"I have stayed at this guest house for many years and have never been disappointed, the rooms are very clean and very nicely furnished. Ann and son David are such a pleasant couple, and the breakfast is excellent. The only time I am disappointed is when they are full and cannot get a room,I would thoroughly recommend this guest house to anyone."

Gorgeous room, but where's the clock?

"Stayed here in May, 2009, for five nights and was extremely pleased at the size and cleanliness of the modern room. It included two chairs, large flat-screen tv, comfortable bed, and a drinks tray. The best part of the visit though was chatting with the owner, David Hudson. I often stayed long after breakfast ended to discuss many topics with David, always in a respectful and humorous manner. My criticisms would be some towels in the en-suite room that should have been replaced, a typical, but unexciting English breakfast menu, (fresh fruit would have been appreciated) and a pet peeve of mine: no clock in the room. The guest house is located near charming Hoole Village, but is a long walk (at least 20 minutes) from Chester. All in all, a very pleasant stay at Cheltenham Lodge."

"Spent a weekend at the Cheltenham Lodge Hotel. David, the owner was very friendly and welcoming. Our room was spacious and in addition to a double and single bed, there was a settee and easy chair which was a plus when watching TV (well it was Wimbledon and Andy Murray was playing). We shall certainly go back again next year."

"Lovely weekend stay at Cheltenham Lodge. Rooms are spacious, clean and have everything you need, including a decent hairdryer - not a travel type one you normally get in hotels. The bathroom contains no bath, but the shower is a double sized unit. Breakfast was very good quality food and the service was great. The centre of Chester was only around 15 mins walk away - great location for exploring Chester and some very nice restaurants nearby. We were made to feelvery welcome during our 2 night stay and they catered for our baby well with a comfortable travel cot and high chair. Would recommend this hotel as comfortable, very welcoming and good value."

Lovely stay at Cheltenham Lodge

"Just got back from a weekend at Cheltenham lodge, and have to say that it's a lovely place. I stayed in room 2 with a friend. This was advertised as a Family Room, so contained a double and a single bed, as well as a small seating area, a flat-screen TV and DVD player. Even with all this there was still plenty of room to move around. Only two small gripes, breakfast is only served from 8.30-9 on a weekend - so a late lie-in is not an option, and, payment is cash or cheque no debit cards. Breakfast was lovely, good quality sausages, and cooked to order (so you can have your eggs however you like). The rooms where clean and well equiped, and facilties where of a good quality. A taxi to the city centre is £4 - you can walk....but not really recommended with heels. We paid £65 per night, and it was well worth it."

"having stayed at The Cheltenham Lodge i wanted to pass on my compliments. this pleasant family run guest house is ideally situated just on the outskirts of Chester City so as not to be too noisy and yet within easy reach of the town center by local bus or a leisurely 10 minute walk. the guest house itself has a charming exterior and inside is made to feel homely and comfortable. i recieved excellent service and the rooms were kept spick and span at all times. i would not hesitate to reccomend freinds or colleagues to stay at this charming guest house"

"Visited Chester in late November for Christmas shopping and booked the B&B over the phone found the reception to be very helpful.. On arrival we were actually asked if we need a hand with our luggage, and then shown our room. The room was beautiful and clean. It was very much like a mini suite with its own settee and 32"screen tv with cd and dvd player. Breakfast in the morning was yet another good experience. the waiter was very informative about Chester, where to go and what to see. He also suggested a fantastic restaurant on our 2nd nights stay. we will return with out a doubt"
