Holiday Inn Express East Midlands Airport
10 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"Stayed here night of Friday, 27 June, en route to south of France. Husband, 14 year old daughter and self stayed in adequately sized bedroom for £62.50 in total which included continental breakfast. Breakfast served from 4am and choice suited us fine at that hour. Desk staff quite efficient and friendly - we saw about 3 different people during course of visit. We took taxi there from airport- about £6 and booked with them to take us back to airport in morning and this time we went in the mini bus with another couple. Charge for transport provided by hotel is now £2 per head. For what we wanted it was cheap and good. Would recommend."

"An ideal hotel for an overnight stay, very near to East Midlands Airport (EMA).
Smart and modern reception, with bar and breakfast room. Comfortable guestrooms, clean and with a good bathroom.
I'd rate it a good 3*, comfortable, with everything you need.
I didn't use the shuttle to the airport.
The complimentary breakfast was good and starts really early (around 4.30a.m.).
The only problem we had was the lift wasn't working and we had to lug our luggage up two flights of stairs (and back the next morning as it still wasn't working).
If you wanted more variety to get something to eat or buy something from the shops, there are motorway services literally 2 minutes drive away. (Marks and Spencer foodstore, Fast Food, Shop selling magazines/sweets/general items etc), Coffee shop.
I'd happily stay here again."

"This hotel is close to Midlands Airport. A transit service is offered by the hotel. The rooms are clean and reasonably quiet. The Continental breakfast, ( served from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m.), is adequate.
The staff, particularly the front desk, are rude and inefficient. Don't stay here if you like hospitable, friendly staff. The " I don't care attitude" is enough to ruin the start of a holiday.
If you are relying on the transit service be prepared to wait on staff that will only turn up after constant reminders that passengers are waiting.
When you are checking out, you will have to find the desk staff. They usually hide out in the staff room.
Don't stay here if you like a positive start to your holiday. Air travel is stressful enough."

great hotel handy to airport
"We stayed here for 2 nights as we were attending a wedding nearby. It was all we have come to expect and love from holiday inn express. Modern surroundings, good clean comfortable rooms and a very nice breakfast. Breakfast is what sets the holiday inn above the likes of travel inn etc as it's included in the price. The hotel was extremely well sound proofed and staff were helpful. Only slight disappointment was that the bar apparently closes early if not busy so we were unable to have a drink late on the Saturday night. Would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay near the airport as it's very close and they do have a shuttle service although it depends on whether or not they have a driver available."

Served its purpose
"This hotel does exactly as its called, an express hotel; the staff were particularly helpful when i was hungry at about 10pm and they were not doing food, but did me a round of sandwiches (with a price tag to match the trouble theyd gone to mind!!). Breakfast was a buffet style and there was plenty of it. Excellent location with a good overnight rate too (if you search around of course!!)."

Rooms are satisfactory & the staff are pleasant & friendly. Breakfast included in price.
Very convenient for the airport.
Fine for an overnight stay â or if you need somewhere to house a family overnight in 1 room."

Good price but remote for services.
"This Hotel is great for travel in/out of EMA airport. However it is remote from anything else, no Restaurants, no stores, nothing. Pretty inconvienient from trains; would have had to take shuttle from train to airport then hotel shuttle to get to hotel, so we decided on a cab.
Train to Airport shuttle cost £8ea.
Expensive internest access as with most EU hotels. £20/day
Nice clean room and good service.
Shuttle was fine for us at 6am in the morning, had to sign up the night before."

Airport Shuttle Day shift only
"Hotel was up to the high standard as expected , what did let it down was the shuttle bus to the airport. I thought that paying to park at the Hotel , would at least entitle me to a free shuttle to the Airport -Well it did , but only if you want to go after 9am and the hotel will not say what time it finishes in the afternoon - just ring and hope |||||||We had to pay for a taxi ?4 to the airport as we needed to be there for 8am - we arrived back at 5:30pm -Driver had finished for the day - so we had to walk back to the hotel - No taxis available - not a good idea with lots of luggageMy advice don't leave your car at this hotel - Leave it in the airport car park -its much less worry and much less hassle -"

Fantastic Value for Money
"A fantastic hotel, with great rooms and even better service. Only 5 mins from the airport.
I stayed here recently before flying out from the airport and the nothing was to much trouble for the staff, the rooms were spotless and comfortable.
The food was excellent, we had sizzling steak which was lovely
I reccommend this all the way, far better than the poor quality Thistle which has out dated dirty rooms
Anyway its just my opinon"
