11 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"Absolutely wonderful - total luxury without feeling that you're being 'hovered overm by the staff.' The rooms are big enough, bathrooms fully stocked with a huge array of products (shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, moisturiser, tissues, wipes etc.) The hotel is spotless and mainly built from glistening marble, loads of bars and quiet coffee lounges and reading rooms. 4 outdoors pools, 2 indoor (1 in spa area), good games room for the kids, nightclub and a bowling alley. Numerous eateries (some 24 hour) with beautifully presented and tasty food. It's 'ultra' inclusive - which means all food and drinks and entertainment (including the cocktail menu.) But what really made the holiday were the staff - so friendly and polite, efficient uin everything they did and always with a smile on their faces. Lovely beach through the hotel's gardens to the rear and a typical Turkish market bang opposite the hotel entrance. Guests mainly German and Russian but, as they demand high standards I don't see this as a bad thing - beats Rep Shows and Bingo! FAULTLESS"

"I have just returned from a 2 week all inclusive stay at the Amara Beach and thought it was a lovely resort. What is also handy is that you are first to be dropped off after transfer and last going back. Like some of the other reviews, the English are a minority here, however numbers are increasing now the hotel features in Thomson brochures. Rooms are a little small with twin beds pushed together, however this was our only moan. Both pools were nice but again the sunbed snatching gets a little tiring after a few days. The grassed areas are more roomy and quieter and there are great bean bags further down where you can relax closer to the beach. The beaches are nice and clean and the sea was so warm in August. As for the food, you really couldn't ask for anything more. The lunchtime and evening buffets were huge with plenty of choice. But the best night by far had to be the Gala evening on Wednesday. This is only fortnightly so if you go for a week you may miss it. The entire outside area of the hotel are transformed into what looks like a wedding reception. There is live music, ballroom dancing as well as a huge firework display. Not to mention the food. I just wish it was on every week so we could experience it all over again. Not to be missed. Get down there early though to secure a good seat. We also went on a few excursions - The Fire of Antolia show which is like a Greek riverdance. Great show but very hot sitting amongst the crowds. The water park in Belek was overpriced and a bit naff all in all. Otherwise there is plenty to do in and around the hotel and Antalya has lots of shops and restaurants if you want to go a bit further afield. Side itself is a 15 min taxi ride away costing up to 40TL so the buses are a better option. Our rep told us that although Turkish Lira is the currency, they like hard currency so also except Euros with so many German tourists in the area. It was our first time in Turkey and would definitely go back."

Extremely good resort - nothing is too much trouble
"Spent 1 week at the resort in August 2009. Really could find nothing to find fault with. The food was varied daily and offered a huge choice to suit all of us. The Hotel has cleverly created lots of different areas, so if you want to sit quietly reading a book in cool air conditioning, you can go to the lounge, or the spa area, or if you want fun and entertainment then the lower pool is the place to be. Would reccommend it and will certainly be paying another visit."

Very Good Hotel
"Just returned from 2 weeks at the Amara Beach. Hotel excellent, very clean, food very good, plenty to do. Double rooms a bit small and the sunbeds around the pool are taken by 07:30 every morning however, the staff will always acquire beds for you. Limited number of Brits, probably 20% of occupancy however, should increase now the hotel is a Thompson destination. The pools are very clean, the top pool is a relaxation pool however, less busy than the lower pools and we used this one as it was not as hectic! Beach nice...VERY HOT!!!!!!!!"

Book for next year before you go.
"From checking in right through to departure this was our best Thompson Platinum experience. Upexpected upgrade to a Junior Suite through to great cuisine in a location which is undersold in the brocure. The staff are great, the 'all inclusive' is 'all inclusive' unlike neighbouring hotels. The place is spotless and there are nice touches like the iced towels brought to you twice a day . Brits probably numer only 15% but easily recognisbale as they are the polite ones. Germans are still programmed to snaffle sunbeds by the pool , but no not worry as the lawned areas which slope down to the beach are a prettier option . We never bothered with any trips as there is so much to do in the confines of the grounds , but make sure to explore the ' for the tourist Turkish Bazaar' which is just over the road as it is great fun in a totally non threatening environment . There is even an underground nightclub which again is all inclusive. Our teenage girls both loved the place and reckoned it was their best ever beach holiday."

What a Turkish delight
"Well my holiday started badly with a delay at Birmingham airport and when we eventually arrive in turkey we were put on the wrong coach to our resort hotel so what should have been a short 45 minutes transfer to the Hotel ended with 3 hour site seeing tour of the Turkish country side pity it was in the middle of the night and we could see nothing But It did start to improve once we arrived at the hotel. We were greeted at the hotel by the reception staff and cleared through very quickly ( think they could see we needed some sleep ) But once we had had a few hours sleep and a little moan to the Thomson rep about the coach trip thing started to improve. ( thankfully ) What a hotel Staff could not do enough for you always around to offer drinks etc. Rooms were on the small side but very comfortable and very clean. Having been to Turkey before I have experience the good standard of service that is offered but did not expect the one I received here above and beyond Excellent. High volume of Germans at the hotel but this was not a problem as all guest are treated the same ( and we soon found the twenty or so Brits that were staying that week and had a very enjoyable week with them thanks Neil and Anne ). It was worth going on this holiday just for the Gala evening one word WOW. Now the big question would I return, The answer is like a shoot by far the best hotel I have stayed at for service, food, comfort and pure relaxation WHAT A TURKISH DELIGHT"

Great for a flop and drop holiday
"Just come back from a great week. Everything was great people, very friendly and service first class. From May 1 Thomsons have opened it up to the British although still many germans there were 40 Brits when we left. Weather superb. Location well outside Side not walkable but there is a very good local bus service into Side and also Manavgat for only 3 TL. Would recommend you use these rather than the overpriced trips. The food in the main buffet restaurant varied , beautifully presented and well cooked. We preffered this restaurant than the 3 specialist restaurants. Hotel exceptionally clean in all aspects, rooms while not enormous are very good with an adequate balcony. Our first trip to Turkey having travelled in many parts of the world and were very impressed."

If you want luxury and class, this is the place to be.
"What an amazing experience. I travelled to this resort in February 2009. Although this hotel was mainly dominated by German people, everybody including the staff were extremely helpful and respectable. The food was amazing, they had a seperate section for childrens meals and a section for people on a diet. The rooms were lovely. With a good size bed and flat screen TV's in every room. This hotel has a games room, a bowling alley and a cinema - which i have never seen in a hotel before. My daughter who was 3 and a half was very busy in the fantastic children's club. The evening entertainment was great. The in door swimming pool was lovely and warm during our entire stay. This hotel is well suited for families with children, couples and honey mooners."

High Quality Versus Price
"This was second time of staying at the Amara beach, stayed same period in 2007. We went with friends both times (their 4th visit). Many of the same persons as last year, also 50% of the staff the same. Very friendly atmosphere, staff with real smiles on thier faces. Extremely clean hotel, my wife says its Blink-Blink hotel! Staff always cleaning & managers controlling Food is excellent & show cooking every day with good variety of main courses & deserts. The Ala Carte resturants extremely high quality. Drinks also very good with some branded drinks - JB whiskey etc. for free, only problem this year was the champagne was not like last year - bad batch, many bottle flat - no bubbles & had to make staff open new bottles until one with bubbles found. (Also free of charge). Rooms are on the smaller side with very compact bathrooms, but all the required amenities supplied. Book normal roo as you get a side sea view which is the same as paying extra for a sea view room. 4 various types of pillows to choose from. With the two outdoor swimming pools one as activity & children, the other for quietness/restful area. there is also a indoor pool, Turks bath 6 sauna free to use with extra free towels etc. Gardens leading to the beach are well looked after with seats, gaint cushions etc if you like laying more secluded. Beach area always clean & continually maintained through the day. Gala evening every second Wednesday - excellent evening with very professional entertainment - entertainment in the amfi theatre is also to a high standard. We had several massages & treatments at the centre which were excellent value for money & staff experts. "

"Just returned from the Amara Beach Beach Resort in Colakli, Side and I have to say it was perfect! On arrival we were met by a young girl with Turkish Delight and a very friendly Receptionist who couldn`t do enough to make the check in as easy as possible. The rooms are very nice, well furnished, even a bath robe is provided. It was all inclusive and having experienced various such holidays I was a little wary but the food was always first class. There were also 3 a la carte Restaurants which could be booked and the level of food and service here was even better. The mini bar in the room was filled up each day, also at no charge, and the quality of drinks available was of a better quality and much more choice than I have had before. You could choose how often you wanted bedding changed, every day if requested and the whole resort was spotless. There was also a good Gym and wellness area which we didn`t take advantage of as the weather was so good. As far as the guests go it was a mixture of German, Dutch, Belgian, Swiss, Russian and turks, never too many of one nationality, so it didn`t feel as though one nation ran the plac e,which was super. Entertainment was also of a high standard, amazing shows in the evening and plenty to do during the day if you wanted but you were left in peace if you didn`want to join in. The highlight has to have been the Gala Evening round the pool and in the garden with the most amazing buffet I have ever seen, am a caterer myself, followed by a show and an amazing firework display. I can`t wait to go back again and recommend this Hotel to anybody who likes things to be a little better than the norm"
