Where have others stayed if they think this is good?
"The rooms are very dated, 1 plug socket in ours, right at the bottom of the garden. No lights down path at night, said they had no bulbs? All 10 nights? Rubbish, old tables, ladders, broken beds all dumped down side of our room. A big concrete girder hung down in our room, my husband 6'2" had to walk round the room stooped over, even had to bend down to get into bathroom. The people who rave about this hotel, (which is why i booked it in the first place), i just wonder where they have ever stayed before? It is like going back over 20 years ago. On a good note i would like to say most of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The cleaning ladies did a great job too. Towels changed every day and beds every other day. Rooms kept very clean. This hotel needs a good clean up of the grounds and the trees need a good prune, we had to bend in 2 to get passed them they were so overgrown and hung down. Letoon, please spend some money on the place, you are in a great position in Calis."

I just wonder where other people who rave about this hotel have stayed before??
"We stayed for 10 nights at Letoon Hotel Calis Beach, my husband and myself were given a ground floor family room, it was right at the bottom of the path that runs between the blocks. On almost each evening it was pitch black walking through the gardens, when i asked the staff for lights to be put on, they told me that all bulbs had gone!! Our outside lights didn't work, we only had 1 plug socket in our room that worked. My husband is 6' 2" he couldn't walk around our room as there was a concrete beam across the ceiling around 5' 6" high. I could only just avoid it without hitting my head. My husband had to bend down to get through the door and again before he could get through the bathroom door. The room we were in was supposed to be a family room, it had 3 beds in, yet there was only room for my husband to hang his shirts in the smallest, built in cupboard you could imagine, i lived out of my suitcase for the 10 nights. (Good job there was only 2 of us). We never had hot water in a morning, and at night had to have the shower running for at least 10 minutes before any hot water came through. Not even a hook on the bathroom door. As we walked along the path to the bar/restaurant, down each side of our block there were broken ladders, a childs bed, broken tables etc, we even had to bend right down to get past a tree which was very overgrown and hung down. This place needs a very good overall, the gardens could be lovely, the grapefruit trees and the rest of the fruit trees, just need a bit of TLC. On the plus side, the bar/restaurant staff were very friendly, the cleaners who did a fantastic job of cleaning our room were excellent, we got clean towels everyday and our beds were changed every other day. The Letoon is in a lovely position on Calis Beach, but is just in dire need of a lick of paint and a few home touches. It wouldn't take much to improve the place at all, maybe next year when we visit Calis Beach, (At a different Hotel) we will see if any effort has been made to improve the place."

Great choice for a bargain holiday
"My boyfriend and I were looking for a cheap package holiday to a destination without the Euro, and preferably without the chavs. We settled on the Fethiye/Calis beach area of Turkey which was supposed to be much quieter than the big resorts of Bodrum and Marmaris. Lonely Planet also described Fethiye as having a more "backpacker vibe" than other resorts, which sounded right up our street! We've been used to staying in backpacker hostels of all standards over the last few years so we weren't fazed by a 2* hotel, but after noticing that the Letoon came up quite often in the cheap holiday search results, we decided to check out Trip Advisor to make sure it wasn't a complete dive. We were ultimately persuaded by the great reviews that fellow travellers had given this hotel, and when we finally got to Calis Beach and checked in at the hotel, we weren't disappointed! Hotel Letoon is run by a very friendly staff and, contrary to my expectations, the staff were not pushy in the slightest in terms of selling tours and activities. They were helpful when asked and friendly when serving you, but other than that, they left us to our own devices, which we appreciated. We booked a "promo room" as part of our package holiday, and so I was a little worried that we were going to end up with a tiny room with twin beds. However, I was pleasantly surprised. Not only did we have a double bed but we also had a spare single bed (which turned into our suitcase storage area/dumping ground - sorry to the maids for the corner of destruction!). The room was spacious, extremely clean and made up every day. On our last night they even left flowers on the bed which was a nice touch! The only quibble I had was that our shower was a little temperamental in terms of temperature and the slot that you put your key into to turn on the electricity was a little dodgy (but we had both of these sussed out by the end of the week!). The facilities provided by the hotel were excellent. The pool was a lovely space to chill out and relax (but to all those people who just sit there all day every day getting brown leathery skin, please! Do yourselves a favour and get out of the hotel! Fethiye is lovely! And please put suncream on!). The breakfast which was included in the price of the room was delicious and there was a choice of several dishes. Tour booking was available, although we found we got slightly better deals by haggling with the tour companies along the beach or even in Fethiye. The hotel also offered a Turkish night and on Sundays, a traditional (English!) Sunday roast and if you wanted a full English breakfast instead of the free breakfast, you could pay extra for this. We were not in the slightest bit interested in any of these things as we'd come to see Turkey, not Brits Abroad! That was the only slight disappointment for us - Calis beach is very much a Brits On Tour type of destination. If that's what you want out of your holiday, then fine by you, but it does make me sad to hear fat, middle aged, leather-skinned British men and women complaining that the tea isn't PG Tips, the shop had run out of The Daily Mail and "I wish that bloody wailing man [the imam at the mosque calling to prayer] would shut up!". Although it was much quieter than other big clubbing resorts, and I imagine far less tacky than some of these big resorts, there still seemed to be the expectation amongst other holiday makers that everything would be the same as at home, but with more sunshine. You can get a fry up, roast dinner, fish and chips and The Sun newspaper everywhere you go, and for entertainment you can watch all British football and rugby matches. One bar was even showing The X Factor! When we leave England, we do so for exactly that reason - to leave England behind and explore new destinations, food, cultures and religions. Fortunately, Fethiye, just a short bus or boat ride away is much more authentically Turkish. We met some lovely Turkish people, ate real Turkish food (which was more tasty and a lot cheaper than the restaurants along Calis Beach!) and had some real Turkish experiences. That's what a holiday is about for me."

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED HOTEL
"The location of the hotel is perfect - right on the beach and at the quieter end of the resort. The staff are friendly and helpful and really make the holiday... The Turkish Night is great - you have gorgeous Turkish food and dancing for about a tenner each. Breakfast included with quite a good choice - you pay extra for a full English if you want it (not much about a fiver). Make sure you get to the bar for 7.20 p.m. to see the most spectacular sunset!! Rooms are basic but clean and the maid comes in every day. Air con well worth it for £20 per week. Pool lovely with plenty of sunbeds and shade and a nice atmosphere. Library with plenty of books to choose from... We will definately return in the future sometime...."

had a lovely, relaxing break
"Location fantastic, right on the beach and at the quiet end of Calis. The room was basic, but large and cleaned every day. The staff are helpful and very friendly (one particular member of staff a bit too friendly !) The food at the Letoon is OK, not great - try Georges restaurant instead which is a bit further down. There was only one plug socket in the room, with another in the bathroom (not good for 2 girls with hairdryer, straighters, Ipod speakers, kettle etc etc). The pool was busy, particularly at the weekend, so we went to the beach instead. The resort itself is very much family orientated, so dont go expecting to party, although there are a couple of good bars (B52, Bus Stop & Scarletts). Overall, had a lovely relaxing break, but more for families with kids."

Amazing location; wonderful people; good value for money!
"We booked the hotel online, and chose it because of the location - we were not disappointed. The hotel is located at the quiet end of Callis Beach - perfect. The staff at the hotel couldn't have been any friendlier - we felt that we were visiting family. The rooms were very clean - and we had a maid service daily The pool and the restaurant were all maintained and clean - and the food in the restaurant was good value for money - and tasty. We will definitely be returning to Hotel Letoon - probably time, and time again. Restaurants that we ate at and found so good that we would recommend are - Nils Place, and Bambu - both excellent and both extremely good value for money."

Perfect location and base for a relaxed holiday, but close enough to other areas if you prefure a bit more excitment.
"A very relaxed atmosphere, The basic rooms were plenty big enough and very clean. Fresh towels and bedding daily. decent sized pool that was also clean. Breakfast was relaxed and made fresh to order. Only two things we would have changed. A fridge would have been nice to keep water etc cool. And during our first week the pool was increasingy filled with local people. Not a huge problem, but ther obviouse 'micky taking' of some of the residents became quite intimidating as thier numbers grew over the week. To the extent that we left the pool area. Fortunatly this problem was sorted as soon as it was pointed out to the managment. A perfect base for a great holiday. We stayed on an extra week and the staff were very helpfull making our arrangments. Hoping to go back later in the year."

Letoon Hotel Calis Beach
"Travelled to the Letoon Hotel on Calis Beach on 14 June 2009. We had a brilliant week and met some lovely people. The hotel although one the oldest on the beach is also one, if not the best. It is immaculatly clean and the staff are brilliant . They can not do enough for you. The sheets and towels were changed every day and the rooms although small and functional are very clean. Lovely pool area and right on the beach for when you fancy a change. If you go on the beach use the beds next to the big blue tent as the sun beds are free and they come with big soft cushions. Although some greedy people like to have two per bed. They do nice snacks as well that are reasonably priced. We were bed and breakfast and the breakfasts were freshly prepared to order. Infact we had a couple of evening meals as well and again all fresh and very good value for money. We did not have a bad meal whist there and the best was in the Bambu Restarant. Go to Calis Beach and relax. Watch the most beautiful sunset you are likely to see any where and meet the friendly locals. We booked with Flyoo and the Thursday before we were due to fly Scottravel who our flight was booked with went bust. Flyoo sorted our flights for us and although we had to fly from Glasgow rather then Edinburgh there was no extra charge or any thing else added. Excellant service from Flyoo as well."

Basic but clean and right on the beach.
"My partner and I stayed here in May '09. The room was basic (no fridge or tea/coffee making facities) but it was clean and we got fresh towels dail and fresh bedding every second day. Calis is a great resort. It's mainly just one long seafornt promenade lined with restrants/ bars. It's not got a big night life but there are a couple of livlier pubs near the bridge and Fethiye is a 10-20 minute dolomus trip away. Some sites claim that Calis is within walking distance of Fethiye. Not true. It's a long walk. The water taxi cost's about 4 TL and is worth going on at least once but we found it took quite a while compared to the Dolomus, which was 1.5TL per person and runs every 10 minutes or so. Turkish baths are a MUST and very affordable at about 10 TL."

Cool place to chill out
"We stayed at this hotel at the end of June 08 with a family group and loved how laid back it was. The staff are really friendly, Nevra and Efe in particular. The rooms are on the basic side but they are really clean and the air conditioning is really cold !!! It is at the quiet end of calis beach but it's only about a 10 minute walk to be right in the centre of it all, everyone we spoke to had been there before and some of the people had been 7 or 8 times which says a lot for a hotel. Overall I would recommend it if you are looking for a quiet get away."
