"I stayed at the Private Hotel with my 17 year old daughter, it was our first time in Turkey and our first holiday on our own. To say the least we were a little apprehensive but this was a very last minute booking.
As soon as we got off the coach before we had even got our cases we were approached by the staff at the Irish Bar swiftly saved by Thomas the bar manager who assisted us with our check-in.
The Hotel is quite basic but the service and friendliness of the staff is second to none, we have travelled to a lot of different places and never felt so welcome as we did at the private. Its not the quietest of hotels but everything else made up for that.
The food in the hotel was always nice .. Chefs chicken curry was amazing.
The bar staff work so hard Thomas, Chris, Ihsan and Mehmet and not forgetting Giyasettin the hotel manager :-) nothing was to much trouble and service always came with a smile.
I would highly recommend this hotel, rooms are clean, food is great and you can always get a sun lounger round the pool even if you don't get up till lunch time.
Already booked to go back in September ... Julie and Jessica Smith

Cheap and cheerful
"After staying at the Private Hotel in July/August I can safetly say it was great. Obviously is not 5 star stardard but, you're not paying 5 star rates are you? The hotel bar staff were very welcoming and frendly and we stayed in the pool all day everyday pretty much. The pool was cleaned everyday for sure (i know this because we always have water fights with the hose with the staff at the end of the day) and the room was cleaned everyday as well. We got fresh towels and the beds were changed everyday and after a small hick-up regarding being walked in on by accident they were very quick to appologise and make sure i was happy. Everyone working on reception throughout the day and night were all incredibly welcoming and said hello every time we passed as well as asking how our day had been and meeting every need we had with a smile. We had originally been allocated an attic room which was rather undesireable but as soon as we asked to change to a normal room, they speedily swapped us with no fuss at all. Rooms have fridge (mini bar) which we used for our sun creams etc. and our view from the balcony was absolutely stunning! Didn't eat breakfast there as we were late nighters but the food during the day that we ordered from the pool area was lovely and freshly cooked. In all, we had a lovely time at the Private and would not hesitate to return. Big thanks to Thomas, Nuri, Ryan and Chris for making our holiday one to remember :D cheers guys, love neeps and tattie scone. "

"Just returned from 2 weeks staying at Hotel Private, been going to Icmeler for the last 13 years staying at various hotels/apartments and have to say this was one of the best. Location, cleanliness, friendliness was 9/10. Thomas, Chris and Ryan great guys and very trust worthy. Always landed back there at end of night as drinks were 2 for 1, great value and Thomas kept us entertained. Reception staff very friendly and room cleaned daily."

"we stayed at the private for 2weeks we had maid service everyday and clean towels most days but the floor was not swept or moped in the 2 weeks and we got a clean sheet on are 10th day.
the hotel is right in the middle of everything and the loud music would go down at 12am but then go back up 10mins later till early hours when police came round.
the breakfast was awfull and you were not allowed to bring any food or drink from the outside in to the hotel witch made it difficult for us having 2 small children and trying to stick to a budget.
the older staff at the hotel were very nice but the younger boys they had working there were very rude and made you feel uncomftable.
the hotel is scruffy and needs a total make over and it is some where i won't be going back to."

Excellent in every way
"First time to Turkey and could not have chosen a better resort and hotel. Excellent location next to the canal, short stroll to beach and main square. I stayed here with my 28 year old daughter from 27/09/09 to 04/10/09. Our room was on the side opposite the Irish bar, and we joined in with the fun there every night.
Superb staff, and clean sheets and towels every day.
I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone, and intend to book for myself and hubby for next year."

All you really want from a hotel
"Private Hotel was a decent place to stay, it is located just off the canal which is lined with restaurants, bars, souvenir stalls and people selling day trips (I recommend the boat trip to Turtle beach and the mud baths all for £18!) . The hotel itself is kept very clean, we had our room cleaned on a daily basis and the maids were very friendly and chatty as were all the hotel staff. The room was what you would expect, twin beds with a fridge and a mini bar and a bathroom with a shower that worked! (the hot water is available until 10am and then again from 5:30pm) The view from our balcony was lovely, we were facing the mountains which, except for the sea, enclosed the resort. The pool area was very clean with plenty of sun loungers, with a mixture of fixed and non-fixed umbrellas and a large TV behind the bar which shows BBC news 24 in the day and football in the evening. The bar staff were very friendly and chatty also, be careful of the cockroach trick they play on you! The pool food was mainly British; omelettes, chips, burgers, salads and the beer was lovely and cold. You can't bring your own drinks to the pool including water you purchased from the actual hotel (5ltr bottle costs 3TL). The breakfast was served up between 07:30-10:00 and was made up of cheese, sliced meat, salad (which was lovely and fresh), bread, olives and cereal. I wouldn't recommend the tea as it came out the dispenser with plenty of milk and was frothy! As you are quite nearby the surrounding bars you can hear the music from your hotel room, but the music finishes at around midnight so you can still get a decent nights sleep. The hotel would appeal to everyone, the location is great and the facilities are tip top too (safety deposit boxes cost £15 for one week and £27 for two weeks, there are two PCs located in the lobby with internet access which is charged at 4TL), cleanliness is second to none and the staff are friendly and make you feel very welcome. Make sure you visit the 'Irish bar' across the road which serves Guinness and BOGOF cocktails after 7:30pm."

"Just got back from Private Hotel. The hotel is very basic and the breakfast adequate, however, the rooms are cleaned daily and the staff are friendly and hardworking. The pool is quite big and very deep, with only a small baby pool. The hotel is very central to all bars, restaurants and beach. Icmeler is very noisey until midnight but then quiet so that was fine. We had a fabulous holiday, i never visit the same place twice but am seriously considering a return trip, that should be recommendation enough!!"

Good value for the money paid
"This hotel has an excellent location. It is in the heart of Icemeler giving access to all facillities that the town has to offer, ie: bars, restaurants and the beach. Upon arrival staff were very efficient booking us in and we were shown promptly to our room. The room was very basic but was clean with twin beds and a fridge, the maid visited every day and we were left clean towels (towels were scruffy so if you're fussy take your own). We did not use any of the hotel facilities whilst staying there as we wre more interested in exploring Icmeler. Th majority of the bars and restaurants around the canal, centre and sea front offer the same boring entertainment, that is either dancing "Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Freddie Mercury or Robo Cop". This becomes very repetitive throughout your stay, and a tip is to eat between 8pm and 9.30pm to ensure that in the middle of your meal you are not caught in this loud circus. If you want a really nice evening dinning experience with outstanding food, wine and service "The Love Boat" is a must. This gives you an altogether different culenary experience to other restaurants which also does not have a significant price difference.
Here you can have a very good bottle of wine for 39 lira (approx £16-18) a beautiful fillet steak cooked to your liking for 26-32 lira. I would also recommend the "Venice" for a fairly satisfactory lunch time or evening meal. The Hotel is somewhere I would recommend if you are looking for a basic clean base for your holiday and the swimming pool is a good size compared to the other B&B's. The breakfast id very basic consisting of cornflakes, boiled eggs, tomatoes ect. If you get a good price go for it. Make sure that you barter really hard, and if you go to the Wednesday market get there early. The market is huge and gets very hot as it is undercover, gets very hot and there are a lot of people. Really enjoyed our visit and would deffinitely visit the private hotel and Icemeler again."

"My partner and I booked with some reservation as to what to expect from Turkey. After checking in at 2330 hours we proceeded to the Pool Bar. We were immediately welcomed by the car staff who it has to be said were fantastic throughout the whole 2 weeks that we stayed. The hotel food was excellent as were all of the staff.
The hotel is ideally located for everything. A wonderful holiday and a certainty for our holiday next year.
Villa Kontes is a must for a meal, and only a few yards from the front entrance. See if you can spot Mr Alfihad serving and watch out for that cheeky chap ZaZa -"I'm your cousin you know".
Icemeler for us again and the Private Hotel."

"First thing first, the best thing about this hotel is the location.Situated at the end of the canal in the centre of town, great access to shops, bars restaurants. We didn't pay a great deal for our holiday so didn't expect much so we were more than happy with the hotel and Icmeler. We didn't use the facilities at the hotel because we wanted to discover Icmeler and not the hotel. We stayed B&B,breakfast consisted of bread, cheese, meat, tomatoes, cucumber, olives, boiled eggs etc with toast and serial available.Tea and coffee via a machine.
The hotel seemed to be 80% OAP's which wasn't a problem for us.Pool seemed to be faily busy with a pool bar with drinks/ snacks.
The room was fairly basic,2 beds tv,fridge, shower but very clean and the maids sorted our room out every day ie new bed linen and towels.
Our balcony was situated at the back of the hotel over the Chinese restaurant which was quite noisey until midnight, after that it was fine.
Hot water seemed to run out after 7pm but after a very hot day on the beach a warmish shower was fine.
Air con was available for £35 a week but we didn't bother with it cos being a tight northerner,I wouldn't folk out the cash. How effective the air con was, maybe someone can mention.
We had a late flight home and had to check out by 12 mid day,we paid £10 to keep the room on til 8pm when we got picked up.
Staff all very friendly and helpfull.
Would I recommend the hotel....YES, Would I stay there again....Yes
Its not the Ritz, you get what you pay for and we certainly got good value for our money.
I don't go on holiday to sit in a hotel room, for me holiday accomodation is somewhere to store my gear, wash change and sleep.
Private hotel Icmeler was ideal for what we wanted, great location, great staff. That was our first visit to Turkey and loved every minute."
