Dawlish sands+Golden sands
"We go down to Dawlish warren twice a year just for fri-mon breaks and have stayed at Dawlish sands and golden sands, (for the last 10 Years) and not had problems with both, all the staff are friendly and very help full, my 4 kids love it there, they never want to go home, only last year we took our dog. and it was great not having to leave her home. so this year she is coming again, so well done to all the staff and keep it up. cant wait to see you in a few weeks :)"

Dawlish Sands Bronze holiday caravan
"Oh dear where to start! myself and my wife just need a break for a few days. but stick to a well known holiday park. on arrival we had no problems it wasn't until we unlocked the caravan and walked inside, well let me just say I wouldn't rent my caravan out if it looked like this.
firstly the door handle nearly fell off, we then walked onto a very unclean looking tired thread bear carpet, it must be a good 10+ years old at least.
Edges of the laminate everywhere was either peeling or chipped off complimented with seat cushions torn through a lot of use. really this caravan and others we heard about have had there day and need to be replaced.
Good points about it, the bed was comfy but the whole experience of this caravan just made it feel unclean.
The park itself is the most basis looking. the clubhouse was fine and the food pretty good as was the staff cooking and serving, they did a fine job so well done.
would we go back?? take a guess"

"Having read some negative review I was concerned about this holiday. However, all I can say is we (husband and 3 children) had a fabulous holiday here. We arrived early and as the caravan was ready we were allowed in early, which was a nice surprise. The caravan was spotless, the site was well maintained and the staff were very helpful. The evening entertainment was great and my children couldn't wait to go there in the evenings. Dawlish is a lovley place with lots to do in the area. We will return to here in the future. "

Only break we are getting away this year and it was ruined!
"A three day break that we cut short to two days because of the tired and scruffy site- pleasant enough staff and the entertainment team tried hard in a clubhouse that needs to be knocked down and rebuilt to be fit for purpose. The painted wood chip wallpaper would have looked dated in the 1980's and the carpet and fittings were in a similar condition. There was rubbish laying around on the grass verges including plastic bags in a muddy pile that had obviously been there for a few days just feet away fom our caravan.
We had to ask to swap accommodation after one night as the first caravan had mildew in the shower, thick cobwebs in the skylight, ripped wallpaper and a rusted and twisted set of steps a the door. It was shabby and unpleasant. It was only because staff swapped us to another van that we decided to stay one more night rather than waste the 5 hour drive we had made fom Surrey. Very disappointed as it spoilt our holiday and we wasted our money."

"We booked a 4 night stay at the Dawlish Sands Holiday park through the Sun and had a wonderful time. The caravan was clean and the beds already made up (something that we had to do ourselves in other caravan sites) The duvet was warm and beds comfy, everything we needed was in the caravan including a freezer which came in handy!
The shop had necessary essentials in it and the indoor swimming pool was lovely and clean and warm. The entertainers worked hard to entertain the kids despite the park running during non-term time and therefore was a bit empty. A visit from Cyril the squirrel in a buggy was a nice surprise for the kids as he tried to drum up support!!!
All in all it was a great holiday and would definately go again. "

Excellent value for money
"We stayed here in April 2010. That was my wife, daughter, niece and I.
We had a fantatstic time. A well fitted out caravan with everything we should have and all in working order. The only complaint was that it was a bit cold in the morning but soon warmed up with the fire on.
The pool was good fun, the area is beautiful and all staff we encountered where very polite and helpful.
All in all a brilliant 5 days away."

You can go to a much better park. Dont bother here!
"I write this review as an update to my earlier review "Mixed Feelings". My partner and i have returned yesterday from a week in Devon. We initially stayed on Devon Valley in Shaldon but because they change over on a Friday, we moved and stayed on Dawlish Sands for a night to extend our break, as the weather was so nice.
Unfortunately, the only thing which was nice was the weather! We phoned and booked "on spec" at this site for a night's stay (Fri to Sat) as we thought we would give the site the benefit of the doubt after previous experiences.
We spoke to the park receptionist, who was quick enough to take our £40 fee, but said we didnt need to sign any papers and to report at 4pm. We said we had no problem with where the van was located on the site as it was a short stay (usually we would go further from the club). When we got there, the duty officer did not know we were coming and referred us to the officer who booked the van and then when we checked in, we were told it was a bronze 6, number 6 on the site near to club.
We did not find the noise a problem, but the condition of the van was appalling. It had not been cleaned at all, but the dustpan and brush was on the worktop (not hygenic). The carpet was full of bits and mud and stained, curtains did not meet and had shrunk, there was a real stink of cigarettes (especially pronounced as we are non smokers).
But the real surprises were::
1. No bed linen, even though we had PAID for it. I asked the housekeeper for some and he apologised that we were not on his list! Suspicious eh? He was really helpful and did give us a full set!
1a. We did not sign a booking form and this was not proper (as we had done a night stay here before and we had signed) so we were not on the site roll for cleaning, linen and in case of an emergency, so in effect we were tolerated trespassers.
2. The wallboard between Bedroom 2 and 1 had been hit with so much force with a fist, it had cracked and the repair was hidden on one side by another board nailed above to hide it but the wall was pregnant on the bedroom 1 side and out of its track!
3. The gas safety inspection certificate for 2010 was not displayed in the water heater cupboard as per CORGI regulations. The original commissioning certificate for BK Bluebird Caravans from 2003 was there. There may be the new certificate on file, but regulations say a new copy should be affixed in the van.
4. The cooker hob was filthy and burners caked up. When we lit the hob, the one burner flame went 1 feet into the air. Had the appliance been serviced prior to season start?
The only saving grace was we had great weather and a great time out of the van and the site. We felt cheated and upset that the van was so poor and we were scared that we hadnt signed any booking conditions and were known on the site. I did ask the duty officer on the phone and at the site to see if paperwork was required to be signed and was told NO. So why is it when you book otherwise with Park Holidays and this is the fourth time we have stayed here and every time we have signed a booking form. We were worried in case of emergency or if there was a problem as we had no agreement.
As for Dawlish Warren, the village itself is getting even more residential with a private housing development planned opposite the site and others in the village. We are worried that soon its status as a holiday resort will be lost completely. This is a real shame for people such as us who collectively as a family have visited for half a century this year.
DO NOT STAY AT THIS PARK - The reviews of others and I on here should bear this out. You can do much better."

i only give honest reviews .STAY AWAY
"stayed here in august booked three caravans ,family get together ,the caravans were dirty ,bedding and pillows dirty, the so called clean bedding left were tatty, had a swimming pool with life guards who let groups of adults run riot around the kids. the so called club house had no security on the door , so the local teenegers had a meeting place. the club house was more like a girl guide hut. and dont eat at the restaurant we saw the staff round the back chassing each other having fun , with customers plates in there hand. houseasons were kind enough to refund 25 per cent . but only as they never got a response from the owners.when we did finally get a letter it said they had changed virtually all the old working methods and most of the staff. heard this before.? .what concerned us as well was that some of the fire extinguishers were out of date.stay at the camp site next door called welcome family holiday park. nice and clean and well run ."

"The standard of cleanliness in the caravan was very poor. The caravan was old, which I can cope with but the cleanliness was extremely poor. My feet were sticking to the floor as I entered, there was mould in the shower the bathroom itself we could not enter and the stench of urine through out the caravan was horrific and there was a large brown wet stain on the bedroom floor. I asked for an upgrade but this wasn't available until the following night the receptionist tried their best to help but they knew the standard of the caravan was poor. We ended up sleeping in the car that night and check out at 8am the following morning. Yes we booked through a newspaper promotion, therefore we were put in a bronze graded caravan which I tried to upgrade once I received my booking confirmation through but there was no availability but didnât worry too much as we hadn't heard of anyone having a bad experience when holidays through this promotion. The standard wasn't even 1star!! Never ever will we return or recommend that park or holiday with Park Holidays again."

Dirty caravans, ok entertainment.
"We checked in to our caravan at four as advised. We were placed ages away from the entertainment complex, despite having a young child. Trains passed about 200m from the caravan, every 20 mins or so. It was raining and as most of the caravan site is grass it was muddy everywhere, there were huge puddles thanks to uneven paths. It was the first weekend it was open, so you would have thought the caravan would have been cleaned... you'd be wrong. The utensils were greasy, probably from last year. The entertainment complex smelled musty, the only real upside was the entertainers in the evening who were enthusiastic and kept my daughter amused. Plus the breakfast was quite good. Other than that, I would avoid!!!"

Disgusting, dirty, dont bother!!!!!!
"Had to wait over one and a half hours for key because the caravan was being cleaned. Staff stressed and not very helpful. Caravan dirty, thick dust under beds, mud on carpets, windows dirty and had hand prints on them. Caravan stunk of stale urine. Toilet and shower dirty. Complained to reception. They sent a cleaner who could not see what was wrong and attempted to clean the bathroom. Used vaccuum with split house to clean carpets. Spent first evening cleaning the caravan ourselves. Stale urine smell took two days to clear. Cigarette buts strewn around the outside of the caravan. Outside bins overflowing with rubbish and dirty nappies. Very very poor caravan and camp. Been to Dawlish many times and enjoued it. Dont use this hell hole as a base. Manager should be sacked. I have taken many photo's to prove it!"
