"When we arrived with our coach party first impressions was not very good, but on entering hotel we were pleasantly surprised, my sister and myself were sharing a room and were surprised to see a double bed and also a single bed. Lovely new bathroom modern shower and plenty of hot water. All the staff were very friendly and the food was well presented and very tasty. All in all we had a lovely 4 day break at this hotel."

Customer Friendly Hotel

"Like most of the posts on this site we found the hotel well above average from our contact in booking to the welcome when we arrived. We were offered a very good deal for a double room and adjacent single for our Grandson. The food was good and the restaurant staff were very attentive, as for having to wait ages for a cup of coffee (previous post) it was good to know that you could help your self to unlimited cups when YOU wanted it ! and also have it served, you only had to ask ! Lostwithiel is central for many Cornish attractions including Foyer and Bodmin and it's jail."

"Nothing against this hotel But nothing for it either! Hotel was clean and tidy and nothing objectionable. The room was clean and tidy too, but bedroom was small and a little cramped. Breakfast was adequate, but nothing to feel enthusaistic about. Staff were really helpful and pleasant."

"The Restormel Lodge Hotel is well placed to travel around Cornwall (and indeed into Devon), without being in an area that has been spoilt by people wishing to make a 'fast buck' out of tourists. On arriving we were greeted by friendly staff (who offered to carry our bags!) and shown to a spacious, clean room. The dining room had a very relaxed atmosphere and we were served by polite, professional staf with food that was of a very high standard. All-in-all a fantastic long weekend, will be back!"

"Stayed here on a few occasions. Never had any cause for complaint. In fact since the latest refurb things have only got better. Fairly laid back but very attentive to what you need. The food is top notch with an excellent selection of fresh local produce. Having a pool on site is handy as it is not to close to the beach but is great as a base for walking and touring. The town has a great selection of pubs, each worth a visit. Although the Hotel is part of a small group it is completely individual and 1st Class."

"• We will not be using the Restormel Lodge Hotel or indeed Best Western Hotels as we do not think they provide value for money. • We were provided what was supposed to be the a ‘best room’. • This was on the ground floor so that it was impossible to have a window open at night. To compensate they provided a 6” fan which created a hell of a racket. So sleep in a sauna or open a window. Outcome Sleep in your own sweat. • I have a hearing problem which I have solved by providing a set of headphones for myself. This requires a headphone socket in the TV. Best Western cheap TVs do not have headphone sockets. The receptionist lied when she said that she would swop the TV. I’m still waiting. Outcome No TV. • Returned from a day trip to find our room door ajar. It had been left open by the housekeeping staff. We were lucky nothing was stolen. • Get your own coffee at breakfast otherwise you will be waiting all day for a refill. • We cut our stay short and moved to the 4* Hilton in Bath for £10 more per night for DBB. Air conditioned room and a flat screen TV that I could Use"

"I have stayed in this hotel lots of times. It doesn't look like anything special at all on the outside but this hotel is made special by the wonderful staff employed there. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they are helpful and knowledgeable about the region. The rooms are bright and clean and the breakfasts are good. We didn't stay for an evening meal there this time but we have in the past and the food was excellent then. There is a small, heated, outdoor swimming pool and you can get towels from Reception. We shall go there again. Lostwithiel is a good central place for exploring East Cornwall and it is a charming, historic country town and people tend to drive through it without stopping to discover what a lovely place it is."

"The hotel was going through a refurbishment when we stayed. I think our rooms, numbers 5 and 4, had just been finished and were imaculate. Our double was alittle small and only had a shower but very quiet and comfortable. The other room was a twin bigger room and again only a shower. Only complaint was that when we arrived at 4pm on a Friday the front door was locked. We were told to use the front entrance rather thean the back as on of our party is disabled and the ramp was at the front. There are steps down from the car park.We hammered on the door but nobody could hear us as the reception desk is throght he lounge passed the bar and dining room and through a door!! There was no door bell so we resorted to phoning the hotel. It rang for ages and eventually a man came to let us in with no apology and leaving us with the bags as he strode back to the recaption. Appart from him the staff were so nice and friendly. Lovely food, even if we were almost the only people there. We will use this hotel again."

"As already mentioned the appearance of this hotel was not great. The photo of the pool in the brochure is a little misleading as it now has a fence around it. Very good from the safety point of view if you have children but not so attractive- especially as it is squashed up against the windows of the hotel where everyone can watch you and your wobbly bits swimming. From a child free adult point of view it was not inviting..... The staff though were excellent. They were very welcoming and helpful. The meals were large and well cooked and enjoyable. The room was basic and clean but as we could not leave the window open (we were on the ground floor next to the pool) were stuffy and hot."

"A friendly welcome dispelled our disappointment at the unprepossessing appearance of this hotel. Our room was spacious, comfortable and well designed. (I was impressed to see that all the light bulbs were long life.) The menus offerd a good choice (though not too much for vegetarians. The food was of very good quality and the portions were very generous indeed."
