9 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"The Maca Kizi was spectacular. The rooms were white with splashes of colors, like orange, very classy. Even the shampoos were classy (they were amazing Aqua di Parma shampoos and conditioners which are $45 for a travel size bottle) The view was so pretty. Considering we just traveled around Greece for 2 and a half weeks, we wanted a place to rest and the Maca Kizi was the best place. The food was great. They had just hired a new chef who was from Spain and we ate there a majority of the time. Also from the hotel you can walk along the coast and go shopping. Their spa is very nice. We had massages outside with a view of the ocean. All and all it was a great pick."

stunning location - things to improve on though
"We stayed here for two nights for our wedding anniversary. We were staying in nearby Yalikavak with friends and my husband surprised me with a mini-break in our break! The hotel is gorgeous, the layout of the hotel is done with style, the gardens, pool area and restaurant areas are very nice. The room was simple, but clean and modern. We had stunning views over the sea and bay and it was lovely to have drinks on the small balcony. Aqua di Parma products in the bathroom were a winner and the extras very useful. Breakfast was very simple, which for the price I think there should have been more choice. However, we had omelettes, fresh pastry and a small selection of fruit. I think it is a fair comment from one of the previous reviews that the staff's command of English is very poor, but then my Turkish is non-existent. The pontoon area where everyone suns themselves is brilliant, lovely chilled vibe and lots of shade if needed. Wear you best bikini, this is not for the shy! Typical water sports were available and the guy who drove the speed boat was lovely. We had the buffet for one of the lunches which was very tasty. One evening we had dinner in the restaurant which was very busy with lots of people who we felt were there more to be on show and be seen than to eat. Food was ok, very mediocre, not the best meal we had in Turkey considering the price! 750 TL for four people, approx £330. They got our food order wrong and the dessert was disgusting. Last thing, beware of the 10% service charge they put on all food, anything your order by the sea and in the room. Considering the service was poor on the pontoon, drinks ordered but did not arrive and the wrong lunch was delivered we were surprised that this was expected. We had room service on the night we arrived and our hot food arrived cold, they had not put a cover on. We asked for it to be returned and it did come back hot, but fairly quickly so had probably been microwaved. All in all this is a stunning hotel and clearly a hot spot in the area. However, the food needs to be better."

Favorite spot in Turkey
"Stayed at the Maca Kizi in July for 6 days and loved it. It is by far the best place to stay in the area. It is not located in Bodrum, it is in a small town about a 30 minute drive from Bodrum town The property is beautiful. There are small gardens and planting areas throughout the property and the fuschia bougainvilllea seems to cover everything, and it looks so beautiful. The deck/dock at the waters edge, which is the largest and nicest in the area is the best part of hotel, replaces what would be a beach. There are no beaches in the area, just these docks/decks that wrap around the bay. There are cushioned beds that are lined in rows up and down the deck for sunbathing and lounging. There is a bar on the deck as well as a few lounging areas where you can get out of the sun or eat lunch. The pool is modern and nice, although the scene is really below at the docks. Second, the rooms are clean and modern with a beachy vibe: white walls, white drappery, white bedding, and white washed furniture. It is not a sterile or austere, rather I would describe it as beachy modern. The restaurant at the hotel is excellent for both lunch and dinner. We had lunch every day on dock. The menu for dinner is Spanish inspired and is certainly the best place to eat in the area. The staff was extremely accommodating. They arranged for a great tour guide to take us to Ephesus, as well as transportation everywhere (to Ephesus, to and from Bodrum). They can also arrange for boat charters and other day excursions. I would definitely recommend the Maca Kizi. The review that talks about hairy bare chested staff wandering around is not accurate. It is a luxury property and worth visiting. Can't wait to go back!"

"If you crave chrome and smoked glass, the usual five star stuff, then you will loathe this hotel! This establishment really is a mind, body and sole experience. The whole ambience this place generates is really quite special. From the respectful attentive staff, the stripped bare chic of the rooms, and the exceptional quality of the food, all add up to make this hotel one of the most special hostelries I have ever had the pleasure to frequent! Quite honestly, words fail me! Out of this world."

Keep Away !!!
"If you are open to a big rip off , you will like this place . Rooms are mid class , breakfast is very poor . And if you didnt see a hotel manager / owner , walking around with bare dirty foot , opened shirt showing his belly and hairy chest till now , you will see one there . Cem Arkan"

Stunning Settting and Scene
"We had a great stay at the MacaKizi during the last few days of "the season". As others on this site have mentioned, the majority of the staff, although sweet, had a real obstacle with the fact that they could barely communicate with the guests. The rooms are minimalist, at best, but this is not the type of place you stay to "hang in the room". The restaurant, the lunch grill (amazing) and the beach docks are all spectacular for people watching and relaxing. The proximity to all the "action" of turbuktu made it an ideal location for our needs, since we wanted to be near the jet set, but not overwhelmed by them (and the loud disco blare that always accompanies them.)"

Breathteaking waterside views
"Our stay at this hotel was one of the highlights of our visit to Turkey. We specifically chose the Maca Kizi from among the other boutique hotel options in Turkbukku in order to take advantage of the unique opportunities for sunbathing and swimming off the waterside decks. The view from our upper level seaview room was breathtaking and more than made up for the extra stairs we needed to climb in order to reach the water. The reception staff were able to communicate perfectly well in English, and while the poolside and restaurant staff were less proficient, this did not interfere with our stay in any significant way. The only criticism we have is that we would have liked for the hotel to provide more information about its services in the room itself (e.g., room service menu, restaurant hours, waterside deck services), which would have saved us the trouble of going to reception or to the restaurant in order to obtain this information."

Location overcomes the service
"Outstanding overall experience. The "beach" (no sand but rather decking over the water) is completely relaxing and easy jump off/on for boating. The rooms are well appointed. We had a jr. suite with a sea view which I would suggest. It is an easy walk to the other spots in Turkbuku, yet not right on top of the nightlife. Unfortunately, the staff struggle with english and the service is spotty. For example, the hotel booked a car and driver to take us to the historic points of interest in Bodrum on the one day of the week they are closed which was extremely frustrating."

most fantastic place in the med
"If you really want to saty at a place where you are surroundest by very stylish and cool people, amazing seawater and more than friendly staff, the Maca Kizi is THE place to go to at the aegan coast of Turkey. We have stayed at many places in the region, but this one is definetly the best. The location is great the chill-out music played somewhere in the background is fantastic and the food is amazing! The rooms are modern and simple (note: no TV in the room as the Maca-Kizi is a place where you relax) but serve your needs."
