Samare's Coast Hotel
10 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"Have stayed at the Samares twice now within the last six months, both times have felt it very good value. First time, last September 2007 we enjoyed a garden view room, this time thought we would pamper ourselves and book a sea view room with a balcony. However, a warning: all four of the sea view rooms have obscured views due to the double glazing seal being broken, we were able to tell this as the balcony is communal. Also, it is very noisy not only from the traffic on the main road, but the delivery vans come to the front of the hotel quite early in the morning. All in all, the garden room was preferable. Would we go there again, probably yes."

A very enjoyable stay and highly recommended by us
"We have been going to Jersey for quite some time now and have always tried to stay in a Morvan Family Hotel. We first checked this one out back in 2005 and have stayed there ever since.
We had taken a walk along the coast to St Clements and decided to take a look at one of the balcony rooms at the Samares Coast for the next year - after seeing the room we booked it immediately. This year we will be going once again and wouldn't stay anywhere else - the gardens are lovely and secluded at the back of the hotel, with a pool outside and another indoors. Staff are very friendly and helpful and through the years we have got to know them well. It is ideal for all ages and situated outside of town facing the coast with a beach just across the road. The bus stops across the road to go into St Helier and just steps from the front entrance when it brings you back - so not much walking to do. The food is excellent and it is well worth a visit - my husband loves the view from the balcony and can often be found lying on his lounger taking in the sun."

A Good Family Holiday
"We have just returned from our first Family Holiday in Jersey.
Samares Coast is situated approx 1.5 miles east of St Helier on the main road. It is well situated overlooking St Clements Bay. Being on the main road easy to get to.
My wife, two daughters aged 7 and 10 and I all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. All hotel staff we polite, very professional and helpful. The hotel rooms grounds and facilities were all clean and well kept. The hotel has well landscaped gardens, indoor and outdoor pools, gym, jaccuzi and steam room.
Our family room had a comfortable double bed, and two singles and an on suite bathroom. The room was quiet, clean and overlooked the rear gardens.
The restaurant was excellent value for money with faultless service and meals. It looks out over St Clements Bay.
This hotel is very good value for money and we would not look for another Hotel when returning to Jersy."

Not bad but could be better and not the best part of the island
"Well, on the good side, the staff were on the whole excellent esp those in the restaurant & reception. The room wasn`t very big and although we`d booked a room with a sea view, what wasn`t apparent from the website was that that meant it overlooked the main road heading from St Helier to the east of the island, which meant a lot of traffic noise. And the view over the beach looks out onto the east end of St Helier which is where the waste reclamation site plus 100` chimney are. The room had a comfortable large bed (two singles put together, although we had to remind them of this) and plenty of wardrobe & drawer space. Small bathroom which a door which opened inwards, but only a small way as it hit the washbasin and rebounded in one`s face unless carefully done. Food in the restaurant was nicely cooked and presented, but limited in choices - 4 main courses, including one vegetarian and one cold. Sitting times were from 6.30-8 with the risk that whatever the popular item might be might have gone unless you`re there early. Ventilation in the restaurant could have been better too. However, the wine list although short was well-chosen and not expensive, with helpful bar staff. Breakfast was good too - array of cereals or full English with excellent scrambled egg and lincolnshire sausage and (occasionally) black pudding.
Parking at the hotel is around the back and not signposted - we wouldn`t have found it unless one of the staff happened to be standing at a bus-stop and, seeing us going past several times, waved us down to help us (I said they were helpful!). At the back of the hotel are the gardens, nicely laid out but not quite enough chairs, and surrounding a small outdoor pool located next to a larger indoor pool (about 15 feet by 30 feet) which was nice for a quick dip after a hot day.
The main problem with the hotel is that if dinner is as early as 6.30-8, there`s nothing nearby to do afterwards. Nothing at all, unless you want to drive somewhere. So if you`re happy to have a relatively early meal and then sit around either in the garden or your (non-airconditioned) room reading, then fine. If you want to go out somewhere else, you`ll need a taxi or a car. However, booking at half-board doesn`t add much to the room cost and if you let them know early enough if you don`t want to eat in, they`ll take it off the bill which is nice of them."

Great stay at the self-catering apartments
"We have had such a wonderful stay at Samares coast hotel we couldn't give it more praise. We chose it because of the good reviews here and sure enough it turns out to be great. We booked through the hotel directly - check for its special internet rate, its a great bargain at off-season.
We stayed at its self-catering apartments because we want more space and always prefer to have breakfast at my own time in my room anyway. The apartments are of a good size, dining room (with tv, sofas and dining table), kitchen, toliet and bathroom. They overlook the garden or the outdoor pool and the view is actually lovely (or even better than the coast view from the hotel rooms because the rocky St Clement coast can look rather gloomy). The apartments have individual access (no need to go through reception), and cars can be parked very nearby. They are also serviced daily.
We love the indoor swimming pool! It's a bit small, perfect for a couple to swim in , but anything more than that, its a bit swarmed. but we went at low season so its fine. It is very clean and cosy and feels like a luxurious private gym. It also contains a steam room, jaccuzzi and a small fitness gym center. Towels are provided in the indoor pool. Being able to swim on our holiday and just hop down to the swimming pool from our apartment in 2 minutes make a big difference to our holiday! we end up swimming there everyday.
We also love the hotel resturant. Its of excellent value (15 pounds for 3 course meal, plus after dinner tea and cheese). Everything is delicious and very nicely presented. I would say the meal would costs at least 30 pounds in London. The staff are extremely professional - 5 star service really. Especially the new catering supervisor - a nice man who provides professional service and treat you like a VIP! Must praise him for making our stay wonderful. Apart from one night out at St Aubin, we returned every night for good food at the hotel. The resturant is only open from 6.30-8pm (last order at 8pm) and you have to book through the reception before 5pm, which can be troublesome.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Samares coast apartment. Lovely stay, great value. We hopped over to St. Belgrade and saw those hotels which costs over 150 pounds a night (and not even with a view) and was so glad we chose to stay at Samares coast!!!"

"Brilliant location - 10 yards from the beach(great for exploring with kids when the tide's out), out of town but only 5 minutes from St Helier by bus. Bus service very reliable and better than using a car (we hired a car for our trip and barely used it - expensive mistake!!)
Good accommodation (apartment), very safe and friendly for young kids, great evening meals and very friendly staff. Beautiful place to spend a lazy day when the sun's out - if the weather's not so clever you're only a short bus trip away from other things to do.
We booked up for summer 2007 before we left last year. Try it -you'll like it! (we're not hiring a car this time!)"

Nice hotel, shame about the cold food
"The hotel is very nice and very warm. The Staff are very helpful. The indoor pool is very hot. The only critism is that the food could be a lot hotter, and if you have the vegetarian option you do not get any potatoes with it at all."

Great for a toddler
"Trying to find a reasonably priced hotel room catering for a couple and a toddler isnt easy on Jersey. But this is definitely the hotel to choose. The reasons?
+ 2year olds go free - everywhere else charged 50% of adult
+ free parking
+ free listening service in the rooms so we could leave toddler asleep in room and enjoy dinner in peace
+ very decent table d'hote menu in pleasant sea-view restaurant
+ smashing help yourself cooked breakfast
+ high chair & cot provided
+ beautiful enclosed garden & lawn, ideal for littlun to potterabout
+ sun loungers and very comfy cushions
+ excellent heated outdoor pool & a small paddling pool
+ high-quality indoor pool & sauna
Our room was a bit cramped - you wouldnt want to spend time in it, but the rest of the hotel was so nice you wouldnt want to. Overall, highly recommended."

A Wonderful Hotel !
"This was our first trip to jersey, we picked up our little hire car (ideal for Jersey roads), and went straight to our Hotel, it didn't take long ,no trip on Jersey will.We Checked in and were shown to our room , we were impressed with the on suite shower and general decor of the room which was well laid out.
After looking at the hotel menu ,we decided to book a table for that everning , a wise decision ,the meal and service was first rate ,we had a private bet on the cost, both of us were well over our estimates, we ended up spending every evening there . Another hotel facility we used on a regular basis was the indoor pool which had a small steam room and hot tub, a good way to end the day after exploring the island.
On The whole we was very inpressed with this hotel, the staff were very professional,it reminded us of when we went on a cruise, it was that good !
