4 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"I really cannot believe Thomas Cook sell this as a 4 star hotel. If it scraped a 2 star I would be amazed. Stayed there for a treat for the last day of our holiday expecting to be pampered. Well how wrong we were. We arrived at our destination with our guide who never spoke a word. We found our own way to reception where we were greeted by a receptionist who barely spoke. After taking our details we had to ask what happens next. She just said "Go to restaurant" which we did. Breakfast was cheese, what looked like runny porridge and green salad and bread, all surrounded by copious amounts of flies. There is no english tea just fruit tea. There is no milk either just a yoghurt drink and watered down fruit juice. The coffee is not real coffee either.
We wondered what happens next so made our way back to reception (all the while trailing suitcases behind us). We were then given our keys. Made our way to our rooms and WOW it hadn't been cleaned after the last batch of unfortunates who stayed there. We were told to go away for an hour. Which we did. The room its self was basically a single room with a double bed squeezed in. The bathroom was disgusting with stains in the toilet and in serious need of a makeover.
The spa is an absolute joke and please be warned the Aquapark is one slide open for half an hour twice a day. There are 2 jacuzzies. One didn't work at all and had wires hanging out. The other worked but both were filthy. Also I thought Therme meant hot or at least warm. Not at Therme Maris. Perhaps they should rename it Filthy, Freezing Con Maris. The outside facilities were just as bad. All the swimming pools had a build up of scum on them and things floating in it. I know this is natural but it's no good cleaning it off at 4pm. One pool was even empty and the mud bath pictured was not the one you will be using. The pool where you exercise your legs/feet was downright painful and cut feet. There were frogs swimming in the asthma cave and the whole place was seriously neglected.
The lunch and evening meal was basically the same as breakfast with the addition of a luke warm chicken dish, some other unidentifiable warm food, soup and yes more flies.
It's nothing like the brochure. I'm bloody annoyed to have been taken in by this and will be writing to Thomas Cook to complain.

Terrible. People need to be warned
"We booked a thermal therapy departure day with thomas cook - £57.00 pp this included travel there /full use of facilities / lunch & dinner and transfer to airport which is 5 mins away and of course a room. Sounded perfect well yes it was too good to be true.
7:45 we were picked up from our beautiful hotel onto a nice aircon coach with a nice rep. all seemed good. THEN in a dirty lay by we were swapped onto a hot dirty smelly tour bus.
When we got to the Thermemaris it looked very nice. The sulphur smell was overpowering and I tried very hard to get used to it. I never did but this is not a bad point, its natural nothing they could do.
Our first room was z1 - disgusting. a dungeuon. A huge window that was covered in mesh and wouldn't close... Hardly safe was it?! The bathroom was filthy. yellow stains on all the bathtowels.. I never want to know what the stains were. The small fridge had brown mould and the floor was covered in brown spots? So we asked to be moved and were told to wait an hour, the man was very nice about it and got us an improved room. it was still very cramped and the bathroom was dirty by there were no broken windows.
FOOD - Well in the 16 hrs I was there I ate 3 slices of bread and 2 coffees. The restaurant was dirty. uncovered food and flies EVERYWHERE.I saw the chef pick some food off the side that had fallen and chuck it back in the bowl!!!
So i thought the best option was go to the mini market and get something sealed to eat, Well that was a joke. it had 3 things on the shelves and charged us 20TL for water and 2 ice creams.
Facilities- okay. no atmosphere no help or assistance unless u were dutch or german. I fell over on the grass the staff looked over but didnt even bat an eyelid. The chlorine swimming pools were mouldy and the sunbeds need a wash!
It looks like a run down ghost town. The turtles were the highlight. Beautiful view if you ca stop yourself heaving.
Room was boiling even with aircon and stank. The bathroom was horrid and u felt dirter once u had washed.
I think we were given dodgy rooms as we were just "one dayers".
It gets worst..... we were told to be at reception for 1am. we got there at 12:40am. 1:10am - nothing but a rude man saying "are you with diana travel? us:"yes" man: "bus gone, why didnt you get it? you should have got on it. you have missed it." WHICH he found SO funny. This was the final straw and I think the whole hotel was woken by my shouting. He was shrugging his rude shoulders saying it was our fault. eventually another car got called and we were collected 35 mins later with the man still talking about us to other members of staff, all but one laughing and shrugging. It turned out the bus driver had just picked up 4 others, knowing he was meant to get 6 and didnt bother coming to reception.
Please don't let your last day become ruined like ours did."

"We stayed in SPA Hotel Thermemaris for 3 nights in the beginning of Mart 2008. We arrived late in the evening. The check in was made quickly and efficient. Our laguagge was delivered to our nice and clean room in the third floor. Even we were offered a small dinner as we arrived very late and the official dinner time was over.
All the staffs were very helpfully and had a good command of the english language. I would highly recommend you the SPA Center and the Beauty Center with will offer you a excellent selection of treatments.
The Hotel has undergone a renovation at the end of the last year and can offer you now also a normal water swimming pool in front of the Hotel.
The Food and Beverages are over the standard of a 4 star Hotel.
We will come back in September for holiday."

Filthy with clueless staff
"We stayed in the Thermemaris on the last night of our 10-day visit to Turkey because we were flying out of Dalaman airport, which is 5 mins away, the next day. The hotel was so grim, it was enough to quickly snap us out of vacation mode.
As we arrived, we were "greeted" by a young man wearing no shirt, with his swim trunks halfway down his bottom, bearing the better part of his underwear. We were worried he wasn't with the hotel, so ignored him at first, only to find out he was in charge of "outdoor activities". I think for good reason no one ever went to these activities, so he spent the better part of his day hanging around and trying to slime up to women in the group.
The rooms in the hotel were so disgustingly dirty, it is unpleasant to remember. Worse is that the hotel "management" has seeming no control processes in place.
When we arrived in our room, we edged the bed over a few inches, only to reveal a pile of old labels, candy wrappers, tissues, hair, dustballs, etc. There was hair under the blankets on both beds (a lot). There was hair on the floor. There were smudged brownish/red stains on the walls. In the bathrooms, the toilet paper holder was covered with a metal plate that was an oozy mix of black and brown due to all of the caked on urine that had splattered onto it, which had seemingly not been cleaned in weeks. Ditto the handle in the shower. There was hair on the toilet seat. The water nozzle and drain in the sink also had caked on dirt. When we insisted the manager come up to the room, he saw the mess, summoned the cleaning women, and they proceeded to wipe the floor with a rag, which they then used (without even rinsing it!) to wipe the toilet and other bathroom surfaces!!! Needless to say, after this we did not partake in the dinner at the hotel.
Oh yes - the main hotel airconditioning didn't work. They finally moved us to another room which had it's own system. Also be aware that this is supposed to be a Thermal bath, so the strong smell of sulphur is always in the air. But neither that nor the broken a/c would have bothered us if the rooms were cleaned to some basic standard. Seriously, revolting."
