Very peaceful chilled out holiday
"Highly recommended holiday location. We stayed in the newer lodges for a 5 day stay, they were very spacious, modern & very clean. As a family, we chose to make our own meals, even though we could have dined in the hotel which was in the grounds. We were the only family with children when we stayed there, most of the guests were middle aged or older couples, a few of them brought their dogs with them. There were no amenites on site to keep young children occupied, but we went out by car each day. All in all, a very peaceful, enjoyable stay. I would recommend a stay in these swedish lodges to all ages. Would make a nice cosy romantic stay with the sauna & spa bath included in most of the lodges. The nearest shops were approx 2 miles away which was no problem for us as we had a car. Only a short drive to Lakeside at Lake Windermere, and not far from other great locations."

A Gem of a hotel
"Stayed at the hotel for 3 days, had a wonderful stay. Set against a woodland backdrop, peace is the order of the day. The room was cosy and comfortable, very clean.
Food was yummy! and the bar very sociable at night. All the staff were very helpful. It is a fair distance from the hustle and bustle so you will need a car but I found it a great base for visiting the lakes etc. All in all a 5 star stay, Oh yes and the pine lodges down the road look excellent."

peaceful location with 1st class accommodation must visit
"We have just returned from a five day break, we were amazed at the standard of the pine lodge we stayed in as it had all the latest facilities including a sauna and spa bath! There was decking and wooden patio set where you could sit on a nice day and enjoy the peace and quiet. The hotel on site offered a lovely atmospere and excellent food for a pleasant evening. Would definitely go back."

Perfect location for a lovely relaxing getaway break- lovely accommodation in quiet, countryside setting
"We had a 2-night break, staying in one of the lodges and eating at the hotel, which we felt was the perfect combination - the space and privacy of the lodge without the cooking. The lodge itself was gorgeous, clean and fully equipped, even with a dishwasher, iron, pegs, etc. and the decked balcony area, with table and chairs, was a lovely area to sit and enjoy the surroundings.
The food in the hotel was very good, although the menu was not very extensive and we would have struggled to find enough variety if staying for more than a few nights, both in main course and sweet options. However, the breakfasts were very good and plentiful.
The staff were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
The location means that you do need your own transport to get out and about as it is pretty remote but perfect for a quiet, relaxing break. Not much for children to do though."

What an excellent 3 night break in wonderful surroundings
"We booked just two days before and was totally surprised. Hidden away in the trees opening up into a specious and beautiful setting. We totally enjoyed the break. The weather was beautiful, a little crowded in Bowness but could get back to the peace and tranquility at the Woodlands. Stayed in one of lodges ate in the Hotel. Food was excellent. Friendly staff."

"Myself and my husband came for a quiet 3 night break away from the kids, we stayed in a log cabin which had a sauna and a spa bath in it, The cabin was immaculate with all mod cons.
The hotel was very clean and the staff were very friendly. We didn't use the restaurant or bar and liked the fact that we weren't under any pressure to use it by the patrons.
We woke to the sound of birds and watched the rabbits play morning and night right outside the cabin.
All in all we had a great time , we visited windermere and the surrounding areas and relished the quiet surroundings away from all the crush of christmas shopping.
I wouldn't recommend this break if you want shopping centres, clubs or loud music but I would recommend it if you want to have some quality time with people you love and want to enjoy their company.
I would suggest that you call in a supermarket to buy all your essentials prior to your break so you don't have to worry about shopping and their are some takeaways in grange over sands if you don't want to cook ."

A wonderful holiday
"My wife, parents and I stayed at the hotel for a long weekend from Friday 15 August to Sunday 17 August.
The hotel is beautiful to look at, the staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms large and clean, the breakfasts substantial, the food at the restaurant was excellent and the location amazing.
We stayed in the hotel itself which appears to have gone through a recent refurbishment, but it also had several (7, from memory) log cabins for you to stay in.
It is in a quiet idyllic location and was very family friendly.
Bad points - well the TV in the room was small and it isnt very close to a major shopping centre. Thats it really!"
