"We found Coswarth House over a hot chocolate at Mary B' s cafe (well worth a visit). The perfect B&B. Perfect room. Perfect bathroom. And a more than perfect breakfast. And Mike and Mary aren't bad either! We recomed it to anyone. Padstow could do with a few more places like this.

"Quite simply a charming mini-break!! Could not fault the greeting from Mike & Mary, who met us from the car and carried our bags to our immaculate room!! Which incidently, was the "Brunyee Room" - we didn't see the others, but we cannot believe they could be any better than this!! A huge bedroom, beautifully decorated, and a MASSIVE bathroom with a rolltop bath in the centre - perfect for enjoying the bottle of complimentary wine that was chilling in the fridge!!
Aside from the room itself, its all the attention to detail that makes Coswarth House so special. Nothing is ever too much trouble for Mike & Mary. Fresh flowers, homemade biscuits, little fudge "tasters" each day all count towards this being the best B & B we have ever stayed in! And the breakfast!!! Brought to the room - and what a breakfast it is!! It couldn't be any better in a 5 star hotel!!
This is the first time we have ever been motivated to write a review on Tripadviser, so that gives a good indication of how wonderful we think Coswarth House is.
The only downside is that its likely to be impossible to get a room there shortly once word gets out how amazing it is!!! So book early to avoid disappointment!!!
Thanks Mike & Mary for a very wonderful stay - we'll definately be back!!!"

A Gem of a B&B!

"What a fantastic place to stay! From word-go this place was different to any other B&B we have stayed in.

The house is very stylish but also incredibly homely. We stayed in the Garden Room - a spacious, light and airy room overlooking the well kept garden and were immediately impressed by the level of attention to detail that Mike and Mary have put into making you feel at home and pampered all at the same time!

I think the best way to do the place justice is to list all the elements that impressed us so much:

Mike coming to greet us on arrival and help us with our luggage.

The china mugs with a huge range of herbal and traditional teas.

The cafetiere with a range of fresh fair trade coffee in the sweetest glass air-tight jars.

Fresh milk and filtered water in the fridge.

Mike’s scummy home-made flapjack to accompany the tea/coffee, along with the little taster of Padstow fudge left by the bed.

The fresh cut flowers from the garden.

The bathrobes and slippers.

The slate coasters.

The fabulous bathroom with roll top bath and views over the estuary, with Mary’s home blended aromatherapy toiletries.

The complimentary bottle of wine (best enjoyed soaking in the afore-mentioned tub!)

The flat screen TV and free broadband connection.

The intercom in the room which enables you to order your breakfast while in your pyjamas!!

The fantastic breakfast .. fruit compote to die for and a hearty but healthy full English …

The ability to enjoy this breakfast in your room enjoying the view.

We have never felt the need to write a review of a hotel on Trip Advisor before which I guess just illustrates how impressed we were.

Well done Mike and Mary - you have got it just right!"

Best B&B ever

"WOW! What an amazing place and run by an amazing couple! We went for my 30th birthday, and staying there, and Mike and Mary themselves, helped to make it so special. From the initial booking phone call to the minute we left, the service and attention to detail was outstanding, and we were made so welcome. Although we had read reviews saying how fabulous it was, it was still far and above what we were expecting and better than some 5* hotels. With the decor and service it is more like a small boutique hotel than a B&B, but without the pretentions of most boutique hotels. We really cannot recommend it enough. Our only reservation about everyone recommending it is that it's very likely to fully booked next time we want to stay!! ;)) Which we definitely hope to do again! Allie & Andy, July 2007"

"We have just returned from a few days away in Padstow, staying at Coswarth House.
We have never experienced such a warm and friendly welcome from Mike & Mary. They have achieved so much in such a short space of time.
The breakfasts were superb and set us up for the day.
Their attention to detail is second to none in every respect from when we first booked to when we left this morning. Quite a few 5 star hotels could learn a lot. We could have easily stayed longer and will certainly do so on our return.

Hospitality par excellence!

"What a welcome: warm and friendly, with the offer of tea and cakes (complimentary) as soon as we arrived. The hosts Mary and Mike have done a splendid job renovating a typically Cornish house in this wonderful Cornish village to a very high standard. When my husband booked the room, Mary had asked him whether there was anything she could do for us in advance, so there were a beautiful bunch of flowers and a very well-chosen bottle of wine in the fridge waiting for me as a surprise (would he ever have thought if this himself?!)

We agree with all other reviews about all the attentions to detail in the room and bathroom.

The breakfasts, though, really do need a special mention, as they are out of this world! We have travelled far and wide, and can say with absolute sincerity that the choice and quality (and quantity!), as well as the presentation of the food and the cotton/linen napkins are all worthy of a mention in a Good Food Guide!

Another cherry on the cake for me (when I go next - didn't have the opportunity this time, boo-hoo) is that Mary offers aromatherapy massages on the premises. She will discuss what you want or need and then mixes the oils accordingly. There was a choice of various lengths of time, and I thought that the charges were perfectly reasonable.

All in all, we congratulate Mary and Mike on their high standard accommodation and wish them every success on their venture!

"We had a fantastic stay at Coswarth House. Our room was beautiful and the home made banana bread, fridge with filtered water and fresh milk (refreshed daily) and welcome wine made it feel special. Spacious bathroom with Mary's own aromatherapy toiletries, large fluffy towels, bathrobes & slippers, giant bath & walk in shower made it luxurious.

The breakfasts (with crisp linen napkins of course) were fantastic. My wife had an aromatherapy massage and enthused about it.

The only problem - it spoils you for anywhere else !"

"After a great week exploring the far west of Cornwall we finished our holiday with a 1 night stay at Coswarth House Padstow, it was the perfect end to a great week. It was superb, simply it was more like a 5 star hotel than a B&B.
Mike and Mary are lovely hosts and have thought of everything from homemade totally delicious cookies, fresh coffee and milk and even a very welcome bottle of wine in the bedroom, to handmade wonderful smelling toiletries, huge towels, bathrobes and even slippers in the bathroom.
We stayed in the Brunyee room which was huge with one of the best bathrooms i have seen. Perfect for a romantic break or even honeymoon.
Breakfast was served in our room and was delicious I can't recommend this place highly enough, I have no doubt that as word gets out about Coswarth House it will be very difficult to book a room.
Our only regret is that we didn't stay for longer!!"

"In March this year we escaped London to Padstow. Staying at Coswarth House made our weekend away from the children so special. It has three rooms all decorated in a country chic style. Everything about this B & B is so thoughtful. Big fluffly towels and luxury bath robes, home made biscuits and vases of fresh flowers, the morning papers delivered to your door. Nothing is too much trouble.
Mary sorts you out with directions for walks and Mike sends you off with flasks of tea and yummy sandwiches.
The breakfasts are simply delicious with all ingredients sourced locally.
We came back home feeling thoroughly spoilt."

"I could not recommend Coswarth House more highly. An absolutely first class B&B in the delightful fishing village of Padstow.

Mike and Mary make you feel welcome immediately, and give the impression that there is absolutely NOTHING they wouldn't do to make your stay perfect; thoughtful, attention to detail in elegant surroundings, and full of little 'surprise and delight' touches (homemade muffins in the room, local fudge, delicious Free Trade coffee, big fluffy towels, quality soaps and shampoos etc) that elevate this way above your average b and b and hotel.

Mike cooking is really first class - for a treat at breakfast have his French Toast, and for the adventurous, his Huevos Rancheros are a revelation! The ingredients are locally sourced and again, this attention to details shines through.

Everything about Coswarth house whispers quality."
