Well we're going back!!
"I was compelled to write this review having read some of the others. We stayed here in 2011 in Octiber following a recommendation. We are couple in our late 40's/early 50's without children. We travel extensively and enjoy our food and drink. I think the problem appears to be that people expect a "little England" when they go on holiday. I think that the good thing about this hotel is that the food is turkish! A fantastic turkish breakfast with a large choice. Lunch gives you access to the most amazing salad bar (great if you are dieting!!) and the evening meal gives you a good range of simple hot dishes and the salad bar again. The room we had was newly renovated and had a large bathroom with a good shower, admittedly the balconies were a little small, but we survived. The only real downside was the evening entertainment which was really for the children. We decided to return this year, because for the price we would not have got anything better elsewhere and we loved the area and the hotel."

Why do all the chickens cross the road into the Ova?
"we booked a family holiday for 8 to celebrate the wife's birthday. Good point was that the rooms were good and kept clean by a very good housekeeping staff. The refurbished room we were allocated did have a balcony as adverised and requested trouble was that you would need to take turns to use it as it was only big enought for one person at a time. They did swap us to a room with a useable balcony the following day. The food was ok but you really do need to like chicken, we started to eat out to get some variation. It was very hot and during the day due to the amount of drinks being consumed they were often tepid rather than cold. We missed the mall print that said the all inclusive ended at 11pm, or 10:50pm OVA bar staff time. odd that there was no till or cash box to put the money so to keep it safe it went to a pocket. Local drinks lack the strenght or taste of branded drinks or even the local alcohol served in the excellent Rose's Bar just out side the Ova's entrance. Entertainment was tediously repetetive but clearly that view is down to personal taste but the birdy song, the music man and the hokey cokey (that what they sang) once a week is hard to live with but every night is the stuff of nightmares. You had to leave the complex to avoid it as the area round the pool where entertainment was ritually slaughtered each night was the only place to sit a reap the benefts of your all inclusive holiday package. The staff in the bar and to some extent the resturant were barely polite and it was not a comfortable experience being served by them. They appear to resent the work that they are doing and the presence of non turks (the hotel did have a sizable number of Turkish guests to compare with). This was a marked contrast to an earlier holiday at the Elise Hotel in the same area. All in all it was average, I would not recommend it and clearly would not go back "

"My husband and I enjoyed the Ova so much last year that we broke the rule of a lifetime and returned this year. When we arrived, there were lots of familiar face, both amongst the staff and guests. The hotel had a new manager when we arrived who wasn't much of a people person and was very stand-offish (unlike Mehmet from last year). He spent most of his time sat at the end of the bar with his cronies, watching the bar staff like a hawk and taking up seats that should have been for guests. We also had a large earthquake and Can (the manager) was nowhere to be seen. The duty of making sure everyone was OK fell to the reception staff and the holiday rep. Thankfully, about a week in to our holiday, Can was given his marching orders! All of that aside, I felt that the food was not quite as good as last year (fewer choices), although we certainly didnt starve. Another wonderful fortnight had at the lovely Ova resort thanks to the reception staff, entertainment team and the brialliant bar staff. Well done Ova."

"Went to Ova Hotel in June 2012, what a lovely place to stay, I cant understand why some people have given this bad reveiws. Rooms were spotless, food was lovely, yes chicken on the menu a lot but it was always cooked in different ways, lamb, beef and fish also available, they are a muslim country so no bacon, sausages etc. Entertainment team did a great job of keeping guests amused, plenty to take part in. quiet pool available, kids pool a bit small but ok, plenty sun loungers available, even if you got to pool at 10am staff were happy to get you a lounger or parasol. I would go back again next year, only downfall was an earthquake that happened nearby!!!! "

"Stayed at the Ova RESORT for two weeks last October and without any doubt this was the worst hotel my wife and I have ever had the misfortune to stay. Ther is no comfort anywhere to sit and drink, particularly if it rains. The food was dreadful , chicken, chicken and more chicken. The salad bar was most unappealing, and the desserts were simply uninspiring. How people pay repeat visits I fail to see. I WOULD NOT RETURN!!!!!"

"Although we stayed here last June 2011 i had to put this review up after reading all the bad ones. We were in a top room and it was lovely, newly decorated and clean while the beds were a little too hard for me not bad and nice clean bathroom. I found the food good not a lot to choose from but all meals were adequet and i never went hungry. The entertainment isnt buzzing but the team are lovely and i got friendly with all of them if your willing to join in and have a laugh youll have a good time. We met so many great people as its a small hotel you meet the same people at the bar every night and laughed all holiday and when the bar shuts there a cocktail bar near the quiet pool. Walk out of the hotel and there are lovely restaurants all the way down to Hisaronu which is great and the food is very cheap and good i loved it down there. The trips are good and cheap for what you get. If your thinking of going dont let the negative reviews put you off for what we paid we got a real bargain and loved every minute of it, i read reviews saying they were so bored they were in bed by 9.30 ? i never went before 2.30 and enjoyed the banter at the bar with the bar staff and holiday makers alike, enjoy."

A wonderful holiday
"We arrived at the hotel around 3.30am not knowing what to expect after reading varied reviews. We were pleasantly greeted at reception and a porter whisked our luggage to our room. We had a fabulous room with magnificent views. the hotel was very clean, the staff were very friendly and the food was absolutely lovely. We had such a good holiday that we are already saving to come back next year. Thankyou to all the staff for making this such a lovely place to stay."

Don't believe what you read
"My husband and I booked this hotel as we were looking for an inexpensive holiday and because of the price we paid, were not expecting a great deal. However, we were pleasantly surprised. The staff were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We arrived at about 6am and were promptly checked in and out bags carried to our room. Our room was clean and spacious with a lovely bathroom. The balcony, however, was not big enough to sit on and the wall was so high that I had to stand on my tip-toes to see anything! That said, the only thing we used the balcony for was drying our clothes as we were too busy socialising at the pool and bar with other residents. The food was excellent with plenty of choices (definitely NOT for the fish and chip brigade) mostly consisting of traditional Turkish fayre.. Breakfast was continental style with lots of salads, breads, meats & cheeses and fresh omlettes cooked to order. Lunch and dinner always had several choices and a soup, again with loads of fresh salads. We spent most of our daytime hours at the quiet relax pool away from the rammy of the family pool with all the noise and pandemonium that comes with loads of kids in one place. Drinks were fine and the bar staff were definitely not shy at replenishing empty glasses. All in all, a fabulous holiday. Don't let all of the negative reviews put you off."
