to your every need making it a very tasty experience indeed. It is a good walk into Torquay but the Number 12 bus goes frequently at the bottom of the lane. A walk to Cockington village is a must as is the Paignton to Dartmouth Steam Railway. Totally recommended for a super B&B break."

A warm welcome and a wonderfull stay
"The Charterhouse is in a quiet location with a flat walk to Torquay harbour. Marion and Les are friendly and attentive hosts and nothing is to much trouble. We stayed for four nights with our three year old daughter in a pair of rooms which were very clean and well appointed. This hotel is highly recommended and we would definitely stay there again."

Very friendly hotel in a great location.
"We stayed with our young baby and our dogs. We found Marion and Les extremely friendly and the room catered perfectly for our needs. The location was perfect for us with a dog friendly beach 5 minutes walk in one direction and a country park 3 minutes in the other. We are keen to go back in the near future. The breakfasts were great too.."

The Charterhouse Hotel is a hidden gem within Torquay.
"My husband and i have just returned from our stay at the Charterhouse Hotel. We could not have chosen a more perfect place to celebrate our 11th wedding annaversary. It was an ideal location and a short walk away from the beach/ town centre and other local attractions, but also far enough away to have the peace and quiet we were looking for. The rooms are immaculately clean, spaciuos and comfortable. The welcome was very warm and friendly, Marion and Les are great hosts. The Breafast was fantastic and i would defy anyone to find a better one anywhere within Torquay. I would totally recommend the Charterhouse hotel for familly and friends. We hope to go back and stay there again very soon with our son."
