"From the moment we arrived and explored the area we realised we arrived in paradise! The staff were utterly friendly and helpful, and could not do enough to please us. The food was exceptional, with a great selection of fresh salads, grilled meats and wow puddings 😍 Generally all facilities were excellent, including the SPA. Our accommodation was clean, spacious and peaceful with wonderful sea views. The hotel is located just 10 minutes bus ride from the main town Marmaris, but away from all the noise. It was very green around us, with lots of trees and birds, perfect for walking. The management were very kind, making every effort to please us. I mentioned about the lack of shower matt, but I was reassured that they are coming from Germany and Utku, the costumer relations manager told me they will be provided very soon. We left with great sadness, and cannot wait to go back next year! We strongly recommend this hotel."

Must go what a fantasic place all round great holiday
"My sister and nephew who is 15 and myself have just came home early hours of the morning. We were all gutted to leave this hotel resort is great it has everything u need the food is great there are a couple of restaurants u need to book in to but we didn't there is food and drink all day everywhere u look. My nephew and myself went and swam with the dolphins oh my what an experience. The staff that we meet were lovely we had a few favioutes the rooms are good the only problem I found were the shower one min hot then cold. You do not need to leave the resort it has everything u need we only left and went toarmaris town twice just to get little bits for gifts. We also done a boat trip that was amazing. We have said we are thinking of going back again maybe middle of September. The security is fantastic you can not get though unless u have your band on no taxi can come though no buses no one unless u show your band. Very safe I would go there on my own with no worries"

"Just returned from mares and this was the best place yet after multiple visits to Turkey and Greek islands, also this was the best example of all inclusive we have ever had, some places charge extra for WI-FI, air conditioning, safe etc., but all was literally all inclusive here, we even had an unasked for room upgrade with no extra charge, the daily cleaning lady was a treasure even though we had difficulty in verbalizing we still managed to communicate and she fussed over us every time we met her, every member of staff was both extremely friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble, there was a vast array of different food dishes available from varied outlets to suite all tastes with a large variety of facilities on offer, and the grounds and views are spectacular, no complaints from us at all except although there are many areas to swim, the area directly at the hotels sea front does not have a sandy beach which disappointed us a little, however with just an acceptable walk away towards either Marmaris or ice miler there was good sandy beaches to be had."

"Went for a two week break, and ended up wishing we hadn't bothered. Due to the constant hasstle by the "staff". When you complain all they say is fill out a form with your room number "again" and it will be forwarded to management. In my opinion the views are the best part. The staff seem to think that you are just there to pay there wages. Give the hotel a wide berth and don't believe the hotel brochures.."

on arriving at the mares hotel, we were ...
"on arriving at the mares hotel, we were pleased with the overall look of the hotel. never judge a book by its cover, comes to mind. on checking in we were allocated a villa in the complex, even though we had booked a twin room in the hotel. when we pointed this out to the reception desk, we were left in limbo as three members of staff stood staring straight passed us, ignoring every attempt on our part to communicate. when they finally acknowledge us after twenty minutes, in a rude manner they told us to speak to our rep, as it was nothing to do with them. we decided to carry on back to our villa, and track down the rep at the earliest convenience. it was early morning so we decided to check out what was on the breakfast menu. again first look, seemed ok, until you find substandard cereals, mainly continental salad type dishes and grumby fruit. on the plus side, if you like omelete for a fortnight, your be in egg heaven. our party consisted of two adults and two teenagers, our room had a double bed and a bed resided in the kitchenette, so to say it was cramped, is an understatement. the following morning we got up to check out the pool. if you decide to stay at the mares, and want a lounger, id take a couple back to your room, as you have little or no chance of getting one. evening meal, fourteen nights of salty bland repeatative fodder, served with little or no communication never mind a smile. we managed to track down our rep half way through the second week, and i have to say, she was next to useless, stated she had trouble communicated with the hoteliers and staff herself. i will never travel with thomas cook again. if you venture into lively marmaris, check out natalies steak bar which is combined with alexandras, superb food great steaks, only make sure alexandra waiters serve you as they are more polite and efficient. marmaris is vast and extemely lively be prepared to be hounded to distraction by shop owners and restaurant owners. we personally enjoyed icmeler as it was quieter, and the locals were less in your face, check out the love boat, the majestic and for a cheap cold efes in a cold glass for three lira, go to local turkish run bar cickeli, great after a few hours toasting in forty degrees plus, no complaints on the weather front. thats all folks hope this helps with your holiday plans. p.s turkey is getting very expensive with the plumetting pound."

"have just returned from a weeks stay at the Mares hotel, the room was superb - massive bed, walk in wardrobe/storage and huge shower .The views from the balcony were breathtaking looking out over the sea and the mountains. Restaurant was also enchanting, it was lovely to eat looking out over such panaramic views and the food was good (not typically english). We stayed all inclusive but be aware that you cannot get anything to eat between 2.00pm and 7.00pm unless you pay for it. There is a Pizzarria restaurant which serves wonderful italian food but you have to pay and there is a cafe which serves delicious cakes, these you also have to pay for. Be sure to read the all inclusive terms before you start your holiday as we did not and got quite a hefty bill upon checking out because we ate in the Pizzaria in the afternoon and ate cake and coffee in the morning not realising we had to pay for these. Sunbathing facilities are excellent, there are 2 pools and the beach/jetties. You get a sunbed mattress and a towel free everyday, no need to pack beach towels. There are bars at all of these areas serving just drinks and icecreams (no food). The boat trips around the island are very good value only £10.00 each. Marmaris itself was too busy for us we didn't like the hassel everytime you walked past a shop and there are a lot of bars/clubs for the young ones. We prefered Iczmeleer, it was more relaxed and quite a few of the bars had shows on each night, all music has to stop at 12.00pm Turkish Law and the police patrol the streets to make sure it is enforced."

"This hotel advertises itself as a five star. Be warned. It is not. My wife, 3 year old daughter and I stayed here for a week in one of the "villas". The accomodation was that of a two star hotel! The room was very basic, smelled of block drains (which thankfully disappeared after a couple of days), had mould growing in the tacky bathroom and shower, was decorated with cheap broken furniture, paint peeling off the doors and dodgy electrics! (the air conditioning was good though.) We would have complained but we spent two days and nights away on a friends boat so only stayed there for 5 days. Another guest informed us that the "villas" nearer the pool were better (ours was one of the furthest away from the hotel). I don't know what the hotel rooms proper are like. The good points are ; Lovely location. Two nice pools, well kept gardens, helpful (if sometimes inept) staff, good range of facilities including wireless internet throughout the lobby. Great pizza bar. The (other) bad points are; Hotel in bad need of a makeover. Food is bland and poorly presented. There were often long queues for certain items (omlettes in the morning for example). Alcoholic drinks are pricey. Hotel was 70% full of Russians who have taken up the mantle from our German friends of over the top sunbed reservation (particularly on the beach terraces). They also tend to be loud, rude and winging folk. The 'entertainment' shows for both kids and adults alike were atrocious whilst we were there. Too bad to be even funny. However there was some reasonable live music in the restaurant on a few occasions. On the whole we had an enjoyable stay because we didn't spend much time in the room. If you are going to this hotel I would advise a hotel room and not one of the villas. If you do go for a villa, insist you have one close to the pool (as I'm told these have been refurbished). Good luck!"

This is a fab hotel!!
"Decided to go ahead and book our trip to stay at the Mares even though it was a bit above our initial budget (cost us £400 each for 1 week, half board, including transfers) because we didn't want to take any chances - just wanted to have a lovely holiday. I'm so glad we did book this hotel, it was so nice! Several locals asked us where we were staying throughout the week and when we said the Mares they said it was the best hotel in town - i believe them! I was well impressed when we came to the front of the hotel, the lobby area is lovely, the whole complex is really well kept. Our room was 3616 and it was really nice - the views were amazing! The hotel hasn't got a beach as such, it's got a cobbled walk along the waters edge which has sun-loungers on and there are wooden jetty's that go out into the sea with loungers on too. The pool is a good size and there is a separate kids pool - plenty of sun loungers for use, you don't have to pay for cushions or towels for them either. The food was great, we ate in every night - good choice and always seemed hot. There is a pizzeria on the complex too which is lovely, we ate there a couple of times as well as at the pub on site and had drinks in the sultan bar which has a brilliant atmosphere and good entertainment - at the end of the week i was amazed by how little we'd spent on drinks and additional food in the hotel!! i got bitten quite badly by mosquito's, there is a nurse on site at the hotel, she got a doctor to come out to me, it was all dealt with really quickly and there was no drama. The staff at the hotel were excellent, friendly and helpful at all times. You can walk into Marmaris from the hotel but to get to the main area it is quite far as it's practically by the sign that indicates you're entering Icmeler- take the Dolmus, it's cheap and there's no messing around. When returning the Dolmus will take you right to the end of the hotel drive too which is really convienient. Really liked Marmaris but Icmeler seemed a bit quiet when we were there - perhaps just because it was early in the season? Weather was great, above 30 degrees every day. Had a fab holiday, would definately go again!!"

Excellent Hotel with lots to do
"The Mares Hotel is a great place to stay if you are looking for comfort, good food, great views of the sea. The hotel offers both relaxation therapy i.e massages, facials. Or want to still keep in shape it has a free gym and there is a lively atmosphere in the evenings at the bar. The hotel has a very large outdoor pool for swimming or lounging on your deck chair together with pool side bar. There is another pool for kids with a hydroslide which is totally separate from the adults swimming area so doesn't interfere with those not wanting to be part of the family packages. The beach is perfect as it is for the hotel guests and offers all the activities you would want on holiday i.e jet skis, parasailing (all for a fee of course). There is changing rooms, toilets and showers at the beachfront together with free deck chairs and matresses together with a bar and restaurant down by the beach front. The hotel rooms and bathroom are a good size. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The hotel is a 15 min walk into town along the beachfront or you can catch a turkish bus for 1.50 (Lyriah). We stayed in the Mares Hotel for 4 nights and really enjoyed it."

Charge for this, Charge for that, reserved, prices overinflated
"We Spent two weeks at the Mares Hotel in Marmaris. I arrived SO impressed with the Facade - i thought THIS is going to be SO special. Indeed that is so i thought. Our room was a 'Villa' although we had been told that we had a Sea view - we could see it through the pine forest which covered the hillside. I was sligtly unimpressed with the room which desperately needed a refit ! The Gardeners worked like beavers all day clipping, pruning and sweeping. The Porters bussled around. The Reception staff were excellent !!! The Male Maids were VERY VERY friendly courteous. However, with all that in mind - with the exception of the Waitresses - the Waiters were curt, knew little English and spent a lot of their time running around after the Turkish residents. The Entertainment Staff - ok ! Kids love pushing them in the Pool. The Food on whole is ideal - In the buffet resteraunt - the food followed a one week rotation i.e - rolling - the second week we ate out ! The Camlik is a daytime restaurant - very nice food. The Beach Bar. The Staff there were rude - took an age to serve. The Service of all facilites around the coast - is poor ! The amenities are aged and are desperate. The Dolmus bus is a good method of travel ! IT stops at the Main Road ( 1.5 Turkish Lira per person !!!) The Taxis range in price and arent that expensive. Ichmeler is better if you are a Families at night ! GO to the Titanic there !! Fantastic !!! Marmaris is better during the day ! Ichmeler market is better - but prepare to haggle and go with £10 notes !!!! The Migros is a local cheap Supermarket - very very good !!! Would i go to the Mares again ? Yes - but for 1 week !!!"

"Mares hotel- A five star hotel providing everything I needed in order to enjoy my holiday including a hairdressers, clothes shop, not to mention the Turkish baths and a gym. The hospitality was second to none and the entertainment provided meant that you didnât even need to leave the complex. The nightlife in Marmaris itself was brilliant with a lot of offers on free drinks if you promised to stay in their bar. During the day you can roam the Turkish markets although some of the sellers could be a little pushy and be careful to check your currency rates as if they think you donât know they may try and con you. There are plenty of day trips as well including the well known turtle beach. All in all a great holiday."

loved this hotel
"I have stayed at the Mares Hotel many times. It is not the newest hotel in Marmaris, but it is the best. The Pine Tree Pub, located just off the beach is wonderful for lunch, and the musical entertainment in The Sultan Bar is the best in Turkey. While the hotel might do with refurbishing, it is still the standard that I compare all other hotels to in Turkey. For the money, it is the most enjoyable vacation destination in Marmaris."
