"when we first arrived at the balci we were a little dissapointed by the rooms, there is hardly any room and the bathrooms are tiny. i had trouble in the shower even though im a size 10!
the pool area is fantastic although alot of people took up sunloungers with their towels then went off for the day in marmaris so you had to wait around for a sunlounger to become free.
the waiters were very friendly to us and ensured we had a great stay there. they talked to us everytime we passed (well the ones who could speak english) and didnt hassle us into buying from their restaraunt. if you told them you were going sumwhere else they just said have a nice time.
the hotel is not far from the beach and also quite close to clubs and bars so is ideal for younger people. if you want to go into marmaris town it is only a five minute bus ride down the road.
i did not really enjoy the food here, it was really dry, but there is a bar down the road (elvis bar) which serve excellent meals and a pint of draft beer is only 60p!
overall i had a fab holiday, would definately go there again!"

the bst hotel by far!!!!!!!!
"My wife and i stayed at the balci Hotel last year and found it one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. The satff where the friendless we have ever come across. The pool was great the location is excelant. Close to all the hussell and bussell of the resort but far enough away not to be desturbed by it all at night. The meals where fantastic. The turkish themed night was great. The only complaint is the shower rooms very small but managable.
For anyone who is looking for a hotel to stay in in the resort i would recommend balici. So much so we are going back this year."

"On reading the reviews about the Balci we were on the verge of changing hotels, but decided to stay put, the Hotel staff can not do enough to make your stay enjoyable, the pool was great as you need to cool off because of the heat, we stayed bed and breakfast and could not fault the food, our rooms were cleaned every day with fresh linen and towels, the showers were the only thing that we have to agree with they are small but we were assured that the Hotel was going to be refurbished and the showers were the top of their list.
Please do not let these reviews put you off from staying at this Hotel, we were a party of six and none of us had any complaints"

Great time had by all!
"3 couples went on this holiday to celebrate a special wedding anniversary, so we wanted it to be great, we nearly changed hotels because of the reviews written here! we stayed with the Balci, and we are very pleased we did, we all have no bad comments about the hotel, the staff were great, we got no hassle from staff for anything, pool great, rooms clean but basic, showers are on the small side, but we all managed, and none of us are a size 12!!!!!! The staff were all very pleasant and helpful, meals were lovely, we only ate at the hotel 2 evenings, but we got no hassle to eat there more nights!!! The hotel has been taken over, and the Manager was lovely, he is turning the hotel around and was very friendly, and he knows the problems with the showers!!! Which he is going to change as soon as possible. The pool area at the Balci is great as well. I would recommend the Balci to friends and family."

hotel from hell !!!
"What is there not to say about the balci, when we first arrived the first inpression of the hotel was it looked really nice, but then thats where it all started. we walking in to book in and was imediatly pesterd by the staff. we said we'd be down later for happy hour when we'd unpacked. Well it didnt take us long to unpack because we couldnt there was no where to store our clothes, the rooms where tiny the bathroom was disgusting. the shower run on to the bathroom floor it was like a swimming pool in there.
AND WHAT EVER YOU DO DONT LEAVE MONEY IN YOUR ROOM.
The balcany door didnt lock. Maids were ignorant.
Happy hour what happy hour they charge you so much for the first drink you pay for the second in that price.
cocktails and things like archers are so exspensive to buy. no english or other cultured beer was sold in the hotel.
Becarfull aswell when it come to your bill from the bar keep a check on wot your drinking they like to add a couple of drinks on for good luck that you havent had.
Staff in the hotel are ignorant.
just becarfull aswel as staff do try it on with there customers, including the mangment and reseption staff.
On regards to if you want so tips on good places to eat and drink. English bar, Ilyda hotel, club maric apartments.
The only goog thing about the balci is there pool.
The shops serounding the balci the staff there were very friendly.
If you like being hit on and badgerd into doing some thing you dont want to then staying at the balci or serounding hotels might be the one for you.But if not id seriouly consider a different location.
Marmaris is a fantastic hoilday location just becarfull as to where you stay.
There are lots of activities to do e.i boat trips water park, jeep safarie, turkish bath (at the begining of your holdiay)Booze cruze.
book them on the see front in the town centre tho."

"We stayed at the Balci in september 2005 for 1 week. When we first arrived at the balci it looked really nice from the outside and it is. ok the rooms maybe small and very basic but there is that much to do in marmaris your never in your room. The shower is very small! The hotel food is nice but can be quite expensive would recomend eating elsewhere if want cheaper meals, the staff (niko, alex, curly, yunus and our favourite ibo} are brilliant they never hassled us they were so polite and helpful, we miss them all! the pool is very clean its cleaned every day by yunus.i Its only a short walk from the beach where the night life is brilliant would recomend Malibu Beach bar for a good night. Where going back to marmaris this year but to a differant hotel but would definatly come back here another year."

Diaster From Minute Go
"When we first arrived, the hotel did not look anything like what was on holidays 4 u web site. The manager was ok, but not great, when we got to our rooms they were so small we had nowhere for our clothes, so they just stayed in our suitcase, the shower was tiny and the room in whole was very cramped. Our air conditioning did not work and they did not change our room, this was a nightmareas we had 2 small kids. The people above my mothers room kept having parties all the time and they were also being sick on her balcony. If you do decide to go to balci watch your children very carefully as my 3 year old daughter was petrified of the staff there. Th ey would not leave her alone, and they een wanted to buy her from us.Also the staff are very rude, especially Barry and coco.Barry is a ladies man and when we did decide to stay for something to eat at the hotel(which was very often)you will get your bill from him and there will be a jack daniels on it.He orders drinks and expects you to pay for it.Coco is a very nasty man that's all i can say about him.The staff also think it is funny to walk past you at the pool and throw you in regardless if you can swim or not.And believe me it is very deep. And if you didn't stay for your meals they got really nasty. You had 2 outlooks from the hotel, the first was a main road and the second was a buildind full of chickens and wild cats. The Albena across the road from the Balci was good and the staff were nice, they even knew what the staff was like at the balci. The Felix restaurant is rubbish we ordered a steak pie and the wasn't properly cooked. The jeep safari trip was really good but a word of warning wear old clothes and no make up as it is water fights from the minute go.If you want to go scuba diving Do Not book with the reps that go around the hotels and apartments as they rip you of big time , we learnt the hard way,we paid about £100 for the boat trip, and that was with Octopus diving.2 days later when we down to the beach front we were getting the same thing for £28.Our next door neighbours came with us as holidays 4 u said the BALCI had disabled facilities(yeah right). He is in a wheelchair and for 2 weeks he could not have a shower or use his toilet inside the apartment. He had to use the toilets beside the reception and as for getting a was he just had to sit in the swimming pool. All in all Marmaris is nice and most of the people their are nice too, but would never ever stay at the Balci again even if they paid me a million pounds. One more thing if you are going try and stay there on a self catering basis and not a b&b like us ,as when you eat out it can start to get quite expensive.Hope this is helpul."

Alright but wouldnt recommend
"The Balci looks good from outside but the rooms could do with updating and are small and the showers even smaller. There is only 1 drawer and one small wardrobe (with only 4 hangers) in the twin rooms (was supposed to be a double tho!)so we were living out of the suitcase. only got clean sheets and towels once in the week we were there also. The pool is great and quite big for Turkey and we always managed to get a lounger no problem even later in the day (maybe due to the time of our stay tho). Staff were ok with us - never harrassing us to eat there but did ask politely on occasion and were fine when we went out instead. We did hear others complain about them and saw arguements with them while there tho so i think we just got lucky. The location is great and i would recommend scotts for somewhere to eat its just round the corner and does a full english breakfast for £1. Would also recommend getting your trips off the locals as they are the same as the reps ones only half the price. We did the Dalyan which was fantastic, and the turkish bath both from the guys down by the beach. If you are with thomas cook/sunset i would recommend millionaires cruise tho - well worth the £19 its amazing and all inclusive on the day so all your food and drinks are free - dont miss it, some people even went twice it was that good. Overall we loved turkey and a holiday is what you make it and so we just ignored the bad stuff at the balci but wouldnt return.
one more important thing - the cigarettes at the airport on your way home are only £6 for 200 but dearer on the plane!! , and take food and juice with you for at the airport as they are soo expensive - 4 drinks and 4 burgers was £48 im not kidding and someone was almost £5 for a can of coke."

coco the not so funny clown
"when we arrived at the balci, our first impressions were good. the rooms are basic but we only needed to wash and sleep there. the pool is clean and there were plenty of parasols. the reception staff were friendly but on finding that i had no key to lock my balcony door, they were unable to help.
shower cubicle is very small. i am a size 12 and could not wash my hair without banging my elbows on the wall. not enough draw space. the only real PROBLEM we had were the waiters, not all but most. their attitude to women stinks, they think that they can speak as they like with no retribution. DON,T get into a drinks round with them ( they will rip you off!) happy hour is a joke, when we ordered ( buy one get one free) we were only given one. when we questioned this we were told that happy hour was restricted to the restaraunt. however the notice board did not stipulate this. needless to say our protests were ignored. they will harrass you to eat there instead of going out of the hotel to eat and will intimidate you until you do. watch the fun and games at the pool, they will try and throw you in regardless of your safety. food was edible but only that. pool is 1.6/1.8m deep, no shallow end so be carefull. small kids pool. management was non-existant. the balci do not like you to bring food or drink from the outside, even for use in your room. the shop on the same side of the road as the hotel is the cheapest and friendliest. the bar opposite the balci is good and the staff are nice. try jacarindas,( with your back to the balci turn left and then left at the top of the road,) they're lovely. rovers return does good food and so do george and dragon ( go out of hotel, turn left, then right and left at the lights) marmaris is a nice place and the dalyan departure trip is good value. just remember to use insect repellant while you are in dalyan, the mosquitos are rife there. talk of the town, appollon and cousins bar good for a night out. would go to marmaris again, but never to the balci"

"We went there as a family and had a great time. During our experience the staff were fantastic , helpful and smiley. The food was not perfect but we always found something to eat according to our tastes. The location of the hotel is brilliant. Just 10 min. walk away from the beach and the clubs are on the beach, too. We booked lots of day trips with Ozzy(owner of the hotel) and got great deals. We will be there again this summer in June and September. Never listen to the bad reviews go with an open mind."

Brilliant Hotel & Staff
"What to say about the Balci in Marmaris, well we thought it would be bad to okay but in fact it was excellent.
First the couple of almost complaints the rooms were quite small but adequate for us, no mini-fridge in the older rooms (they were upgrading when we were there all the new rooms have mini-fridges), the pressure on the shower was phenomenal but this meant the bathroom flooded quite easily, this dried out quickly though usually by the time you got back again they've sorted this in the updated rooms. The manager said that by next year all the rooms will have changed over and he showed us the upgraded rooms. Air-conditioning was available in every room although you had to pay a charge for this.
For the rest the maid service was excellent they came every day, the bar/restarant staff were excellent as well couldn't be friendlier, reception staff surprisingly again were excellent and very friendly. Like I said above the manager showed us around when we'd got talking to him and was really nice.
Every where was clean and the food was very nice. Same with drinks they made cocktails and other drinks measure as usual were holiday strong and not UK measures so you had to be careful. They ran a tab for things like food and drinks but were happy to let you pay when you wanted. Some people waited till the end of the holiday we paid every morning.
Pool was a good size, we seen some that would barely fit four people, it also had a water slide. Pool was open 08:00-18:00 and was cleaned at the end of every night.
So to sum up excellent hotel, wonderful people, a great holiday and only 5 minutes from the beach!"
