Nice hotel almost
"We stayed for four days on a half board basis whilst on a coach package to the area. The hotel has nice views over the bay,but the hotel is badly in need of a coat of paint on the outside. Whilst there we where told by staff that the hotel has recently changed ownership. The room was ok, a bit on the smallish side but was kept spotlessy clean. We where there Monday to Friday with entertainment in the form of a vocal singer each evening, in our opinion the singer on Monday night was acceptable, the Wednesday night act was outstanding please do not miss this evenings entertainment. The guy played numerous musical instruments proffesionally and the act was an absolute delight. On the Tuesday and Thursday night go and find something else to do. The big dissapointment to us was the food, in our opinion it was a bit hit and miss. Breakfast was ok but tinned tomatoes was served on three of the four morning we where there, the evening dinner is laid on nightly at a quarter to seven, again during the evening meal tinned vegatables where served, we had to send some dishes back as they had not been cooked properly. Overall an acceptable break, but Newqay was not to out taste."

Very Welcoming,Nothing is too much trouble
"We stayed at the Cliffdene for 2 nights. My partner was doing a bike ride from LCFC-Lands End. They provided a place for the bike to be stored & locked away. Opened the bar for us when we first arrived for drinks. The rooms were spotless as well as the building its self. Breakfast was lovely, great selection & extras avalible for your full english. They shown a genuine intrest in us & what we were doing & even donated to the charity the bike ride was for. Fabulous staff, The location was great, 5 mins from the centre, overlooking a great part of the beach, great for taking in the views & the surfers!! on the last day, after we left our room they let us leave the cars while we walked around & looked after the bike. If they car park at the hotel was full they provide you with a free ticket to a nearby carpark. A great stay & would use it again when visiting Newquay."

Beautiful Location, Nice Hotel
"You couldn't ask for a better location. It's close enough to the bars and beaches to make them accessible but far away enough to be quiet. You're looking out over the sea and the view is wonderful. I saw a full moon over the bay as I staggered back from the bars! It was lovely. The rooms were nice enough. They were clean and the bathroom was quite good. It's difficult to have a lousy weekend in Newquay but I certainly enjoyed my stay."

friendly atmosphere,stunning views,welcoming staff
"We had a double room booked at very short notice, the room did not have a sea view but we could see the sea by looking sideways out of the window, although we were overlooking a hugh hole in the ground. The room & ensuite were very clean & warm providing everything as advertised,(the bed was a little hard).Breakfast was good, staff very effiecient & polite.Thank you for a good stay, especially the views over the road,we even managed to get a parking space on the forecourt."

Room with a view
"Spent four nights at the Cliffdene in early April. Friendly, clean and well situated on the front at Newquay. Five minutes walk from a great Italian Restaurant and ten fron Skinners, a real ale jazz pub. Hotel's only snags were very fixed meal times and rather too solid beds! Menu always had choice of meal - meat/fish/veggie. (Had to order dinner at breakfast time). Reception will order your choice of newspaper. Newquay itself looks a little run-down - boarded up hotels & guesthouses. Good walks around the coastal path, pretty harbour, nice people."

Excellent hotel, staff friendly & helpful, worth a stay!
"My boyfriend & I ended up staying in this hotel due to the other one (The Gull Rock Hotel - see my other review) being terrible and we're very glad we did. The manager went out of his way to get us a room and must have spent a good half an hour doing so! The hotel was clean and pleasant, the bedroom and ensuite bathroom were fantastic and extremely clean and modern. I don't think I've ever seen bathroom tiles gleam so much! The dining room and bar staff were excellent and went out their way to make you feel welcome. The entertainment of an evening was good if you didn't feel like going out and facing the bars of Newquay. And there was the added bonuses of car parking and a fabulous beach just over the road from the hotel. I would recommend this hotel to anyone."

"I went on a National Holidays coach tour to the Cliffdene and it was one of the best holidays of my life. The staff were friendly, polite and welcoming. I had a super room with sea views and a beautiful ensuite shower which was spotlessly clean and equipped with luxurious towels. The food, both at breakfast and the evening meal was fabulous with a good choice of menu. The decor in the hotel was excellent and the lounge had new, beautiful settees and carpets. The evening entertainment was very good and drinks were reasonably priced. I cannot wait to return and hope that National Holidays will be advertising more holidays at this hotel. Thank you for a great time. Joan Newton, Middlesbrough."

"We have just spent 3 nights at Cliffdene and were very impressed with all aspects of the hotel, from the management staff to the waitresses in the Restaurant . They were courteous and helpful at all times and the standard of hygiene throughout the hotel was most commendable. An excellent holiday, thank you! Shirley and Anne."
