11 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"Sadly we leave tomorrow after 6 wonderful days. The hotel is excellent. The staff very helpful and friendly. We had a large, spacious room with everything we needed. Lovely pool and the Jacuzzi a great place when cold. We really hope we can come again next year. We fail to understand the grumblers in previous reviews! It is excellent value for money and a happy place to stay. Thank you."

good hotel at a reasonable price
"APOLLO HOTEL ST HELIER JERSEY Our party had two rooms for 3 and 5 days respectively. The rooms were very comfortable, well maintained, and have tea/coffee making facilities, hair dryer, trouser press and of course a television. The rooms were kept clean although in our case both bathrooms needed as facelift otherwiise I would have rated the hotel as excellent. The public areas are all well maintained and comfortable. Breakfast always had a good choice of food including fish, cheese and cerial as well as the usual eggs, bacon tomatoes etc etc . The staff were attentive and service was good. We had the set evening meal in the hotel one night which was excellent value for money but was too expensive for us to eat in the hotel every night but much better value than any meal we had outside the hotel . The hotel has free car parking and ample parking spaces for guests. The location is also very good being only yards away from the main high street. The hotel has an external bar/pub attached which is not up to the standard in the rest of the hotel for food quality. We are not normally into museums but DONT MISS THE Privately Owned Steam, Motor and General Museum run by the Pallot family which is just off the A9 to the noth of St Helier. This was our best attraction by far and at a cost of around £5 was better value than any other attraction we visited. This really is a little gem and although we didnt see it, we believe there are steam train rides on thurday's"

Apollo is shocking
"The facilities at the hotel were there...just not open! Receptionist was arrogant and unfriendly. The bedroom was out dated, paint flaking from windows, plug in bath didn't hold water, kettle had yellowed with age, cracked tiles in bathroom. Really pleased we only stayed one night."

Great Hotel, Great Location, Very Relaxing.
"We stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel was situated two minutes walk from the town centre in St Helier, very clean and well maintained. Facilities were excellent especially the indoor pool and Jacuzzi. Staff were very helpful except for one receptionist. The only problem is that you need to have passed your advanced driving test to park your car in the car park at the rear of the hotel (half of the car park was closed for apparent maintenance which reduced the space to park). Our room was spacious especially the bathroom though the water pressure was very low in the shower. We stayed in a four-poster bedroom, which was very comfortable with plenty of wardrobe space. Breakfast was excellent, good choice from cooked breakfast to continental breakfast options, restaurant very clean and staff efficient. Overall we found the Apollo Hotel to be an excellent hotel that exceeded our expectations and would definitely return in the future."

good location, nothing special
"Just had 4 nights at the apollo with 2 adults and 2 young children, the room was OK, If a little scruffy and the bed wasnt very comfortable (although my wife thought it was OK), The kids were in a bunk and enjoyed it. Room was at the front and was very noisy with traffic noise, The location was great, very handy for getting into St Helier, and was very useful to have parking The staff didnt seem very friendly, although we had no real problems with a 2 and a 4 year old. The indoor pool was good Breakfast was fine as well Jersey was a lovely place, a shame the castles werent open until April, but the zoo and the war tunnels were very good, and the beaches were lovely (although we did need to wrap up warm!!)"

A lovely break
"Just returned from a half term break with our kids at the Apollo hotel, this excellent hotel truly welcomes children with friendly staff who went out of their way to assist, enabling us to relax and enjoy our holiday. very good indoor pool, it was useful having a cafe next to the pool so we could enjoy a coffee whilst the children swam. You can walk from the hotel to a range of restaurants but we ate in the hotel 2 nights and enjoyed it - excellent value. Very comfy room overlooking the garden. Liked the car parking so close to town. Pleased to find plenty to do in Jersey."

tinned ravioli for £13.50
"We went to stay at this hotel over valentines weekend. We stayed half board. The breakfast wasn't too bad but the evening meal was terrible. The first night I had the veggie curry, which was made from processed vegetables in a flavourless dressing with over cooked rice. revolting. The last night I ordered ravioli and got a tin of Heinz ravioli clearly heated up in the microwave in the bowl. This for £13.50 a head! honest! If someone had told me, I wouldn't have beleived it. On out second night, we were kept up by loud disco music until 1am, from the bar underneath our room. multiple phone calls to reception had no effect. On leaving I told the manager how dissappointed we were with our stay and he really could not have cared less. On protest he refunded our meal (he wasn't going to, £22)but was unfriendly and said that the menu did not state that the food would be fresh, what did i expect for £13.50? Also, I am afraid to say that the showers change from boiling hot to freezing continually and the rooms are extremely tired, and not very clean. I would not reccommend this hotel, unless every other room on the island is full. By the way, Jersey is lovely, have a nice time."

well placed hotel
"I wasn't overly taken with this hotel, I preferred my stay at The Royal Best Western Hotel in St. Helier. However it was a well placed hotel with only a three minute walk into town. Friendly enough day staff, but a grumpy night porter was clearly none too pleased at having to answer the main door to me after I went out for the night, and came back to find it locked. Has a lovely outdoor, and an indoor pool, I would say it's a great hotel for families. Hotel advertises room service, but this is only a limited choice breakfast menu, so I was a little disappointed at that. The breakfast menu in the restaurant had more choice however, and polite waiting staff. The menu at the hotel restaurant sounded delicious, but I didn't get the chance to eat there. There is a delicious Italian in the town called 'The Italian Job'. Delicious food I would recommend it! Jersey is tax free, but still fairly pricey. If you intend to buy perfumes, I would advise you to purchase them at the airport duty free instead! Excellent places to go out included La Ca La and The bar. The hotel on site at The Apollo was called 'The Boot and Ball' and this also proved a great place to go. It's a sports bar with a nice chilled atmosphere- met some great friends here! Plus as a bonus you can just walk straight through the hotel to get to the pub."

Great hotel in a good location
"Just got back from a lovely stay at the Apollo which we booked off jersey hotels. Everyone was very helpful, and the girls at the desk were very informative of the restaurants in the area and provided us with information on tourist attractions. The room was on the small side, but it was clean and comfortable. We hope to go back next year and wouldn't hesitate to stay in this hotel again."

"Just returned from a 4 day break at the hotel and feel rather disappointed. Maybe I was expecting something more from reading the reviews. The hotel is close to the main shopping area, a definate bonus, but a fair walk from the sea. The hotel has no street appeal -looking a bit run down and is situated on a busy road. The hotel does have a car park useful if you hire a car though it is small and I would think parking could be a problem at busy times. It is also very difficult to get to at school times, as it is the main exit road for the nearby school. However after parking the car you approach the hotel via the rear, again an area which could do with some improvements. The public rooms are small but very pleasant. The indoor pool and jacussi were ok, but changing rooms tired looking and the gym lacked modern expectations. Our bedroom was clean and tidy, it overlooked the outdoor pool was considered executive as it had a fridge. We stayed half board. The breakfast was buffet style and consisted of the usual fayre Evening meals were forgetable and though served ours never took longer than 30 mins for three courses. Maybe this sounds rather harsh but for the price we paid I would not return to the hotel."
