Fabulous hotel to enjoy and relax
"I june we went to this hotel for the tenth time. It's wonderful!! There's a beautiful garden that runs up to the lovely private sandbeach. Last winter the rooms have been redecorated, garden path's redone and new tables and chairs everywhere. The food is even beter, and there's lots of choice in warm and cold dishes and very tasty desserts.
Staff is simply SUPERB!! They make us feel at home, always friendly and always ready. You feel more like family than a guest. And it's especially for this that we're going back next year (or hopefully even sooner). Thank you Richmond Staff, you're the best!!"

Amazing hotel - the place to be !
"Beautiful 5star hotel, wireless internet for free (highspeed), very friendly personnel and staff. Nice garden, flowers, very clean and cosy swimming pool. This is the place to be if you want to relax and enjoy your holiday. What can I tell you more ? A large variety in food and beverage in the multiple restaurants, lovely staff and personnel and for sure animation team does a very good job all day all night. "Spa health and relaxing" facilities. Cosy bar seats, service in your own language (Dutch, French, English, German) Beachbar, nice beach, rooms are clean and welcome surprise for all the guests. Relaxing and quiet atmosphere, no noise in the morning when you wake up (friendly housekeeping). I can only recommend you this hotel, I have been working in hospitality and luxury hotels in Europe .... in Richmond Ephesus you are not not a number but a guest, fabulous holiday in Kusadasi / Turkey."

Never again, even for free
"We have stayed in Richmond Ephesus hotel in 2006, but the recalls are so strong, so I can't help posting this review. The hotel is very far from being called clean - spotty carpets in the main building ( especially 3d floor), dirty and old elevators and so on. The walls in our room very also dirty, small bathrooms as well. Shortly, the hotel needs badly the complete renovation.
Food - the same menu every 4 days ( we had all-in) , boring and sick (one morning I get the fruit salad from the previous day). As there are a lot of guests , you would better to come to dinner to the very beginning to avoid standing in queues.
Staff - my personal guess, there are a lot of complains from the guests, so the staff is very irritated when you ask something. We tried to changed our room 5 times at the reception and ended up by conflict with management.
Beach - sandy and very closed to the hotel, but it is a public beach. Normally, it means that somebody stole my sandals, 2 days after , the towels.
Animation - we have seen better...
Summary: definitely, it is not a 5*, not even 3*. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.
p.s. I am an easy-going person, but , sorry, it was too much even for me."

One of the worst hotels ever
"My husband and I recently took a two week trip though the Greek Islands with a 3 day stopover at the Richmond Ephesus in Kusadai. We both travel quite a bit, both for business and pleasure and are generally very easy to please - but we agree that it was the worst hotel we've ever stayed in.
The rooms were just adequate, but the staff was rude to a level approaching hateful -- and the manager was the worst. None of the staff spoke English, somewhat expected in a "foreign" country, but no one even tried to understand anything we asked and provided absolutely no information when we checked in or during our stay.
Our room was supposed to include the dinner buffet, but after dinner, the waiter presented us with a $11 bill for drinks from the soda fountains in the room -- "drinks not included in the buffet," even thought the soda and juice service was located in the middle of the buffet with no signs saying beverages were not included, and were certainly not told this (or anything else for that matter) in advance.
At the pool, we tried to get towels - none at the poolside, go inside to "towel bar" where there was no staff to assist, we chased down staff in the Spa who asked if we we had purchased a "towel card" at the front desk. We gave up at that point (my husband - "I just want a damn towel!") and walked to the resort's beach, which smelled like raw sewage. We picked up some shells, and our hands smelled like sewage for hours.
All day there are all kinds of loud and obnoxous pool programs accompanied by awful music, an annoying DJ and all kinds of yelling through a tinny audio system. Most of the other guests seemed to be French and German and the rudeness of the staff was only exceeded by the other guests.
We had several more miserable experiences; too long to list in a brief review. The staff provided no information about anything, we were dazed and confused about everything during our stay. It was so awful that we left a day early at significant expense.
It was hellacious. My advice -- avoid it like the plague!"

loved the richmond ephesus
"just back from the richmond ephesus,
we were wary having read some of the reviews, this hotel was great.
we were all inclusive and the food was good and this holiday is very good value. we found the staff excellent and the facilities very good.
we were the only irish there but that was fine, the hotel is 15 minutes from kusadasi but there is a regular bus service and we went to a concert in ephesus and the hotel supplied transport. the hotel entertainment by the pool is a bit annoying but otherwise nice relaxing holiday"

Richmond Ephesus, ignore the staff
"I think one's opinion of this hotel will vary with one's expectations. This hotel is rated officially as a 5 star resort. The rooms are decent in size and are very comfortable. They all have terraces. Not all have a good view. The swimming pool is lovely and never seemed to be crowded. The beach is less appealing: brown sand which gives the water an unappetizing brown color far from the Agean blue one imagines.
Most of the clientele have an all inclusive package which provides 3 buffet meals a day. The food is copious but mediocre. We were quite happy that we had a rate which was very reasonable and only included breakfast.
Most of the tourists when we visited seemed to be young to middle aged married people with young children. Most seemed to be from middle European and Russian speaking countries, so if you are a swinging single or need English conversation, you may be out of luck.
The biggest flaw of this hotel is that the staff are neither friendly nor helpful.
We had the impression that they dealt with such vast numbers of tourists at a time that they had no interest in providing more than the the most cursory level of service.
Overall, the Richmond Ephesus made a convenient base from which to visit Ephesus and Kusadasi, was fine for breakfast, refreshing swims and a good night's sleep. We found the rates more reasonable here than at some places which offered far less. So, ignore the staff, eat out , and you'll be fine."

5* or 4* no way
"I stayed at the hotel in august 2003. Myself and my sister were guaranteed that this was a 5* hotel however it was not.
We had found this holiday on the teletext and had been told that it was a 5* All inclusive hotel.
When we arrived at the hotel we were initially impressed by the private long driveway and the hotel lobby.
However this was short lived because when we tried to check in, none of the desk staff spoke or understood English.
We had to wait for 15 minutes or longer for them to find someone who could speak and understand English. This was the case for the majority of the holiday.
By this time, we prayed that we had not come on a holiday from hell , but it got progressively worse.
We soon found that we had booked into a hotel which contained only German, French and Swedish holiday makers , who spent much of their time staring at us and giving us the cold shoulder. They were not friendly at all.
There was one or two English families there and they appeared to hang out with each other and sit in one corner of the hotel.
I guess that it was more confortable for them to stay together as none of the other guests spoke English.
Also, the cable TV channels in the hotel rooms only catered for the guests with the nationalities mentioned above.
The final nightmare started 4 days into our 7 day holiday.
The hotel decided to do some paint decorating of the exterior walls of the hotel.
This required the decorator to chip away at the old paint .
So every time we returned from the beach our room balcony was dirty and full of old paint.
We complained to the desk staff , every day, at the times when they could find a person who could speak english.
However despite our complaints nothing was done.We was not offered a new room, and we did not have a balcony to sit on for the rest of the day or evening because it was dirty.
My advice to any body who is not fluent in another language other than English AVOID THIS HOTEL."

5-stars are misleading
"A hotel that has been sadly over rated with 5 stars leading to a miserable holiday. I may be picky but hot food should be hot, 5-star to me implies cushions on the sunloungers and chairs around the pool and a clean pool. I forgot that the word quiet in advertising lingo means there is nothing accessible from the hotel by foot. The rooms are OK which is not 5-star and the beach is dirty which may or may not be the hotels fault but by implication, is."

"we have been to this hotel previously and found it to be friendly, clean and with good food. On this holiday though, we arrived to find we had been double booked so they gave us a family room which although ok for a family with youngsters, it was no good for a middle aged couple with the 77 year old mother in law. We complained to reception who asked us to persivere for the night, which we did and to our delight the desk manager Mehmet gave us the presidential suite which was absolutley wonderfull. We could not have asked for more, Mehmet went beyond the call of duty to help us which we were very pleased and gratefull with. Well done Richmond, we will be back this September."
