Friendly and roomy
"The position of this hotel gives it some great views over the beach of Westward Ho! such as it is perched on a hill overlooking this small town. We arrived on bikes and was able to store them in the porch area of the house which gives you some idea of how big this house is. The good thing about this is that the rooms are also very spacious. The room we stayed in was very clean and tidy with a nautical theme running throughout. Lots of attention to detail here, I like been given the choice of whether to drink out of a cup and saucer or opt for the larger mugs (mugs were my preferred choice). All tea, coffee and biscuits etc. were also fair trade. The room also had a little family corner with a TV and digital receiver in one corner. There was also a couple of comfortable chairs in which to sit in and relax. The bathroom was also a fair size with a shower in the corner; again, this was all very clean and tidy. The beach is a 10 minute walk away from the hotel itself. On clear day night you might be able to enjoy a great sunset complete with surfers still coming in. We ate in the Village Inn pub which does special offers if you go there before a certain time. The food was OK and there is also a selection of real ales. For music fans, there is an excellent juke box in this pub and a pool table. Graham the owner of the Culloden was happy to give help and advice about where to eat and drink in the local area. Breakfast in the morning consisted of the usual cereals, toast, tea, coffee and full English if required. Overall this was decent place to stay, Graham was friendly and helpful and there wasnât anything to complain about."

Great location, great service and comfortable rooms
"Period house with clean and comfortable rooms overlooking the sea. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Great English breakfast. Good location within walking distance of the beach and very easy access to A39 to explore more remote areas of Devon. We stayed with two young children (6 and 7 year-old) in one room and my brother in law and his girlfriend in another. We all enjoyed our stay and am not sure we could have found a more comfortable place in the area."

A great visit and a warm welcome - should be at least 4 AA *!!!
"We stayed at Culloden House for 2 nights on the way down to Cornwall and were made to feel welcome from the outset. There is a relaxed and peace-filled atmosphere and this was enjoyed by all 8 of us: my husband and I, our two children, my parents-in-law as well as my niece and her husband (visiting us from S Africa.) Our room was spacious and had a lovely view and breakfast was enjoyed by all. We look forward to our return and wish Graham and Sandra every success in their B&B."

What a little gem
"We booked this hotel for a business trip. Although finding it was a little difficult (as it's not in Bideford as it's postal address suggests) once we found it the welcome was warm. The rooms were clean and of a good standard, as was the rest of the hotel I saw. The owner was helpful and informative and happy to answer any questions, including some obscure ones. The pub he recommended for dinner (and phoned for us to make sure they were still serving) was great with local beer and some great food. Breakfast was a nice range and plentiful. All in all a real find for the money and I'd happily stay there again."
