"THE GOOD, THE BAD and THE BRILLIANT CLEANER".
"We have been going to Icmeler, on and off for 27 years, so we know what to expect.
Stayed at the Sahin Palace for two weeks from end of September to mid October.
First .....the good... rooms fantastic; cleaner BRILLIANT; pool great.
We had e.mailed the Sahin on three occasions to inform them that my
wife has Rhemotoid Athritis, and was unable to climb to many stairs.
On arrival we were shown to the perfect room. 10 out of 10.
My wife cannot drink to much alcohol due to the medication she is on.
I could not drink to much alcohol due to the fact i was having to loose
weight for an operation ( hernia ) i was having on my return home BUT i was very
impressed by the service i received on one particular day.
I asked if i could have a SEVELIN cider but was told there was none in stock.
One of the staff then phoned the cider company, and within 15 minutes
a crate of SEVELIN cider was delivered. THAT IS BRILLIANT SERVICE.
Unfortunatley, it then went downhill.
Now ......the bad.....
The management must understand that "self catering" means just that.
In the dictionary it states "for people who provide their own food".
I do appreciate that the management of MOST self catering hotels
in Turkey expect you to use their facilities on some occasions, (helps towards the rent)
but we do NOT want to be stuck in the hotel grounds all of the time.
We had a couple of breakfasts and a couple of evening meals in the apartment complex,
but the food was not great. On one occasion, i was "turned over" on a bar bill.
I have since been told that i was not the only one.
After many years of staying in Turkey self catering, we have found that the staff
tend to ignore ( or worse ) you if you do not use their facilities most of the time.
This began to happen on our second week. Because most of the families were NOT
using the restaurant to eat and drink, the internet was switched off.
A big sign outside the apartments stated "FREE INTERNET" !!!!!
All the bars around us were still connected so we know there was no problems getting a connection.
I want to state AGAIN..... the rooms and cleanliness at the Sahin are second to none.
Some of the staff were great.....but the others................
Once you get used to the nearby mosque starting up at 6a/m, the cock crowing at about the same time,
and a dog barking in the distance ( things we have got used to over the years ) you COULD have a great time.
Good luck to Tracey with your forthcoming event.
Would we stay here again...... NO. The management will need to up it's game and understand
that the British Public want to try different things ( bars and restaurants ) whilst on holiday. If we wanted to eat and drink
within the hotel grounds ALL of the time, we would have gone "all inclusive" !!!
Shame because this was one of the nicest apartments we have stayed in..........
Places to try in Icmeler....... You MUST go to Natalies Steak Restaurant ( dolmus towards Marmaris; get off at Taj Mahal
restaurant; walk down to seafront, turn left and it is 500 yards along. Best T/BONE steak in the world ).
Also, Esnaf Lokantasi ( opposite Tansas in Icmeler; buffet; point at what you fancy but ask them to heat it up;
great cheap meal; nothing fancy ).
A big "THANK YOU" to Gordon, Anita, David and Tracy ( Westgate ) for helping make our holiday so enjoyable.
P.S. If you are wondering why one of the pictures shows part of the cooker hood, just read the manufacturers name !!!!"

13 years and never again
"we have been staying at sahin palace every year for the past 13 years
but the new managements treatment of us is aweful.
They palaced my 72 year old father with knee problems in an attic room up a spiral staircase, when i complained to management they told me if you do not like it go to another hotel, they did move them after 4 days to a ground floor. They were spitful towards the childern turning of the wireless internet when they tried to use their ipads and ignoring them when asking for the room key instead throwing the key at their feet
AFTER 13 YEARS WE WILL NEVER EVER STAY HERE AGAIN until the managment changers"
