"As a couple who use quite a lot of guest houses and bed and breakfasts we have never found one like this. The room was exceptionally clean and tidy and the food was excellent. Paul the owner and cook and a wonderful musician made us feel very welcome and created a real home from home atmosphere. This place really sets a standard that all other places should aspire to. Thanks again we shall be back."

"We only stayed at Chester House B&B for one night but will be going back again and can certainly recommend. From the moment you book your room you get a warm welcome from Paul. Superb room, food and host. Many thanks Paul and best wishes for Katie's career."

Look twice at website, very deceiving

"Chester House B&B is an average style accomodation, is only half the size of picture on website. Parking is ridiculously tight nd room very small and oddly shaped, tiny bathroom. Hoole Road has an abundance of B&B's so suggest trying another one rather than this one."

Stayed here for a hen night

"We stayed here for one night on a hen night in August. As our party consisted of 5 females, we were pleased to have found somewhere that a) would accept an all female party and b) that would allow us to book a one night stay. We were offered a family room for the five of us and I envisaged that we would be squashed in like sardines and on make shift beds. On arriving, I was pleasantly surprised to find a double bed and 3 proper single beds with room to swing a cat! The shower room was spacious, the room was clean and perfectly adequate for our means. The B&B is on a main road, however, slightly set back and the traffic did not bother us in the slightest. It was perfectly located - either a 20 minute walk to the town centre or a 5 minute taxi ride costing approx. £3.80. There were areas for improvement with regards to the service. Upon arrival we were asked what time we would like our breakfast and a time of 9 am was suggested. Given that we knew it would be a late night, we asked if there was the possibility of a slightly later breakfast but were told that was the latest they could do. Appreciate that they don't want to be cooking all morning, however, 9am is still quite early to stop serving breakfast on a Sunday. Portion sizes weren't generous, strictly 1 slice of toast each with the cooked breakfast (which consisted of 1 sausage, 1 bacon, 1 egg and a small spoon of beans), one small glass of orange, and when we asked for more milk for the tea we were told that we should have had enough to go around! There was no chance of more tea or coffee, one cup only. In addition, one of the party asked for a vegetarian breakfast in the morning to which she was impolitely told that she should have asked for it upon arrival! Given that the only difference was the removal of sausage and bacon for a hash brown and veggie sausage, am not sure what the big deal was. On the plus side, we were allowed to keep our luggage in the hotel whilst we went to Chester and returned later to the mini bus. They also kindly agreed to decorating the room in advance with balloons etc. Only other comment I would make was that for the room of 5 of us for 1 night it cost us £175, £35 each. I know Chester can be expensive but I think this is slightly on the high side for the facilities/service. Overall, Chester House B&B was perfectly adequate for the purpose of our trip."

Minimum services fo rgrade

"We didn't expect to stay at this B&B as we had booked into another B&B owned by the same people. i had booked and PAID six weeks in advance and was therefore less than pleased to be moved from a leafy side street on to a very busy mainroad. The B&B was clean but needed smartening up, everything was just the minimum to sustain the 3 diamond rating. No choice at breakfast, one slice of toast only, no wardrobe, just a hanging rail across the window, no hairdryer, no toiletries, no extra care at all. The owners put us in a bad position, it was either stay or get a refund and find somewhere else. We were only there for three nights and didn't want to spend our first day searching for accommodation, when we had already done this on the net. Not a comfortable stay at all, quite took the shine off a beautiful city and not something would recommend or want to repeat. Certainly wouldn't go back."
