so so stay at hotel turunc
"just back from hotel turunc.been to turkey twice before(bitez,hisaronu/oledeniz)love turkey.Transfer from airport in a 30 seater mini bus was 3hrs 10 mins after landing at 8.10pm arrived at hotel 00:10am.Been told if your travelling with a package holiday in a large bus transfer time can take up to six hours if you have multi drop offs.Receptionists are not too friendly.Rooms begining with Nos 1 or 2 will be in my words the first part off the hotel where it doesnt quite match 4/5 star more like 2/3 star but the rest of the blocks are a lot better (russian, polish and german apts). Mini bar/fridge is absolutely diabolical,it would'nt make you an ice cube/chill your water even if you had an eskimo in it,also with all-inclusive you dont get anything put in it apart from 2 small btls water and 2 sml btls of mineral water for yor arrival. Food is fantastic with a great selection for all nationalites and it is'nt left out all day for the flies which is worth 2 stars in itself .There is meal times which is good.Watch out for the bbq chicken and make sure its cooked properly, bbq sea bass is fantastic as is the tuna, liver and all other bbq food. You should try a little bit of everything, you wil be surprised at how much you will enjoy. Unmotorised water sports is not free the same as motorised water sports but is advertised as so, (pedalos £6 per hour, kayaks £4ph,jet skis £25 per 10 mins). BUT !!!! most importantly is your return journey. We travelled as a party of six adults and we left Glasgow with the average weight of 20kilos each(which i understood was the permitted allowance),but at Dalaman airport, with luggage the same weight as Glasgow the cases were put outo the conveyour belt ,tagged and left sight on an other belt then was told we were over weight by 29kilos (around 5kilos extra each)and we had to pay a charge of wait for it.............£174.....yes......£174 =£6 perkilo and was not allowed to retreive our bags to take the two smallest cases off as hand luggage and were told that if we did'nt pay in cash not credit card just cash we would be removed from the flight.DIABOLICAL. Cant understand why we were'nt told that we were over weight at Glasgow. Mik & Ali 08"

Otel Turunc Great !!!
"My husband myself and 2 friends have just returned from a 2 week stay at this hotel, it was our first visit to Turkey and we thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of our holiday.
the hotel staff especially the waiters and bar staff are very friendly , the food was good plenty of choice we had no trouble finding something suitable to eat. The little bay it is situated in is very peaceful and you can get the taxi boat and boat trips from the nearby
the rooms we stayed in could do with refurbishing but we were glad in the end that we were in this block as on 2nd week the hotel seemed to be full of germans and russians and they thankfully were in the other blocks, they were noisy and very pushy they didn't seem to understand that they couldn't push to the front of the queue at the bar or at mealtimes but we held our ground.
in all we had a fantastic time and would definetly stay at this hotel again the little village of Turunc is really lovely and the people were so friendly. If you want togo on trips whilst there go to J&M Travel agency they do a great fun Jeep safari and any other attractions you want to go to Janice is english and very helpful."

Overated never a 4* hotel
"Myself and husband have just come back from a week at this hotel which although was clean and situated in the most beautiful location it didnt match the write up in the "jewel in the crown" brochure. Yes the transfer from the airport is long but you know about that before you book, on arrival we were given a room on the 6th floor which we walked in and quickly walked out of again. The furniture in the room was very worn to say the least and the 2 pieces of cloth at the window (couldnt call them curtains) didnt meet leaving a big gap for the sun to come streaming through and wake me up at stupid o clock. The staff on the desk were reluctant but finally agreed to move us as we were all tired at 1am. The hot water was only available at certain times, they must have thought we were stupid sending a man with a wrench in his hand to fix the hot water after they had switched it on following my constant complaining. I didnt like the idea of the hot food being in a seperate building to the rest of the buffet food, especially as it rained on our last night and waiters had to stand with brollies to stop your food getting wet running between buildings. Wouldnt stay at this hotel again but will return to Turunc at some time in the future as the area and the people are really friendly. Bev/Steve Shepherd Manchester"

All Round Excellent Holiday
"Me and my boyfriend (aged 27 and 31) loved this place!
Booked through Teletext 2 weeks before and got it for £275pp (£40 which was tranfers pp).
Was totally prepared for a "you get what you pay for holiday" however this place was great! The only thing was that the older rooms are a bit basic but really clean, nightlife wasn't up to much but we were looking for a relaxing holiday anyway.
The place is getting done up at the moment and when finished will be a 5* hotel.
Staff and food were great.
My parents have booked to go in Sept."

trouble at turunc
"me and my boyfriend went to otel turunc for two weeks in may we had a lot of trouble at the otel turunc starting from when we first arrived ther after the four hour coach journey when the driver dicided to stop off after two hours for a four course dinner when we waited in the heat for them to finish. When we finally arived at are destination we where greeted by none speaking english receptionists at a five star hotel , it took me 2 days to try an explain what a plug was so i could buy one to dry my hair, well that was another storey. We got took to are room which i have to admit it was lovely !! In are block ther was mainly germans, russians and the dutch are room was next to a dutch couple with children an me and my partner are both in are twenties and liked a drink well the bar shut at 12 ov a night which was fine because we went to bed ,it was a long day after bein in the sun all day , we couldnt put the t.v on or talk on way to r room or even flush the toilet without getting a complaint from this dutch couple in the next room which wasnt fair if you have children you should be put in a diferent block because it is a holiday that caters for everyone not just family couples that want to go to bed early it got to a point wher we got told by the rep that we had to move rooms well i was really angry then why should we have to move we are not the one's with the problem i said ! They tried to put us in this block wher the waiters stay ha (i dnt think so! ) personally i think they wanted that room for the germans or the dutch they semm to hav come first there and they dnt wait in ques like us english people they jus push right to the front !"

"Our family of two adults and two children (aged 16 and 2) went for two weeks in June 2007. Although it is a long transfer between the airport and hotel (2 hours), we found the full holiday one of the best we've been on. Beautiful location, gorgeous food, lovely waiters (once they found out we were english!), and fantastic room. We did get this 'fantastic' room after looking at three others first though. We found all aspects of the whole holiday absolutely great and would definitely go again. The small village of Turunc is lively and friendly and the food places are great for a snack, chinese etc. We only booked one trip, due to the intense heat (had a heatwave during our stay), and my son and husband enjoyed the diving 110%. I honestly could not fault this hotel, location and food. The only downside was during the second week. Yes it was full of russians and germans, and yes they are very rude and we didn't enjoy the second week as much as the first. I think that it was a pleasant change for the staff to see such happy english people there and once they knew you were english it got better. The families we met were of the same opinion as us about the whole holiday. DEF recommended to anyone of any age, but just check when the russians and germans have their holidays there."

"Myself and my partner both in our mid twenties booked two weeks at this hotel mid september 2007 through an intenet provider hoping for a relaxed, non-clubby hotel.
On arrival at Dalaman airport at about 4am after a 4 hour flight we paid out £10 visa and went to find our transfer from the airport to the hotel. This was a bit hit and miss as there was a single male holding a list of peoples names mingled in with about 10 other people who you could not tell which were tourist and which were taxi drivers.
The transfer in a small mini bus took about 2.5 hours and although it was night it was still warm and after little sleep on the plane I felt
very sick after all the twists and turns to the resort as you have to travel up and down some very steep hillside.
On arrival at the hotel we were taken to the reception desk where at about 7am after having been travelling for nearly 12 hours all i wanted to do was go to bed.
The reception staff were not overly friendly and im sure they didnt really understand us very well.
We were taken to our room which I didnt pay much attention to until the next day as I was shattered but although I was exhausted the noise
of toilets being flushed kept me awake and it sounded like we were staying under a water fall as we were on the ground floor.
After a few hours sleep we were ready to explore. We found that we had been located in the worst part of the hotel on the ground floor opposite the laundry room - no view apart from of the cleaners, however you dont go on holiday to stay in you room all day so this was fine. The room was basic but had working air con which we had on contantly and a tv but the only english channel was sky new but this was fine.
There were cockroaches out on the pathway but never in the room unless
you left the door open - but then this provided great entertainment for me when my partner got scared in the middle of the night when one landed on the bed.
Our neighbours along this row of apartments were mostly english and after finding that there were only about 10 english at the hotel in amongst the russians and germans, that we had all ended up in the same
block - coincedence, I think not!
There were some rooms with great views, however i think these must be reserved for the other nationalities.
Being pushed out of queues for drinks was a regular occurance by the russians and germans as was having most of the sun beds reserved for most of the day with the odd towel and pair of sunglasses here and there, despite signs up all over the place saying this was not allowed.
There is a private beach which often had more spare sun beds and there
is a tunnel through the rock face to the sea where we went snorkelling
along the rock line.
During the day we made the most of the all inclusive drinks - mostly the soft drinks rather than alcoholic and throughout the day there are
snack bars providing fresh pizza (not quite pizza hut quality) and garlic bread.
All the other staff we had contact with were friendly and helpful although we never really asked for anything other than drinks at the bar.
The temperature was near enough 40 degrees and sunny everyday and was just about bearable as long as you didnt want to do anything too energetic like join in the aerobics class or darts tournament.
Meal times were enjoyable as long as you get into the habit of getting
to the 2 resteraunts early enough to suss out what you fancied to eat and then quickly got to the front of the que or else you had to wait for a quite a while due to all the non- english could organise themselves infront of you in the queue.
Generally there was a wide range of foods available which you could vary each day - the home made soup was nice and I know people always slag off the foods available but yes although the food wasnt greatly varied day by day it was usually well cooked, warm and widely available - there was the odd occasion of meat being slightly undercooked so do check especially with the chicken.
The pools were clean but freezing cold although it was very hot weather. The rooms were cleaned daily and the whole resort was well kept and tidy with lovely plants and foliage all around. The whole resort and village are very pretty and we saw some beautiful scenery.
At night there was a daily show at the ampitheatre where an all singing all dancing cast put on entertainments. We only attended one show whereby I managed to seek revenge on a russian and throw a water bomb at them that we were handed to throw at the cast - oh the satisfaction - easy, fun and entertaining to watch.
All other nights we walked the 5 minute walk into the town centre where there are a few bars, resteraunts and shops. The locals were friendly and talkative and seemed genuinely interested in you. Our favourite bar was bar 48 with the manager Ramsey who was very friendly
and loved the tourists. He played most of the english football on his tv and had a pool table which kept us busy.
The chinese bar at the start of the village was also a regular stop for us and the staff were very friendly.
Along the walkway out into the village are a large number of boats mostly used for day trips. We went on two trips each round different bays were you stopped regually and could swim in the lagoons which was
brilliant and also very cheap and you get a meal included in the price.
I would love to return to Turunc and actually wouldnt mind staying at the Turunc hotel although I would request a room with a view however when your barely concious on arrival its difficult to remember your name never mind anything else. The transfer is long as well so not sure how well this would go down with children."

"Spent a week at this hotel. Contrary to the statement below, we had to fight for sunbeds every day. The Germans were the worse culprits, bagging beds to keep their books, hats and sun lotions on. The hotel state they will not allow this to go on but it did on a grand scale.
Long transfer from Dalaman airport, about 2.5 hours, so get plenty of drinking water! When we arrived about 1am, we had a light snack supplied by the hotel which we really appreciated.
Our rooms were very clean and comfortable with air con. TV with sky but only English channel available was sky news. Mini bar in room with 2 small bottles of fizzy water and no bottle opener. We had to take two lifts to our rooms as they were quite far from main reception and on most days, one or the other would be broken down. Very frustrating!
Onto the food and drink. Huge selection of food available, caters for all tastes though could be a bit bland at times. We ate out a few times in the nearby village of Turunc. The hotel describes the alcohol drinks as "local". The beer had what seemed no alchol in it as did any other drink. The red wine was like drinking vinegar. We felt we had been conned by this to an extent. Plenty of fizzy drinks available though so we stuck to that instead.
Plenty of watersports available at a cost. Regular transport from turunc to Marmaris by bus or boat. £5 for return trip on boat which was very enjoyable.
Evening entertainment wasn't up to much so we found ourselves in the village most nights and had some good times especially in the M48 bar.
On the whole, a nice hotel with friendly enough staff and you could do worse."

"Having just returned from a fortnights stay at the Turunc hotel we can honestly say that we would recommend the hotel to anyone. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was outstanding, very varied, beautifully presented and plenty of it. The hotel itself is set in a lovely position with its own beach, sunbeds and watersports, (motorised sunsports cost extra). The small town of Turunc is only a few minutes walk from the hotel and is pretty and very peaceful (no noisy all night disco bars). The people are very friendly and you dont get hassled. If you like that type of thing there are regular boat taxis to Icmeler and Marmaris, half hour and hour respectively. For families there is plenty entertainment at the hotel and also amenities such as main large pool, childrens pool and a medium sized pool where older children are entertained by the hotels entertainment staff who organise various games daily. The only problem some people may have are the guests are mainly Russian and German and their manners are sometimes wanting especially when it comes to queuing for drinks etc. All in the hotel was a joy to stay at."

nice place...if you can ignore the mediocre service
"Great Location! Lovely village with good prices. Beautiful sea and weather all June. Plenty of the free sun-beds on the beach. Pools and Aqua-park not bad. Food delicious at evening, but lack of variety for lunch (should admit that lunch lasting only 1 hour for all the visitors at once, which causing great pandemonium and queues). Rooms are fine. We lived in the family room building #5, next to the Aqua-park. I recommend it as well as #4 for families with children- very peaceful and quite. Good service at the barber shop and spa, nice people and pricing.
It all could be nice, if you can ignore the specifics of other service. We saw managers who yell at stuff, which is dieing to sleep. We've been served Cold wash with coffee powder instead of Turkish coffee. We've been insistently drove out of the tables at the bar and told to eat ONLY at the restaurant, even though there were not free table at the restaurant. The beach was cleaned very bad and we had to lie near the garbage brought by sea in the second half of the day. And finely there was a small earthquake, and we've been told by locals that it is very usual...
Still, all children liked the place and were happy.
New this year: they got the beach towels system and free safes at rooms (though many visitors could not open their safe because of bad battery). "

" Just returned from Turunc with my 20 year old daughter... to sum up the holiday rooms were nice cleaning staff spot on.. a good choice of food for what we paid so good value for money... downfalls not impressed with the entertainment we had bad weather for 5 days which cant be help but felt all we could do was sit in out hotel rooms crawling up the walls... even when it rained you could only drink in doors at meals times then the lights went out... no indoor bar area at all... could not even get tipsy on the drink at all so tells you that it watered down to the hilt ... bar staff seemed to be more interested in my 20 year old daughter.. so i felt i had to be around her at all times... so average holiday entertainment needs more attention ... for those days you cant chill in the sun.... glad to be back home .."
