"my girlfriend and i visited turkey for the first time and stayed at the grand, we were made very welcome and our first impressions were good, great pool area, restaurant and bar and pictuesque setting.
However, in daylight the place was abit different, the rooms were ok but very shabby, the bathroom was directly opposite the kitchen area and the kitchen was very basic to the extreme. One night there was a thunder storm and on returning to our room found a flood of water that had come in through a gap between the window frame and wall. we repoted it but were told nothing could be done with it and were left to clean up ourselves.
the furniture is shabby and the plants on the balcony had some sticky bud like things on them and they stuck to all our towels and clothes we put out to dry.
The staff were very good, friendly and the service was second to none, the guy behind the reception was especially good, well done serkan mate!! the bar staff were great and helpful. The hotel barber was the biggest pain, always wanting to shave you or cut your hair.
We will be going back to turkey in june but not to the grand im afraid, too expensive and never a 4 star in a month of sundays!!"

"on arriving at this apartments we could not have been made more welcome. the staff were all great.entertainment was also really good, especially during the day.loads of fun round and in the pool area.really hot in july so remember your high factors.
2 mins to the bus takes you into town centre which is great.would def go back. rooms are really small but you are not in them much so not really a big problem."

"we stayed at grand aquaruim on the 20th october 2008, we had a fantastic time, we have never been made to feel so welcome on a resort as much as here, the staff we brilliant, well mannered, excellent servicenothing was too much trouble. The rooms we cleaned every day, clean towels left on the beds in pretty patterns, the beds changed everyday. The food was lovely and also the entertainment by aj was good laugh. We met some lovely people especially geoff and diane that have continued to go back a least twice a year and to honest that is what i could see myself and my family doing next year.My children are 12 and 15 and they loved it.the bus ride into icmeler is easy it stops outside tommy's bar and is about 5 minutes ride,it cost 2 lire each.make sure you have room in your case as clothes, shoes, belts and bags are really cheap.I would recommend the Grand Aquaruim to anyone, we met the owner of the complex and you couldn't meet a nicer gentleman, so hopefully we'll be back soon......"

Fab Hotel...Shame about the noise
- Very very clean
- Endless towels & toilet paper supply
- Roomy appartment (for the 2 of us) lovely little balcony
- Lovely pool, splash pool, water slide
- Nice large bar / restraunt (with free pool trable / PS2)
- On site shop, hairdresser, barber, massage
- Good pay system (you get a wristband and put money on it and then use that throughout the complex so you dont have to use cash and top up whenever you want)
- Just outside icmeler but bus stop outside with bus running every 10 mins into town, takes 5 mins at most to get into town and only costs 1L
- Taxis available in car park
- 3 supermarkets within a few minutews walk from apartments
- NOISE!!!! All music in icmeler turns off at 12midnight but because this is out of icmeler the music goes on throughout the night. Having to listen to music is no problem and for a few nights we managed to fall asleep with noise from the bar but as the week went on it got so loud that it got to the point it was 3am and the dance music was so loud the furniture in our bedroom was vibrating (and we were in an apartment as far away from the bar as you could get).
If you have young children and want them to have an early night I would be wary about staying here, at least in the town centre it goes quiet at 12
- If there are 4 people staying in 1 appartment it may feel claustrophobic
- Some of the younger male staff could be intimidating. We were staying next to a group of young girls and as they were flirting etc the staff woiuld come and hang around on my balcony to talk to them and didnt seem to see a problem with this!
I will add some pics I took... very beautifull and I really did love the place but wudnt stay again purely because of the volume of noise from bar DJ and nothing else (cant fault anything else!)
Feel free to contact me for info"

"We stayed at the grand Aquarium from 13th-20th Oct 2008 and had a very enjoyable time. The GA was quite basic, the rooms were quite small but functional. We found the showers were a little temperamental especially in the mornings as the water was not always very warm. The GA was situated in a quiet and pleasant area in the old village and was only about a 15-20 minute walk from Icemeler town.
The staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. David and Ali were particularly good. The entertainment was ok in the evening but didn't last for more than 45 mins each night. The breakfast was good along with the freshly squeezed orange juice, however the evening meal could have been better. We tended to eat out on most evenings and would recomend Valentino's' in Icemeler town centre, Valentino's staff will come and pick you up from the GA and will drop you back to the GA when you have finished. The cleanliness in the GA was of very high standard and the maid came and changed the bed sheets and towels every day.
If you have young children this is a good place to stay, especially around October when it is not too hot and not too busy. We really enjoyed our walks from the GA to Icemeler town. The people were very friendly and accomodating. Plenty of buses and taxis available from the GA to Icemeler Town or to Mamaris which is much bigger and busier than Icemler.
All in all we had a brillant holiday in Icemeler and would definately go back and stay in the GA. Our two boys aged 16 and 12 really enjoyed Turkey as there is so much to do, would recomend the boat trip, horseriding turkish bath and visiting Mamaris market on a Thursday.

"On arrival at the Grand Aquarium, we were v disapointed with the room that we were
given, we were put in a dark dingy room with no view close to the road on the ground floor, we asked to be moved to another room which we did, we had a better view of the pool but still very disapointed with the quality of the room. It may have had a 4 star rating when it was 1st built but needs updating. Furtniture was cheap and very tatty, chairs were all wripped and stained, bathroom v small and tatty. We normally stay at a 3 star (which was luxury compared to rooms here) but decided to stay at the Grand instead.
Having said all of the above, we did have a fantastic holiday, staff were brillient, very friendly, pool area was super, bar area furniture needed updating. Its 20 mins walk from Icemeler but thats fine as it was nice and quiet and away from any bar noise.
We did visit the Club Aquarium which was nice and quiet, but rooms and furniture very similar.
Rooms and bar area need re-vamping otherwise could be nice."

"We arrived at the appartments very early in the morning...the staff couldn't have been better. So welcoming and ready to help. We were very happy with all the facilities the Grand Aquarium had to offer, from the supermarket to the entertainment (which was fantastic) We were made feel like part of the big family at the Grand Aquarium. Turkey is beautiful and very hot. We went on a boat trip and it was just the best experience ever, to see Icemeler from the sea...so beautiful!! Not to mention the fact that me and my now fiance got engaged in Turkey. Will always have good memories of Turkey. Maybe go back and get married there!!"

"Had a fab time, the hotel and pool were lovely. The rooms were a bit small but didnt spend much time in there. the staff were friendly although the bar staff took a while to serve you. The cleaning of the rooms were just basic and very reluctant to give you toilet roll. We just asked reception for it. Tommys bar is a must. Food is great and staff are fantastic. lots of entertainment on there. it's where you catch the dolmus ( bus) from. Enjoy your holiday, we did"

"I went to turkey earlair this year in july, and i found ive got to say i was very impressed.
I went with my family to the Grand Aquarium and i found it a very family-friendly hotel.
I found the staff very friendly and helpful also the hotel appartments just right.
They were cleaned every day and just a nice size for the four of us.
As we were Self-Catering we went out to eat at night, which was a good choice because you got a sample of the resturants around, by which i was very impressed. Especially the resturants Friends, the food was great & so were the staff also the entertainment they did while we were there.
The taxi service was good too they were right outside the hotel whenever you wanted one and went right into the town center."

excellent photo man
"I booked this holiday as a last minute thing and had to take what was left and i was very lucky as this hotel was excellent. The staff were very good but we did go out and about alot so did not really eat there much. We did have our photos taken (120 of them) the man who takes them is wonderful he loves the children and the photos are excellent it was a special extra touch. icmeler is a lovely wecoming place and we will return. My partner is quite lazy when it comes to walking but walked into town every night for 2 weeks so it is not that far to the town centre. The hotel is so so so clean from the rooms to the swimming area to the bar it really is a wonderful relaxing place.IT WAS OUR FIRST TIME IN TURKEY AND WOULD RETURN TO GRAND AQUARIUM. and there was plenty of toilet roll like you care when on holiday."
