Pegasos World Hotel
35 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
Very good for Families with Children
"We stayed at Pegagsos world for 2 weeks commencing 19th May. We travelled as a party of 6, My husband and 2 children aged 12 & 8 and my Parents. On arrival we had a very nice bell boy take the luggage to our room (waited for tip), and were then taken to the dining room for some food as we didnt check into until 11.30pm. The Horoscopia bar is open until 1.00am so we were able to sit and unwind with a nice glass of wine or 2. The alcohol was limited to Brandy, Vodka, Gin, Efes beer (my husband was delighted) and Raki on the all inclusive. You could by other spirits including a list of very good cocktails. Soft drinks were all branded names, Pepsi, sprite tango etc including juices (freshly squeezed orange juice cost 2 euro's).
Our room was in block 3 on the ground floor. We were greeted with a strong sewerage smell but when we ran the taps and flushed the chain to the toilet the smell went away. The adults room had 2 single beds pushed together with a television and french doors. The childrens room had 2 single beds and no television. Very comfortable beds with duvets (quite thin, but comfortable), one single pillow with a cushion. The rooms were decorated well with plenty of cupboard space for 4 people. The bathroom consisted of a very powerful shower, toilet and sink. I did miss not having a bath ( as ladies do) but it wasnt a problem. Make sure you have a shower before 6.00pm as the hot water runs out around this time and you will end up having a lukewarm shower!
Breakfast was very good, freshly cooked pancakes and omelettes were made in front of you ( my children loved the pancakes with plenty of chocolate sauce for topping) Wide variety of cereals, fresh bread with different jams and marmalades, boiled, fried and scrambled eggs, cold meats and pasta dishes with salad. Fruit consited of apples, watermelon and oranges mainly.Dont expect any Pork (bacon) as they are all muslims.
The pool was beautiful, very clean and always managed to get our spot every morning. We sat by the path to the beach, near the toilets, ice cream and bar. The only negative to this was we were near the speaker, every time the had theanimation team activities the speakers were very loud for half an hour or so. They did play music on and off most of the day, sometimes it got too much but only for a short while. We did mention this to the customer liason team who said they would deal with it for us, but we did choose to sit there every day.
The pools were cleaned everyday and never had a problem with litter or spillages around the sunbeds. The cleaners and waiters were constantly emptying bins and ashtrays and collecting plates and glasses. The tiles do get very hot, and are very slippy when wet, constantly having to remind my children to walk and not run but they never slipped once.
The snack bars were very good, there a 4 in total, one by the childrens pool, one at the middle bar and 2 on the beach. You could also go into the main restaraunt for lunch, I thought you would have to be dressed to do this but many people were going in there in just bikinis and shorts!!! (there is no dress code at any sitting) We tended to eat from the beack snack bars, they made fresh turkish bread there daily. You could have pizza, burgers, kebabs, chips, salad and fruit.
The beach was nice although very pebbly near the shore and when you went into the sea the was a steep decline making it unsafe for children. There was a slight under current but not too strong. There is also watersports, very reasonably priced, Banana boat 5 euro's per person, Paragliding 40 euro's, doughnut 10 euros plus many others including surfing and pedlo's.
The evening meal was very varied, we did begin to sit outside but found this quite busy so had chosen to sit inside for the remainder of the holiday. There was always plenty to eat, some nights better than others, fresh food cooked in front of you outside was always popular so had to queue but not too long. We did find some of the food ran out quickly and was sometimes cold, but again mentioned this to the liason team and was addressed immediately. The tables were cleared and cleaned quickly, never had or witnessed a problem with food on the floor or table left for days! My children lived on something with chips and never went hungry. They are quite fussy though. We were introduced to the owner of the hotel who had asked our opinion of this hotel regarding food, we said it would be nice to have more choice for English children and for it to be segregated for ease of finding it. Apart from that the food is always fresh and cooked well, my mum is vegetarian, Im a big meat eater and my children are fussy. We never had any problems finding a meal. I came back from here definately a few pounds heavier!
The location of the hotel is quite remote but if you walk out the front of the hotel and right and follow the road round, a good 15 minutes walk, you will find a parade of shops selling the usual fakes and tac. If you want to book a day trip then go and see the guys at Pasha just before the clock tower (Thomson are double this price). We took a trip to Greenlake and it was excellent. 25 Euros for adults and free for children under 11. This included a meal in the restaraunt in greenlake where you could fish whilst you meal was prepared, a stop at the waterfalls and a look inside a traditional mosque. Will definately recommend them to everyone. They pick you up and drop you off outside the hotel. There is also a chemist there which you can get most prescription drugs over the counter. My daughter has sensitive skin so have to buy a special cream for when she has been in the pool, £9 in England £1.50 in Turkey. You can also get antibitics antihistamines eardrops and most other non urgent drugs at very reasonable prices. Dont call the Dr unless really needed, the pharmacist can give you what you need without a prescription. £90 before your even diagnosed!
All in all we had a very good holiday, cant fault the hotel apart from maybe being too big, holds 3000 people when full! (wouldnt want to come in the height of summer) The hotel did start to get very bust towards the end of our stay, but still not a problem. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming, the hotel is very clean, the food is of good quality and varied, any problems were quickly dealt with by the customer liason team, Our Rep Marion was very friendly and helpful. I will definately be recommending this hotel to friends and family and would definately go there again. Please ignore any bad reviews as they might not be what they seem, This is one of the best hotels for the price at 4* we have stayed in. We stayed 5* in Belek last year and would say this is definatly better out of the 2. I will be putting pics on here soon, just need to sift through the 450 that was taken!"

good family holiday
"Just returned from a week at this hotel, had a good holiday despite earlier reviews.
They cater for everybodys taste. "why do Brits want the taste of home when abroad". Also Turkey is a Muslim country so yes! no bacon! Good entertainment team (Kiki we love you!) they tried their best and were even good at being awful, some of the time. The Brits are new this year and we felt that on the whole they welcomed us. Only two things that bugged us, one the old sunbeds at dawn scenario and two why did we have to endure the Charge of the Light Brigade when the restaurant doors opened at 7pm for dinner. You know who you are! Frau and Fraulian!!!"

very busy and noisy hotel
"We stayed for 14 nights. The hotel itself is very impressive. It has a massive pool which is brilliant. There are rock formations within the pool which have water falls and bridges to the pool bars and drinks machines. There is always something to eat and the restaurant is very good although this seemed to be mainly salad things and alot of chicken and turkey. The animation team were very good and the shows are very impressive.
On the negative side be prepared to get up at 7a.m. to get a sunbed. There are not enough sunbeds to go round everyone and this includes the beach. The beach is OK but it is not easy to get in the sea because of the pebbles etc. There is music playing out all day which can get annoying."

FOOD - you could always find something to eat it was the first time 3 weeks ago for british people to go there by the end of my week food was getting better.

what else can i say about this holiday is that i would go again for what we paid for this holiday it was the best by far , i read trip advisor before i went ready all the negatives but now i will not listen to any of them cos this hotel was just BRILLIANT if you what a quite holiday go here"

Dirty and dangerous
"Just returned from our 2 week stay at PW. First impressions of the hotel were good, but this soon changed!
The rooms were a fantastic size, with a separate room for the children, unfortunately the cleaning of them was not at a good standard and we were only given water every now and then and were never given the right amount of towels for the number of people in the room! The bathroom needs a bit of updating, which I think they have tried to do, but badly!!
The pool was fantasic, an excellent size with a shallow area for the children, however if you wanted to sit at this area you had to be up very early to get a spot, towards the end of our holiday (half term week) we were going down at 6am. This was because the rest of the pool was very deep and as we had very young children we felt it was not safe to sit there. The actual children's pool was good with a few slides, but the area was under cover, so if the adults wanted sun you wouldn't get much here. Plus the slide in the middle of the pool was very slippery and there were many accidents on this.
The variety of the food was very good, always something different and lots of choices, the only complaint here is that it was always cold! Dining area was very big, always found a table, lots of high chairs, but evening it was hard to always get one. There was a microwave in this area for people to heat up baby food and milk and half way through our holiday, they decided to move the children's eating area out of the dining room and also move the microwave. However so many people complained that the microwave was moved it was soon put back in this area.
However I did find this hotel very dirty. The rooms were not cleaned to a high standard, the pool area was very dirty. The tiles were never cleaned and spilt drinks, food and ice cream would remain in the same place for days. In our first week, no one ever cleaned up either and the next day at the pool we would find dirty nappies, lolly sticks, plates etc still round the pool area. We did complain about this and some workers did start walking round and picking up rubbish. One day a child had done a poo in the pool and it took staff over 20 minutes to come and take it out. Once they had done this they didn't clean the pool or the area and the children carried on swimming in the pool. The dining room floor was also very dirty, we sat at the same table for the first week and there were the same chips on the floor under a chair for more than 3 days! Other areas in the dining room were the same and what they had swept up they had just pushed into a corner!
I also found there were a lot of safety issues at this hotel. The tiles around the pool are very slippery. There are many holes in the swimming pool, dining room etc, that need a plastic cover on. The lift had a hole where the button should be and a lady went to push the button and her finger went straight through the hole and she cut her tendon and ended up having an operation on her finger. A man slipped over and ended up with a broken nose and 30 stitches in his leg. Another women fell and had stiches in her head. The hotel is very dark and needs a lot more light.
If the cleanliness and the safety issues were sorted at this hotel, this would be a great hotel. However, there are a lot of children at this hotel, so if you want a quiet break, I wouldn't reccomend. We have been to Turkey 10 times and I have never seen so many children at a hotel!!! And I have never been to one that has been so dirty and dangerous.
One thing the hotel did do, was that whenever any one complained they sorted it out best they could straight away."

"this hotel is very nice, clean and friendly we have just had a week there from 12th to 19th
may the rooms are like what others say very big and nice
the food was very poor for the first few days then l think all the brittish people had a word with the rep and the food just got better and better or we where just getting used to it
being just only a small amount of brittish there the hotel were trying there best to please us .so all in all the hotel was great.
IF YOU DID NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH BIRDS THEY WHERE EVERY WERE .LANDING ON TABLES WHEN PEOPLE WERE EATING OUTSIDE. SO YOU WOULD SAY EAT IN SIDE THEN THEY HAD ALL THE DOORS OPEN SO THEY WERE EVEN FLYING AND LANDING ON TABLES INSIDE SOME PEOPLE WERE FEEDING THEM SO IT WAS HEVEN FOR THE BIRDS l found this very hard to cope with and feel it spolt my hoilday as l could only relax at night when l new they would not be about
SO IF YOU HAVE A PHOPIA OF BIRDS DO NOT GO TO THE PEGASOS WOLD SIDE
IF NOT THIS IS A GREAT HOTEL ."

"I was a little apprehensive about this hotel as I struggled to find any british reviews but wow was so relieved and pleased when we arrived!!!
Rooms: Family room was very big, 2 single beds in large room and two more single beds in adjoining room. cleaned daily and fresh towels daily also! Safety deposits safes were free of charge, which was a welcome change! small fridge in room also which were 2 bottles of water daily.
Food: huge selection and like others have said no standing around waiting. Food was available more or less all day from different sections of the hotel so you def wont go hungry! Turkish lager was very nice to!!!
Pools: absolutly amazing, had no trouble getting a sunbed although it was begining of season, the pools are sectioned of into prob four or five different parts, water slides for kids are fab, although we didnt have young children the small pool for young kids with smaller slides and climbing frames looked fab, the special kids area looked fun to!! they even have their own snack bar and toilet area!!! Towels are available daily for beach and pool which means you dont have to worry about how much your case weighs coming out!
Bought a lilo from the hotel shop and it was 22 euros!!! shocking as when we got it to pool there was sand in it which made me beleive it had prob been used before!!!
Staff are fantastic, very polite and very helpful. ran very smoothly and any problems you may have get sorted straight away (our safe was locked on the first day, i asked reception to open it and they came straight away).
Will definatley be going back but can imagine as its so huge its quite overcrowded in peak season??
If you are taking kids of any age to this hotel they will have a fantastic time!!!!"

Pegasos World May 09 - The Brits arrive
Just returned (16 May ) from 7 days at PW. My wife and I are in our mid fifties and still young at heart. Like many others we were looking for a cheap holiday outside the Euro zone. Funnily enough the little money we actually spend was Euros.
It will be interesting to read all the reports as they emerge but this is ours:
PROS Hotel is beautiful. Public areas are very grand, spacious and immaculately clean. Rooms are superb. Our master bedroom had a 6ft wide double bed with two additional single beds in the adjoining room. Duvets are used - no top sheets.
Externally the grounds, pools, general eating areas cannot be faulted. For those of you who have been to Florida it is just like being at Typhoon Lagoon.
Food and drink is plentiful with very little queueing if at all.
Lunchtime fast food of burgers, pizza, chips, salad etc is good
(main restaurant is also open offering a menu similar to the evening menu.- see below for quality). Afternoon cake time is also good.
The adjacent beach is spacious, clean, sandy with lots of loungers with plenty of shade. Very little pebbles.
Daytime entertainment is varied and well organised.
When we visited the hotel was 50% full but we were told that the following week it would be full to capacity.
Food is probably no better than OK. As they have not up till now catered for the British, they have not yet realised our need for beans, bacon and toast at breakfast! Lunchtime and evening fare is very similar and hardly changes throughout the week, just with a couple of slight alterations per day . As always abroad the food is never hot enough but this did seem worse than normal.
Speaking to other Brits, everyone thought it was let down by the food. However the sweets were plentiful and varied.
It does resemble a school canteen at times and we preferred to eat either early or late to miss the crowds.
Whilst there was just enough sunbeds to go round as always there seemed to be a lot reserved and not in use. I do not know how they will cope at peak capacity. Music is played almost constantly around the pool which can be annoying to some (an age thing!)
The air conditioning is centrally controlled by the hotel and is switched on when they think it is warranted. The accommodation blocks are 3 storeys high and whilst those on the ground floor were apparently complaining of the cold, those on the top floor like us, were sweltering and having to sleep all night uncovered with the patio doors wide open.
The hotel is situated in a very quiet area with little passing traffic except for the frequent public transport (only 1 euro to Side or Managavat). However this means there is nowhere to walk to.
Evening entertainment is a show at 9.00pm every night and is performed by the animation team. This ranges from quite good to dire. Do not expect any professional entertainment.
I hope this changes throughout the season as this is urgently required. After the show "entertainment " continues in the main hotel with music/dancing on the small dance floor.
Due to lack of previous British tourists, the resort as a whole is geared to the Germans. Many handouts by local tour operators are entirely in German. We hired a car through the Thomson hotel rep and the Europcar hire salesman arrived and was unable to speak English! ( I accept we are just as bad as we cannot speak German but you know what I mean)
This is a great hotel for children but this does mean there will be hundreds. Whilst we were there the vast majority were pre-school and cute. I would not like to be there during the school summer holidays.
All in all a great hotel for familes who will probably love it.
I hope this has been of interest."

"Second time at this location and would go again. We had two week in June and had a lovely time. We were met on arrival by Hande (guest relations) a really lovely girl who made us feel very welcome and was very helpful throughout our holiday. She always met us with a big smile. We hope her studies are going very well. All the staff were very helpfull abd cheerful. A big thanks to Nuri and his team for keeping us well fed and watered. Nuri was alway at hand in the restaurant and around the pool area to help with any issues not that we had many.
The complex although large had a relaxing atmosphere and the pool was never crowded. The rooms and surrounding areas were kept clean and tidy. The entertainment team put on some good shows in the evenings and made people welcome around the pool. Over all a very enjoy holiday and we would recomend this to our friends.
We would like to take this oportunity to thank Hande,Nuri, George and Ishmail for making our holiday on to remember.
From Ian & Helen McIntosh"
