"Booked this hotel on the internet, and we got lucky ! Only stopped for two nights but could have stayed longer. Double room had a great sea view and was well furnished. Bathroom was modern and, more importantly, clean. The hotel has a friendly charm about it, and that has a lot to do with the staff. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Breakfast was good (english) with a fair choice too. Didn't eat in the evenings there though, Teignmouth has many restaurants, and it was easy to find better value.
One drawback was the parking, it's very limited. There is a public carpark about 200 yds away, and they charge £3.70 per 24 hrs. You'll have to take this into consideration if your staying for a week !"

Hotel OK but disappointed at handling of a very noisy neighbour
"We stayed at this hotel for two nights. We took a clean top-floor non-
sea view room at a price of £80 per night and were delighted to have a lovely view of the river estuary.
The staff we encountered at this hotel were all young (with the exception of the owner) and very helpful. Breakfast was served in the pleasant basement dining room and was of a good standard.
We did, however, find that noise seemed to travel through the hotel at night and there were three other specific noisy problems at night, the first two of which were beyond anyone's control - we found the seagulls incredibly noisy, perhaps because we were on the top floor alongside other roofs where the seagulls were resting and early in the morning the was a fair amount of noise from cars/dustbin lorries etc - both problems would have been much less of a problem had we not had to have the window open.
The third problem is one which I felt could have been addressed; we were disturbed during the middle of the night by the people in the adjoining room being exceedingly noisy - for a total duration of about 2 hours. Consequently we got very little rest that night. We were disappointed that the owner was unwilling to make any financial recompense for the significant disruption - in his words "the whole hotel complained about the noise".
Overall, I think The Bay Hotel is priced at the upper end of its range. I would stay there again if I couldn't find suitable accommodation elsewhere in town."

Fantastic Bank Holiday break
"Hotel first class, very clean and owners and all staff very friendly, polite and helpful. Restaurant very cosy and quality of food and staff excellent. Everything was done to make our stay enjoyable so much so that we have rebooked for the August Bank Holiday and will most certainly recommend this Hotel to friends and family."

A great place
"The Bay Hotel was a nice place to stay, however since its transformation (complete overhall with assistance of professional interior designers) it is now really nice.
We have stayed here a number of times now as we travel to visit family nearby. The staff and particularly the owners, are helpful, polite and friendly. If there is a problem they will do their best to help. The breakfasts are great and our family joined us last year on New Years eve for a buffet meal which was exceptional and far exceeded a standard buffet. We all thoroughly enjoyed it.
The hotel is well situated for the town and the sea front with a lovely patio at the front also. We will definately return again."

Don't eat in the Restaurant..
"Couple - stayed August 2006
Bright newly decorated sea view room, but room door had a large gap underneath it, so was draughty and rattled alot.
Breakfast was o.k. but when we tried the Restaurant one evening and the food was well below standard, in fact they served up uncooked chicken !!
Staff were friendly, but seemed to watch your every move.
Nothing to do there, no entertainment, plus very little to do in Teignmouth in general, expensive and boring place all round.
Certainly would not go back."
