"My wife and I have just returned from a 3-night stay at the Lymehurst Hotel which we booked on the basis of its positive reviews on this site. We were not disappointed and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in spite of some pretty awful weather.
Although we did not have one of the newly refurbished rooms we found the accommodation very comfortable, exceptionally spacious and immaculately clean. We also liked the location of the hotel which is quiet but provides easy access both to local amenities on foot and to the southern Lake District by car.
What we felt made the hotel special was the excellent food and the exceptional service which we received from the owners and their staff. We stayed on a half-board basis and thoroughly enjoyed every breakfast and dinner. We also had guests for dinner one evening, two of whom are allergic to gluten. We were all incredibly impressed by the way in which the hotel looked after us, even providing 3 varieties of gluten-free bread!"

What a fantastic place to stay
"We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Lymehurst with our two teenagers. We had a fantastic time - Andrea and all the staff made us feel so welcome.
The bedroom was lovely, clean and comfortable with a new bathroom.
The location of the hotel is excellent - it has its own parking and has good road links to the motorway. Grange over Sands is a very picturesque village.
Finally the food - first class, an amazing selection offered at breakfast and the evening meals were brilliant too, complete with home-made bread and desserts to die for!
We will definately go back again."

"Our room was immaculate, brand new bathroom, comfy large bed. The best thing about this hotel, though, was the fantastic food! We have been to a number of 4star hotels in the lake district recently, eg low wood, and the food at the Lymehurst was ten times better!
We didnt meet Kevin, but Andrea was a lovely, quiet, empathic lady, who couldnt do enough for you, with a great sense of humour.
If you want a treat, dont hesitate to book the lymehurst. Good value as well."

"We stayed at Lymehurst Hotel for a friday and saturday night.
Cost: £30 pppn.
The hotel is an old victorian building and was nicely decorated inside, there is a nice lounge area, a breakfast room and also a bar and restaurant attached. There is also a terrace which I imagine would be nice to sit out on in the summer (too cold in Nov!). There are parking spaces for guests to the front of the hotel.
We stayed in one of the double rooms on the first floor. There is a tv and tea/coffee making facilities. The room was clean and warm, the bed comfortable. The bathroom was small and had a shower only (I think other rooms do have a bath). Shampoo, shower gel and a shower cap was provided.
This was the main reason we booked this hotel and we were not disappointed. We ate at the restaurant both nights and really enjoyed the food. There were vegetarian options and a good selection of meat/fish dishes. We both had a starter, main and dessert with a bottle of wine - this cost around £65 which we felt was very reasonable given the high standard.
There was a good selection of food for breakfast (fruit, cereals, pastries and hot dishes cooked to order) which was served between 8.30-9.30am. Again, we were more than happy with the standard of cooking and produce used.
The service throughout our stay was excellent, Andrea and her staff were fantastic, professional and friendly yet unobtrusive.
I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel for a relaxing weekend in the South Lakes."

Very Good Hotel
"Just arrived back from an overnight stay at the Lymehurst Hotel. My husband and I had an extremely pleasant stay there which was a stopover from a business trip further North. The food was excellent, both on the evening and also the breakfast. The yoghurt with breakfast was out of this world. The hosts were attentive but not obtrusive. We had the premier room which was extremely comfortable, large and warm.
An excellent hotel in a good location."

"My husband and I have just had a overnight stay at the Lymehurst Hotel and it was great. The room was clean and comfortable, the bathroom a bit dated, but not a problem. But the highlight of our stay was the wonderful food, what a chef Kevin is. Not surprised he is one of only 250 Master Chefs in the UK. He and his wife are trying very hard to make a success of the hotel and we wish them all the very best, they deserve it."

"We had a wonderful three night stay at the Lymehurst Hotel.
The attention to detail and the general feel of the place cannot be faulted. The hotel itself is a wonderful building with a huge comfortable lounge, on the ground floor and a small number of rooms. It never felt busy even though most of the rooms were occupied. Our room was comfortable, clean and well serviced.
One of the major selling points of the hotel however is the food. We had to admit that the full breakfast was the best we had ever tasted. Hotel breakfasts can sometimes be served with inferior ingredients. Not here though, it is obvious that lots of care and attention had gone into the cooking as well as the presentation. On the strength of the breakfasts we also decided to eat in the Lymestone Restaurant attached to the hotel. This was preceeded by a few pints of lager on the outside terrace. We were waited on hand and foot and the food was spectacular, with a good range and quality of food.
If anyone is thinking of a relaxing break in the South Lakes we would highly recommend this hotel. A great find and we will be back!"
