rambo makes a best chicken curry.
"Tosunoglu Apart Otel
I have stayed at the tosunoglu wıth a few frıends for the last 3 years and its perfect! Good friend of Rambo,s
We arrived around 2:30 in the morning and was greated by Rambo who showed us to our room.
The prices of drinks and food are very reasonable as well as the measures!! The food is outstanding and is all freshly cooked by Rambo the bar man. rambo makes a best chicken curry.
Rambo, Jimmy and Mustafa are fantastic! So polite and great entertainment. Rambo helped us out on a number of occasions and even recommended the best resturants and places to see offering to book us excursions at fair prices.
It's about a 10/15 minute walk into the main bar street of Gumbet and the beach which is a good distance and not so far away that you need a taxi.
Gumbet in general is a place revolved around bars and clubs - I recommend Outback Bar and Mr Frogs Karaoke Bar and xbar
cheap drinks and good music: The Family Door Restaurants Bar fantastic Food As you step out of the entrance to the apartments, your turn left then turn right walk couple mins and on the right.
THE SHOP ACROSS THE ROAD - What a fantastic family!!! they were so nice to us, they look after you.
Dont buy your trips from the the main strip in Gumbet just ask Rambo.
Definately go to on a boat trip, The Aqua Park is a good day out, We went to halikarnas crazy foam party"

Best people you could ever wish to meet!xxxx
"We have stayed at the tosunoglu for the last 3 years and its perfect! Beautiful rooms and very spacious and beautiful surroundings with a perfect pool. The people are amazing and we could not have been made to feel any more welcome. Rambo works behind the bar and some how manages to keep smiling even though he works so many hours! He has always made our stay even more worthwhile and would do anything at all for you and constantly makes you laugh and smile, a superb man, great company and extremely hard worker. We would also recommend his food, he makes the best cottage/shepards pie and also chicken curry. The owners are an amazing family who also work very hard to ensure you have a very comfortable and happy time at the hotel. I would recommend this place to anyone so get packing and we'll see you there next year!!!xxx
love Jenny George, Harry and Jacquie.xxxxxxx"

brilliant holiday... perfect
"stayed at the tosunoglu for 2 weeks and was a bit wary after reading a previous review... what can i say, the place was fantastic... only downside being that the beds could have been changed more often. Rambo and mustafa are the best cooks ever and little jimmy is just so lovely. They couldnt do enough for yopu. The previous report on rambo been mentally untrue must be a complete myth as both myself and my other half thought he was a top bloke, hardworking and fantastic with the kids... I would also recommend trying casablanca for food while your out there as it was gorgeous!!!! The happy pub and ali baba karaoke pub which are next to each other are really easy going decent pubs too and ali is a complete nutcase!!!! If you plan on staying at this hotel you wont be disappointed.. Enjoy your trip.. xx"

Fantastic, Fantastic, Fantastic Hotel!!
"I travelled to this hotel with a friend as a last minute trip. As two 21 year old girls we were slightly worried about going to Turkey on our own after hearing certain "horror stories" but we couldnt have been more wrong - no at one single point of the holiday did we feel unsafe or "letched upon!"
We arrived around 6:30 in the morning and was greated by the security guard who showed us to our room - he couldn't speak much english but was very friendly and at that time we didn't feel like much of a cpnversation. The apartments are HUGE! The living, kitchen and dining area is very spacious with a table and 4 chairs, sofa and a kitchen. There were 2 beds in the bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room which was plenty for us. They only downside to the place was the slightly tempremental shower which couldnt decide if it was going to scold us or freeze us but once you got used to it shower time was pretty quick! Aircon is avaliable for the living area but not the bedroom. You can hire fans for £10 so the duration of your Holiday which we chose to do.
We took a walk up into Gumbet on our first day and you are literally 5 minute walk from "Bar Street" and all the resturants. We didn't find any of the men inviting you in too agressive or full on but very friendly and chatty, once we said we weren'y interested we were thanked for our time and left to leave. We loved the location for the fact we were minutes walk and yet could not hear a single thing from the hotel!
The Pool area and Bar itself are perfect for a family break. With just 32 apartments its a very family and homely feeling place to have a laugh and a chill out - you are so close to the rooms that you can wonder back and forth as you please. The Pool is one of the biggest in Gumbet as it was built before the area was "hyped up" and now hotels are being placed in smaller plots and pool areas downsized.
The prices of drinks and food are very reasonable as well as the measures!! The food is outstanding and is all freshly cooked by Rambo the bar man and his 2 helpers. We recommend the Pasta and the "best chip butty" EVER!!
I have read a certain review (along with a few others we met at the hotel) where someone has dug into Rambo the barman - I think jealousy may have played a part in this review and some female rejection!! Rambo, Jimmy and Mustafa are fantastic! So polite and great entertainment. Rambo helped us out on a number of occasions and even recommended the best resturants and places to see.
The family who run the hotel are very friendly and make you feel part of this "Tosunoglu Family" - Memet and Ebo are always on hand to help out no matter how small. Memet's children are just delightful and entertained us on a number of occasions around the pool with their dancing skills.
We went self catering and would recommend it all the way. We ate at a number of different resturants throughout the week and would recommend - The Windy Bay (FANTASTIC!! Ask Anyone you meet!!), The Colombia (Just next door!) and The Family Room. We were warned to stay away from The Tempo and another resturant on the beach beginning with M - can't for the life of me remember but did meet alot of people who fell ill from eating at the two so we stayed well away. But as I said the food at the hotel was fantastic and the atmosphere kept us there all night long (as two 21 year old girls who "should have been out clubbing" we couldnt help but want to spend all the time with the staff and the great people we met.
We are already planning a trip back and won't stop raving about it for a long time yet! Defo worth more than it's 2*'s by far!!!"

2nd time visit - fantastic as before
"last year 38 of us went to tosunoglu, this year 14 which incs adults, teens, young children. Pool area 2nd to none!!! bar food amazing & great value, rooms spacious, location quiet but easy reach of centre.
The owners are very obliging and do anything they can, the staff are brilliant, especially rambo who we have known 2 years now, many of the other guests we met are on 3,4,5 and even 6 year returns which speaks volumes for them. Mustafa and Jimmy are brilliant too !!! Rambo is in his 6th year and is a good cook and amazing person, despite the review below. I have never seen or would imagine him behavin in that manner. He is very friendly, nothing is too much trouble and he likes to have a joke and a laugh, i would trust him with my daughter any day !!! I cant imagine he would take to kindly to be talked down too but neither would i in any job!! He messes about and has a joke, and perhaps this has been misread, but that is definately not the rambo i know, and he definately NOT mentally ill and that is unfair and slanderous. As for his hair loss what has that to do with a hotel review, it looks like someone didnt take to rambo and wants to slaughter him on here!!! Im sure others who know him well will speak out in his defence anyway.
As for the holiday, brilliant as usually thats why we all keep going back !!!"

Clean hotel, great pool, friendly staff, good food, disturbing barman
"On arrival at the Tosunoglu Apart Otel we were blown away by the size of the pool area. We arrived at around midnight and the bar area was pretty much deserted, but we had purposely booked during term time so this wasn't too much of a surprise. Very impressed with the apartments themselves, which were perfect for what we needed - bed/shower/toilet. Very clean and large apartments that can sleep up to 4 easily. Top floor also gets a balcony that faces in towards the pool area. Air con available, but it was pretty windy during our stay so we just opened all the (many) windows.
We booked out a safe (which I'd recommend doing on every holiday you go on) and then headed to the bar, where we met the star of the show: 'Rambo'. Initially he seemed pretty friendly, offering to book us excursions at fair prices (which they were to be honest). However midway through the holiday he became obsessed with a female guest, and despite her repeated warnings, he wouldn't stop offering to "watch the sunset with her" or "give her a massage". He then took a disliking to us because we started speaking to her by the pool, and on one occasion he personally warned me away from her as she was 'his girl'. He spent the last few days with sulky teenage face on, which incidentally matched his back-to-front baseball cap used to disguise the fact he only had 6 hairs left on his head, creating not only an uncomfortable atmosphere for us, but also making the female guest feel really uneasy - especially since she had another week left at the hotel. This guy really was a bit mentally ill - amazingly he accused us of setting up a trap of broken glass so that he would cut his hand when he was clearing a table!
I wouldn't recommend the hotel to small female-only parties solely because of this one barman, although saying this if the hotel manager has read any of our feedback he won't be working there anymore.
I'd say the Tosunoglu Apart Otel is perfect for families - there's also a small children's pool and the rest of the staff are really nice and very friendly, and have children of their own. Sheets and towels were changed about 3 times during our stay - I got the impression if you asked they'd change them when you wanted. They were pretty stingy with toliet rolls however, but again if you asked you could get more. There is a mosque nearby that calls to prayer during the day - but I quite liked it - added to the atmosphere, and it didn't ever wake me up.
It's about a 10/15 minute walk into the main bar street of Gumbet and the beach which is a good distance I think - far enough away from the music to get some sleep and not so far away that you need a taxi. I wouldn't recommend walking home alone too late after a night out however - it's easy to take a wrong turn one of us got cornered by a few Turkish youths, another got hit by a restaurant owner and I received a rather physical indecent proposal by a prostitute!
Gumbet in general is a place revolved around bars and clubs - I recommend Outback Bar and Shakers for drinks and good music, then the Heartbreak Club - air con and open until 8am. Try the Windmill for food - great view of Gumbet and nice open air balcony with great food. Bartering doesn't seem as welcome as it was when I went to Gumbet a few years ago. You could easily get a few bottles of wine thrown in for big parties, now the owner is more likely to lie to get you into their restaurant or take offence that you are trying to whittle down the prices!"

Excellent base for Gumbet!
"Having just come back from gumbet, I felt i had to write this review to people going, to put your minds at rest!
Arrived at 3pm to a lovely clean pool area. We were shown to our apartment, which was rather spacious yet basic (to be expected in turkey).
There was two single beds that we pushed together, id advise you take your own pillow - we stayed for two weeks and it was uncomfy.
Make sure u buy the air con on the first day, also ask if you can do a deal to include the safety deposit box too, we got this at a reduced rate.
RAMBO - runs the apartments Bar and is quite pushy wanting you to eat there at night, we just told him we came SC so we could eat out...
The towels and bedding could have done with a few more changes, but dont let this put you off..
THE RESORT :
Lovely place, nice restaurants, bars and shops!
The places we loved were : THE COLOMBIAN - Does a fantastic meal deal, A garlic bread starter, Then a massive (the best steak we found in Gumbet) T bone steak, and a bottle of beer for 25 lira...
There are other deals here too, and you get a bottle of wine free with the meal too... This was our fav place to eat.
As you step out of the entrance to the apartments, your turn right, then walk to the end of the road till you get to a junction, turn left and walk a couple mins and on the left is kennys bar - they do fab cocktails and ROMEO and SHAUN here are lovely!!!
THE SHOP ACROSS THE ROAD - What a fantastic family!!! they were so nice to us, they look after you and will freeze bottles of water for you.. they knew bits of english and would teach you turkish phrases too.. lovely family!
We also ate at THE PLAZA - the mexican steak here is amazing! Also the waiter ALI is lovely!!!
Dont buy your trips from the tour rep - go onto the main strip in Gumbet and buy yor own, they are really cheap...
Definately go to the TURKISH BATHS on the first day of your holiday... I came back with a gorgeous dark brown tan after having one of these...
The Aqua Park is a good day out,
We did the trip to DALYAN - i wouldnt do it again - its 4hrs on a coach there and 4hrs back - wouldnt recommend...
We went to BODRUM a couple of nights but found it to be too busy, go around 6pm as it is cooler then and you can see the place coming to life with all the lights...
The MARKET is there on a tuesday, its really busy!!! but you can get some bargins - make sure you dont accept their first price!
OVERALL - lovely place, nice people, Fantastic weather!!! DEFINATELY do the PARAGLIDING TRIP - it was £80 for the day - inc food drink & paraglidng - we loved it - the beach were you go is fantastic and clear waters, take ur bikini!!
The people who do the paragliding are the loveliest people we met in turkey - we are coming back nexy year just to do this again!!
The company is CERAMOS PARAGLIDING!!!
Enjoy your stay in Gumbet

I will leave it to you to decide.....
"This apartment complex is rated as 2* and that is about the mark for this hotel although it has the potential to be much better.
The good points:-
1. Location. The Hotel is at the edge of Gumbet and within a 15-20 minute walk to Bodrum. It takes about 5 minutes to walk to the ever popular bar street in Gumbet.
2. Outside Areas. The pool and bar areas are kept immaculately clean with the staff constantly checking the pool. The pool is also quite large for such a smll complex.
3. Staff. The staff are all very friendly and make you feel very welcome as you would expect from a family owned complex.
The bad points:-
1 Rooms. Although the rooms are large they are sparcely decorated (to be expected from a 2* hotel). All rooms have twin beds but it quie easy to push them together. There was quite a spacious living/dining/kitchen area, a small shower room and 1 bedroom (although it looked like the couch in the living area was actually a bed settee).
The kitchenette facilities were rather basic consisting of a kettle, a two ring electric plate, a fridge and a limited choice of utensils. This didn't bother us as we had no intention of cooking anything ourselves but this would be frustrating for anyone who did wish to cook.
2. Cleanliness. On arrival, whilst the room wasn't up to my standard of cleanliness (and I admit I do have issues!) it wasn't bad for Turkey.
However, the floors were only mopped once during our week long stay so by the end of the week the rooms were a bit of a mess to say the least. All of the floors were tiled and so dirty footprints trailed you everywhere once you had a shower as the shower room just got soaking wet- and we are not dirty people! There was also nothing in the room except a manky old brush to be able to do any cleaning youself - not that I wanted to anyhow.
The towels were changed three times and the bedding twice - although there were more stains on the "clean" towels and bedding than there were on the dirty ones!
On our last night, whilst we were out, the "cleaners" decorated our beds with flowers and made our towels into heart shapes - nice but to be fair I would rather they had mopped the floor!
4. Noise. The hotel was in a quiet area of Gumbet but the music in the hotel bar was sometines quite loud in the evenings - especially at 3am some mornings when they had "new arrivals" who were obviously gagging for their first beers! Also there must have been a mosque quite close by as the call to prayer woke us most mornings at around 5am.
My overall impression of this hotel is that it is a good base for Gumbet/Bodrum with a lovely outside area/pool. However the only thing that lets it down is the cleanliness (or rather lack of) in the rooms which could easily be resolved."
