Didn't Want to Leave!
"We have just returned from a long weekend in Torquay. We enjoyed Devon and had great weather, but the hotel was the cherry on the cake!
We chose the hotel after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor. We were not disappointed. Riviera Lodge deserves these high ratings.
The hotel is situated on a quiet road with its own car park. It has a great location as it is about a five minute walk to the beach leading to the harbour and pier and a ten minute walk to the shops.
The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and has a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. You are made to feel welcome in all areas of the hotel such as the bar, conservatory restaurant, swimming pool, and garden.
Our room was great too. We stayed in a premium room which was large, clean, and comfortable. We had a sofa and TV with DVD player. The minibar was also handy!
We ate in the hotel's restaurant twice. Both occasions were made into special occasions with very good food, nice music, excellent service, and engaging conversation.
The hotel is an example of excellent accommodation but its biggest asset has to be the proprietors Carsten and Lee. They are both friendly, helpful, and charming. You arrive as guests and leave as friends!
To conclude, we can't wait to go back to this hotel!"

"Very good food, particularly the breakfast. The decor was immaculate and everywhere was spotlessly clean. Good free car parking and within easy walking distance of the beach, harbour, town centre shops, cinema and the Princess Theatre. The only negative was that our (standard) room was small but no doubt the higher grade rooms are bigger."

"We stayed a week at the Riviera Lodge and it was great, the service and attention to detail that Carsten and Lee provide is excellent. The hotel is well placed for the beach and shops and the marina is near too.
We had a choice for breakfast which was nice, but the full english was great. The lounge and conservatory were lovely to relax in and the pool area was really nice although the weather was lousy so we never got a chance to use it. Its clean and modern and very relaxing.
Bed was nice and comfy and our room was cleaned every day which is always nice to come back to. We had a lovely time."

A good all round experince
"The Riviera Lodge is a good hotel made excellent because the owners really do care that you have a nice stay. I took a three day break mid August with my two dayghters 20 and 12 and mother (60+). Rooms were small but this did not matter as there is a very relaxing bar/lounge looking out over the hotel pool. Breakfast was one of the best I have eaten in a hotel and served with a smile. For anyone with major walking difficulites a car would be required to get up and down the hill from the sea front."

"Found this hotel on Trip Advisor and booked because of the good reviews - all well warranted. Nice place, clean, stylish and very friendly owners. I wouldn't stay weeks here - the town is not nice enough, but for a short stay, this hotel is perfect. Our room was small but adequate for a one night - just one comment about the soundproofing - some very noisy activity in the next room kept us awake for a while!
Particularly liked the main rooms, very cosy bar area with comfy sofas and excellent non-intrusive music - just as well, because our rooms were too small to sit and read, but we had a comfortable hour or so reading in the lounge/bar. Outside looked nice, very pretty pool, but we didn't use it because of the weather. Breakfast very good indeed, freshly made porridge specially welcome after a series of hotels that won't do porridge. (too difficult to cook maybe?!).
I would stay here again - and special tip - if any female business travellers ever come to Torquay, this is the place to stay, as you feel completely safe and cared for."

"I checked out this hotel on Tripadvisor......and the reviews are not wrong.
I have travelled to many places and stayed in many hotels in England, but this is probably the best I have ever had the pleasure to stay at. The proprietors are wonderful, the breakfast was excellent, the rooms warm, spotlessly clean and comfortable. It is only a pity that I could only stay one night!
When I next go back to Torquay I will definitely consider going back to the Riviera Lodge Hotel, hopefully sooner rather than later."

"We stayed for one night at this lovely hotel and now wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in Torquay. Very friendly proprietors, lovely ambience and atmosphere, classy surroundings, great little touches (such as the mints which were refreshed and the postcards) and first class food, both dinner and breakfast. Very clean surroundings, very comfortable and clean room.

Great place to stay!
"From the outside the hotel looks well kept. When we arrived we were met and taken to our room No 5. The room is very well fitted and decorated, the en-suite is brand new but overall the room is very small. We had a problem when we failed to get any cold water from tap or toilet. Contacted reception Lee attended within minutes, there is a lot of work going on with builders (not disturbed at all by them)we were moved to another room within five minutes! (i always say when you
find a problem its the reaction to the problem that is important.
Lee`s reaction was superb!!). Anyway room 6 was bigger and everything else fell into place ,spotlessly clean, soft fluffy towels plenty of shower gel/shampoo and a lovely freshly cooked breakfast. Would definately recommend."

"Found this hotel on Trip Advisor & delighted with choice. Easy to book on website, very welcoming helpful "staff", clean, excellent food. You can eat dinner in the conservatory overlooking the pool which overlooks Torbay. Wouldn't look anywhere else next time in Torquay. Only minor drawback is it is up a hill!! but a lot are in this resort."
