"What a dump, electric cables - all live hanging out of the cupboards. The pool had so much chlorine in it it made your eyes water and that was just sitting near the pool. The reps were RUBBISH, the bar staff would help themselves to your cigarettes if you didn't put them back in your pocket and everything was expensive on site. Dirty hallways, dirty apartments and dirty building all in all. Staff were friendly but useless, came down to the pool to find that bar staff from the night before asleep on the loungers. The pool slide was run as and when staff decided and the water got turned off willy nilly and without any notice so the kids would try and come down and not realise and hurt themselves without the running water on the slide. We picked the holiday on the brochure HAHAHAHAHA - Quiet, friendly and clean! NO NO AND NO! On the main road into Marmaris, 24 hour music bar at the pool - No pool views from the balcony as all balconies face front or back and pool is at the side. Breakfasts were nice though so 1 point. AVOID"

"Ma and my mam had planned a holiday to turkey this was my first visit. We arrived during the early hours of the day and was not impressed as soon as we had arrived at the hotel there was a very foistie smell coming from the carpets we booked in and then shown to our rooms there was no light in the passage. The room was ok. We were placed above the bar. Then the next night it started young people drinking all day then continuing through till 5-6 the next morning we were unable to get any sleep complained to the manager of the hotel and his words were you go and tell them to be quiet. So it took us 5 days to moved to a different room the staff werenât very friendly Iâm afraid we wonât ever be going back to this hotel and wouldnât advise people who have young children not to go here."

"Just back from a family holiday in turkey and having read the reviews on this page before leaving we were very pleasantly surprised! The hotel has recently been taken over by new management and is spotless. Maid service everyday with clean towels and bed linen. The restaurant is mopped 4 times a day as is reception games room etc (always someone cleaning!) The pool was also treated every night. Admittedly we thought rooms a bit on the small side at first but my two sisters and I lived comfortably there for two weeks. The staff were very friendly and helpful telling us to get the number 2 bus into Marmaris (5mins away) where there is ample bars restaurants and fantastic shopping (had to buy 2 extra hold alls coming home). Entertainment all day by pool and bingo every night followed by varied entertainment (karaoke, 80's night, break dancers etc) Breakfast lunch afternoon snack tea and midnight soup ensured we saved a fortune and were never hungry. We ate dinner out the last few nights for a change but the food in the hotel was dead on. It may not be the Ritz but has all the necessities for a great family holiday!"

"What a fantastic place turkey is. It has the friendly people, the not to pushy tradesmen, shopping, culture and the sun, sea and sand. The Turkish are delight, friendly, welcoming, and hospitable, we have come back impressed that after a whole season our first names where still remember by the people we met in May. The hotel was clean, if a wee bit basic however the staff were excellent. And I wish we had dolmus (little buses that are very cheap) here. The only downside is that Goldtrail as an operator are not particularly good, as we saw when others had problems, however when alls going smooth why worry. We would thoroughly recommend turkey to everyone and fully intend to be back in September, in fact its booked. "

"We arrived at 06.30am and they didn't have a room for us! Put us up in the attic (double bed for 2 single girls no less)! no fridge, no kettle and we were supposed to be Self Catering. They told us they would have a room in the morning so at 09.00am we came down to ask for our room - expecting kitchen, living and separate sleeping area - that wasn't going to happen. We sat in the clothes we traveled in until late in the afternoon when the rep arrived - she said it would be best if we just used the room in the attic! Two Geordie lads said they didn't want to stay in the place at all and let us have their key otherwise we would have been waiting to be put into a room for another day or 2!! A Scottish couple had the last of their cash stolen from their room on their last day. The Rep just said "If you take this room it makes my job easier" - Cold showers after 7pm and they wouldn't heat the water up on request, we had a few power failures also with no explanation. First time in Turkey - and the last! This "hotel" is a shambles and is dirty both inside and out - we got dirty towels and torn bed linen and don't want to begin to imagine what was up the walls in our apartment and in the corridor - AVOID SARBA 5 at all cost! Wrote letter of complaint to GOLDTRAIL but no satisfaction with them either."

We decided to take our 2 year old daught...
"We decided to take our 2 year old daughter on her first holiday abroad, I had already been to the hotel before I had met my boyfriend and conceived my daughter so we decided to get a late deal and return. I was utterly shocked when the bus pulled up at the hotel to see what state the hotel had gotten in. As we came off the coach nobody greeted us at reception until about 20 minutes later, there were ashtrays full of cigarette ends and cigarette ends all over the floor. with respect we smoke around our daughter but put the ends away from where she can get to them. We was given our room (we requested pool view but we was given a room at the back of the hotel with no scenery at all) our room was on the top floor. We then discovered that the lift was not working so we decided to climb the stairs. on the first floor we had a nasty surprise of vomit all over where the stairs area was which made us feel utterly sick. We were having great difficulty to get the luggage up the stairs and to stop our daughter treading in it at the same time. We finally got to our room and opened the door as we turned the light on a cockroach came rushing out of the bathroom. We took this with a pinch of salt as everywhere abroad has cockroaches. The curtains were literally hanging off the curtain poles and the bed covers were stained. The cot that they had provided our daughter to sleep in was anything but stable so for the whole holiday she had to sleep between myself and my partner. The room was absolutely dreadful. The next morning we missed breakfast, We also were not greeted by a rep either who normally explain when breakfast is and certain trips. We decided to go beside the pool, their were no sunloungers left so we sat on the table and chairs whilst our daughter played in the pool. The pool was absolutely filthy. It was appalling for children to play in those sort of conditions. Other than that if you eat meals out and go out on day trips everyday I suppose this hotel will do. The staff were ignorant and we never seen a cleaner once. This hotels standards have changed drastically and I was very upset to take my daughter on her first holiday abroad and promise her a lovely time when it was completely the opposite. I also advise any women to be escorted by men as the Turkish men are not very trust worthy.. if you are planning a girls holiday i advise you to definitely re think your location. Also blonde haired girls with blue eyes take great care as they may want you to help with their bank accounts!!"

"My partner, Keith and I stayed at Club Sarba (formerly Sarba 6) June - July 2004 for two weeks. Initially we were concerned as we had read terrible reviews about this place. On arrival at two in the morning, we found the bar still open. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The hotel we found to be basic and very clean. The pool is small but adequate. Definitely not suitable for those with a tribe of kids with inflatables! Turkish all inclusive is not the same as European. You will get Turkish food - as you would expect if you go to Turkey. If you want fish and chips, or bacon and eggs, go to Blackpool, then you will know what a bad hotel really is! Also, you cannot stuff your face all day long. Meals are served at set times. If you are late - go without! Notices are displayed clearly stating the times that drinks are free and when they should be paid for. Some guests pretended they didn't understand this and caused a fuss. The guests were often rude when told that drinks were to be paid for after 11pm. The staff handled this well and without incident. There was a free Dolmus every day from the hotel to another beach named "Golden Beach", in Icmeler, with a pick up in the evening. You have to pay for the sunbeds when you get there. The food and drinks are not free there. We found all the staff at Club Sarba excellent. From receptionist to cleaning staff. The customer service team that year were very hard working and made us really welcome, they even showed us the nightlife. For what we paid, we had an excellent holiday and would go back for a cheap holiday. The maitre "D", bar and restraint staff, chefs, receptionist and resident pool disc jockey were good fun and helped make our holiday one to remember. "

"Just arrived back from an excellent value holiday with Goldtrail. The tickets arrived well in time smooth on time flight and well met by a smiling Goldtrail Rep. Nice bus and transfer to Sarba. Apartment clean fresh linen friendly staff quaint bar clean swimming pool. Obviously it could do with a facelift new carpet and coat of paint but hey I wasnât paying to stay in Mayfair. I also thought Lisa our daily rep was excellent always there and capable of sorting out all issues. We had considered going to Centre Parcs UK the cost for 5 days was nearly £900 the complete cost for my 7 day Goldtrail holiday was £524. I went with my wife and 2 daughters and thought the constant hassling and really rude comments (to the girls) did the 90% of nice Turkish people no favours at all. Also a few traders became very short tempered and highly insulting bordering on violent if you refused to buy there wears or out haggled them. If anyone is interested I will give you a shop that is definitely worth missing for £10 and a restaurant that offers great value and real Turkish food. I would suggest girls should always be accompanied by male escorts. "

"After just getting back from Sarba 5 with my wife and 2 children, I would love to be going straight back out there. We had a great holiday and the staff were really friendly. Donât get me wrong this is not a 5* hotel, so if you want this your better go somewhere else. I have always said a holiday is what you make it. I was a bit worried at the comments I read before going. Donât worry to much we all had a great time. The rooms were quite large, had fridge. What more do you want on self catering. we donât eat in the rooms, I like someone else to cook for me when I'm on holiday. Top bar staff. "

"I stayed in Sarba 5 apartments about two weeks ago in late August. When I first arrived (at night) the hotel didnât look good but donât worry its not as bad as it seems in the light of day. The rooms were very nice, really clean with fridge and air conditioning which for £21 for a week is a bargain because you will need it. The corridors were a little disappointing, they were a bit dirty and the carpets really need stripping out and replacing. The pool was really nice, very clean, with a water slide for children. The pool staff are great as they are really friendly and entertain all day. They also cater to your every need. The food was ok cooked well and very reasonable in price. The main thing that did annoy me however was because there seems to be flights arriving in Marmaris every day so their is always people arriving every night and the banging of doors echoes around the whole hotel and can keep you awake. However the hotel really does offer value for money and is very near to the beach and shops about a 8 minute bus ride which only costs 30p each way. If your looking for a cheap getaway then Sarba 5 would be suited to you. Its not luxury but is more than adequate. "
