"My brother (21) and I (26) stayed at Green House in the first week of September 2009. I have been to many other holiday resorts over the years including some of the Greek and Spanish islands, but I have to say, Green House, and Gumbet as a resort, topped the lot. Green House was the perfect place to stay during our week long adventure in the Turkish resort. Green House has two decent size swimming pools, fantastic new bathrooms, a really great bar that opens until the early hours, a great restaurant with superb cuisine and VERY helpful and friendly staff. The 24 hour mini-bus stop is right outside the front entrance of Green House, therefore getting to Bodrum couldn’t have been made any easier. The condition of Green House impressed me the most, as well as the authentic feel about the place. My brother and I were, as usual, expecting the worst, as our holiday was very much on a budget, but we really couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. Green House definitely ticked all the right boxes and I doubt I’ll ever find a better place to stay. As for the location of Green House, well, it’s literally 10 minutes walk to the beach, where you can do a wide range of water sports and a bit of relaxing too. Green House is also situated just 5 minutes walk away from Bar Street, where the clubs really kick into life after midnight. Green House is perfectly situated and perfectly run. I really enjoyed my stay at Green House and would recommend it highly from people on clubbing holidays to couples and families. "

"I stayed at green house for two weeks aug 2009. Appartments were grand as was location. Staff friendly. Balconys were tootsie. In my opinion only problem was the sun bench wars. No matter how early i got up the towels were on. I always got a bench but in a place where sun was gone by 3 o clock. A lot of peole put towels on and appeared late in day. I made it on my last day only to get told off by a snooty english woman. And i was doing no harm as i love sitting reading early in the morning by the pool. But sure there people like her everywhere and it didnt spoil my holiday. \i would recommend these appartments to any one. Clean as a pin. I left last Monday night to the sounds of my english woman (who moaned about towels on benches) singing I never promised you a rose garden. It was a good time to leave. "

"myself my husband and two kids 16 and 24 booked the greenhouse apartments through thomas cook, when i went online to check the reviews i was horrified!!!!! dirty rooms, unpleasant staff and bad food so i packed everything from extra towels, cleaning products and even my own cups but to say i was pleased was an understatment, this place is great!!! the rooms were spotless they changed the towels every other day but if you needed more they were happy to give them to you, our beds were changed every 3rd day but again if you asked the lovely cleaner it wasnt a problem. from the very moment we arrived the staff gave us their full attention they set up games in the pool every afternoon for the older kids and there was something on in the bar area every night i love my sleep and was a little worried about the noise but i wasnt kept awake at all.please do not let yourself be put of staying in the greenhouse by reading those crap reviews yes i am from ireland and we have the same standards as everyone else if anything mine are quite high this holiday to gumbet was my 8th and i have stayed in some really bad apartments but we are booking the greenhouse for next year and thats a first for us.
the food and drink in the green house is about the cheapest around but watch the little guy in the shop he could overcharge you a good bit on what your buying.and dont go to the medical center on a sat or sun its double time we got charged £2oo just to tell us my daughter had a sore ear other than that go and enjoy yourself you will have a great time . "Ah seriously readin some of the comments (bad) about greenhouse i was big time shocked!! were these people even stayin in the greenhouse???? i have stayed once in 2004 and 2007 and both times i had a ball.... the rooms were cleaned everyday one of the cleaners used to make little flower shapes out of the towels on our beds for us! never had a prob with bed sheets not being changed as the cleaners were in each day about 10am and always left the place lovely doin dishes the lot!! My fiancee's parents have been going this 5years to Greenhouse and love it and everything about it so i do urge everyone not to worry as you will have a brill time stayin there, its suitable for all and the staff are fun, and so friendly!! just be careful with wet flip flops on the concrete stairs as i slipped and bruised badly last time i was there but all n all a cracking wee place to stay x"

I have traveled the world extensively -...

" I have traveled the world extensively - staying at first class hotels, as well as more basic SC accommodation - however - I have never experienced anything quite like the Greenhouse Apartments in Gumbet.

On arrival I was astonished to discover the apartment was neither clean nor tidy - and provided what can only be described as the most basic of accommodation. The beds (singles) - were extremely uncomfortable & very old. There were no sheets per say - just thin blankets that were scruffy & dirty.

We tried to go for a shower - but the shower wasn't working & the toilet was blocked.

In a week our bedding was never changed & the towels were changed once - they had seen better days - and had holes in them & were "chewing gum white"

The apartment is split level - which is incredibly steep staircase - that is almost impossible to take a suitcase up. I don't know how people with children or older people would cope.

The overall appearance of the apartment was shabby & dirty.

Whilst we were there several of the apartments had items & cash stolen from them - this didn't inspire much confidence!

The music at the pool bar started at 11am & finished at 5am - every night - regardless of whether anyone was there or not. The music was played at full volume and I know from talking to other guests that they too found it difficult to sleep.

The facilities are pretty basic - and for a SC apartment in Turkey - it was as I expected. I am not sure how people come back year after year to this sort of level of accommodation - I can only presume that they haven't traveled much.

Gumbet itself is tacky. It is full of stalls/shops selling outrageous copies of designer goods & scruffy restaurants selling full English breakfasts. The average holiday maker here is your typical "Brit abroad" - complete with union Jack shorts, beer belly & tattoos. It's a shame - because if you venture a little further up the coast to Bodrum Marina you get a real taste of Turkey & the lovely Turkish people.

The restaurants are over rated & expensive for what they are. I have seen reviews where people have praised "The Mandarin Chinese" - OMG! It was scruffy & they didn't have the ribs that were on the menu - along with other things. We ordered some Turkish Mezes (I know.. in a Chinese restaurant).. and they brought us 4 other dishes. When I questioned them, they said it was because the things we had ordered were not available! I have never experienced that before.

Public opinion on the Greenhouse Apts seemed to be split - people either loved it & returned year on year or they thought it was extremely dirty & scruffy (as we did). This seems to depend on your individual level of expectation. We were very disappointed - as we have stayed in various 3* accommodation in Spain & Italy - which would seem like 5* compared to the Greenhouse Apts. I am unsure as to how Holidays 4 U have come up with the 3* entitlement?

Whilst we were on holiday there - one full afternoon & evening the whole pool area was closed to paying guests - as the owners were hosting a wedding!!!! Forcing those of us staying there to leave our sun loungers just after midday & unable to use the bar or restaurant area.

In terms of food the menu was basic - cheese toasties or sandwiches - and these were over priced & lack luster. It seems a shame that they didn't offer at least one Turkish dish.

Needless to say - we will not be returning to the Greenhouse Apartments or Gumbet again. This holiday cost £700 for two of us - excluding spending money. I suggest if you are looking for a good value trip, with guaranteed weather, within the same price bracket you go to Sharm El Sheikh or Taba.
